  1. Great review! I wanted this set the moment I set eyes on it in this catalogue. Luckily I found it thanks to eBay, and paid a ridiculous amount for it. Glad it's in my collection as it's one of my favorite sets.
  2. My Brickset number - 855. Most likely near 900 with the amount of bulk lots I've bought.
  3. Let's go Racing Boys!! FOUR Sprint Cars. Thanks for the contest!!
  4. I think all the pieces are printed on in the CARS theme. At least that's what was mentioned at Brickset. But looking at this pic, you might get lucky on that tail piece. Maybe just the CARS Characters have the printed items.....
  5. Thanks Jeff! On a side note, I was in a WM today and found both 3847 & 3840 Lego games for $8 each. They were on a clearance shelve in the main aisle. Happy shopping!
  6. Looks like we need to do a Lego Road Trip! Seriously, if anyone is heading to the US I will gladly send you my want list
  7. I have binders with all my instructions in them. Like this: They are just photo sleeves you can buy at WM. The only ones I have a problem with are some of the big book ones (they are just too long for page sleeves) and the small square ones, so they are all in a tote. For boxes, I cut up most of mine when I was a kid, but since I came out of my Dark Age, I have kept them all. Smaller ones are stored in bigger boxes, and all boxes are then stored in big moving/shipping boxes. I don't keep the little bags though - You guys are nuts!
  8. The tough part about using the bigger tires, is that you then have to make the trailer taller, because you loose the space on the inside. I could make a double car stacker tho.....
  9. Hey All, Just throwing it out there if anyone has this set they are willing to part with. I would be open to any sort of trade. I have some old town sets and also minifigues series 2 and 3 that could sweeten the deal. Let's see if we can work something out. Cheers.
  10. I tend to buy almost everything on my wishlist. I've been going after the minifigure series since they came out, and intend to get the rest of them when they are released. Now, I must say since Series 1 was released, it has taken some of my cash away from other sets I wanted. But with birthdays and the like, I usually ask for whatever I am missing, and the wife or my parents come through for me. I always shop when sales are on too. Why spend more then you have too? I eBay a lot, and find that I can get a lot of sets extremely cheap. Patience is key. 2011 is the first time I am really sticking to a "budget" per say. My car needs to paid off in Sept, so that's a priority. Usually I spend around $1000 a year on the hobby, but this year I will try to cut back a little. And that is going to be tough with the stuff already on the wanted list (Maersk Train, CARS, Series 4/5 figs....) Cheers.
  11. For those of you still looking for Series 3 Figs, I saw 3 brand new boxes opened at the WalMart at Erin Mills & Burnhamthorpe in Mississauga. That was at 7am this morning, and it looked like they were just put out. The top was just ripped off the boxes. Good luck!
  12. Great review. I recently picked up both 5590 and 5591 for $150. The stickers for 5590 were not even used, altough on 5591 they were and also some yellowed pieces on that set. Still, $75 for both was a a heck of a deal. Model Team was a great series, but I I don't think the series will ever come back. Creator has kind of meshed into it with some releases like 4896 or 4404 from the Make and Create line. I have 8 of the 16 total Model Team sets and they are all favorites. I will complete the series hopefully!
  13. I must say these sets are looking better amd better. I wish the CDN price would be closer to the US, but that's what sales are for . I suspect the single sets of Lightning and Mater will run $9.99 CDN. Also the back of McQueen looks a little blocky, or as if it's missing something in that photo. Man this is going to be a tough year for me! So much good stuff coming down the pipeline!
  14. Great Reveiw. When I bought 7245 I was extremely dissapointed in how the rear end looked and tore it apart to never look at it again. The new van's rear end is a complete 180. I know 7286 is mostly a rehash, but TLG did right by fixing the problems with the older version. I will get this hipefully on sale at somepoint. Thanks again!
  15. Nah, I have looked at the mall site every week and there has been nothing for any Lego store jobs. The only note about the store is that it is coming soon (spring). Every other store hiring has postings on the website, however. Plus, a company usually uses muliple sources/sites to post jobs (Workopolis, Job Bank, etc.), so keeping it just to the mall website would hinder the hiring process. I am just thinking that maybe it isn't an actual Lego Store, but a store like the one in St. Jacobs or Lasting Toys, that sell Lego exclusivly, but aren't a "Lego" brand store. See where I am going with this?
  16. So I've still been busy MOCing and decided that an enclosed race trailer was my next challenge! Here it is:
  17. I am wondering about the new proposed LEGO Store in Sherway Gardens Mall. Was this officially announced by TLG? I find it very odd that there are no job postings for the store on their website, since it will be opening in the Spring. Usually companies would post job information and want to get a crew together for set-up, training, etc. Anyone else heard or seen anything?
  18. So much is wrong with this post I don't even know where to begin. If you don't like them - Don't buy them. Simple, really. There have been many posts about the blind packaging so do a search and do some reading. To me, it sounds like you are younger than the proposed age limit for the site. Again, maybe do some more reading of the guidelines. Cheers.
  19. You're right! Here's a wreck that happened a couple years ago at our track: April Wilson Crash She walked away!
  20. Here is a building guide: Sprint Car Instructions Thanks for all the comments everyone!
  21. That was great! I wonder how long that would have taken to render!?
  22. I have a very unique job once the summer rolls around - the head Flagman and a local Dirt race track. I get to do it with my father, which makes it even more fun. It's actually kind of a relaxer for me. 2 or 3 times a year, we get a special class that comes to race - Sprint Cars. They are absolutely awesome to watch and they go ridiculously fast. They run on alcohol instead of fuel. Since they can get up to such high speeds, they have to put wings on the top and front of the cars to keep them on the track. I have fiddled with multiple designs to make one out of Lego, and here is my current model, along with race trailer and pickup (shown here previously). Most racers can't afford an enclosed trailer, so they bring their car the track with an open trailer, usually home-made: I am overall happy with the car, although the tough part was making it minifigure compatible, so the driver area is a bit taller than it should be. Here is a photo of a Sprint Car to compare: And I'll leave you with a photo of me doing what I love to do from last Fall:
  23. Cool car! Perfect use of the hinge plate for the side-view mirrors as well. Great MOC.
  24. I would highly doubt that this would be made of "old grey". I can't think of any sense why TLG would do that. If they were going back to that color, they would have done it years ago when everyone was outraged that it was changed. Just my 2 cents.
  25. Sorry, they were the 2010 sets, not 2011. 4840, 4841 and 4842. I was surprised to see them as they have been MIA since before Christmas.
