This set is $24.99 CDN - and our dollar right now is worth MORE than the USD. Will definately buy it on sale, but wont pay full price. I also own 4011, so this has to be built right beside it.... The sooner I get my passport done, I am going on a Lego buying binge in New York State

I made it to the Sherway Gardens store on Friday morning. I arrived at 10am, and was surprised to see no line and walked right in. Lots of stuff to look at, and hopefully the PaB wall will get better with time. Only bought a small LEGO logo Magnet (and got the free Universe game). Decided to walk across the street and take advantage of the Lego City sale - buy 3 sets get 25% off! (Thanks IAmWillGibson for the heads up on that!) Does the Lego stores have any good sales during the year? May be a dumb question, but if they do not, TRU will keep getting my money as I will take advantage of the sales there. Glad to have a store near me anyways. If someone got the figs on Saturday, post a nice big clear pic would ya!

I am hoping to find a few hard to find Polybag sets, or maybe the small CARS sets. After dishing out the cash for 10219, my wallet is empty

LEGO Collectable Minifigures Future Series Rumours
legomaniac83 replied to r4-g9's topic in Special LEGO Themes
This is great news for me the hobbyist but bad news for me the penny pincher I wouldn't mind a nice break after Series 5 to get some other items on my wanted list. I only have some much I can spend on this hobby! I assume S6 will be Jan. 2012? Can't wait to see some prelim photos! -
REVIEW - Cars 2 - 8200-1: Radiator Springs Lightning McQueen
legomaniac83 replied to lightningtiger's topic in LEGO Licensed
Thanks for the Review LT. I am in the same boat - with the side 2x4 pieces sticking otu it doesn't do much for me. They should have made the hood piece go the extra distance since it's hard to use that piece on anything else as was mentioned. I'm actually really dissapointed that the model itself is not as streamlined. Will I still buy the set - probably -
Some great responses here. I wont sign the petition as I believe it is beating a dead horse. I am happy with what TLG is producing now - more diverse range of products with greater detail. However, I think a great idea for a petition would be asking TLG to re-release more older sets, like the "Legends" line, even if it is just 1 or 2 a year. From what I've notcied, people go nuts for Limited Edition sets!

This is a great topic and discussion. I came out of my "dark age" around 2001 - when eBay was just getting popular. I managed to get a lot of older 80's & 90's sets for great prices. My collection is over the 600 set mark, and at least 150 of them came from eBay. But I find now its getting tougher to buy reasonable on eBay. When I search for Lego there are way more "Buy it Nows" than regular auctions - and I am not about to pay a ridiculous price for a set produced 10 or 20 years ago. I like the auction style, but that's just me. My uncle always told me - Be patient and you will find what you want for what you want to pay. I tend to hardly ever spend over the price of what the set was brand new. I understand the inflation factor, and adding shipping can make some sets overpriced, some things you can't avoid. I just recently graduated college in 2009, so it's not like I have hundreds to spend on this hobby. I tend to do a lot of price guiding/checking before I buy the set I want and 9 times out of 10 get it for what I want to pay. Being lucky is also a factor. I've been using Kijiji and craigslist for Lego classifieds and got some extremely good deals a few years ago. (5571 Black Cat truck for $100 with instructions, box and unused sticker sheet. It was 99.9% complete and well worth it, plus worth a pretty penny now. This was my holy grail and never thought I'd ever own one). I find with those sites too it is harder and harder to get good deals as sellers are listing Lego at premiums of 50-75% more! I've even posted saying beware of these ads and do research before anyone spends that much on a set you can sometimes find at a local store, or way cheaper online. Also with these sites, early bird gets the worm and by the time I see the ad, the good old cheap sets are long sold. Maybe we're going through a cycle of older sets being higher priced, and it will circle around again to near reasonable prices. Who knows. I just keep following my motto and so far its worked......

Hey nice design medib! We have 6 of these "gravity boxes" on our farm. Did you make it fully functional; sloped on the inside? Can you add a shot looking down from the top? I've had this idea in my head for a while and you've done a great job making it look exactly like one. Great job!

I hope to be there on Friday at 11 after I drop the misses of at work. Looking forward to see some fellow "Eurobrickers" there! Unfortunately I will miss the Minfigs giveaway on Sat as I will be out of town. Should be a good time, nonetheless.

Anyone heading to the US this weekend? Looking to get the Maersk train cheaper in the US ($35 more here!). Drop me a msg if anyone is. On a series 4 note, all the WM around here that had them, I saw none on the shelves tonight. They. Went. fast. Happy hunting!

National Geographic's "Megafactories" Lego Episode
legomaniac83 replied to DLuders's topic in General LEGO Discussion
A lot I didn't know about the company. Thanks for sharing! -
A-ma-zing! This is a set on my very small want list this year and I really hope it will be available in local stores as Whitefang mentioned. This will be my first train in about 5 years, and now thanks to your review I am foaming at the mouth for it Can not wait!

Congrats to all the winners and thanks again for the raffle CopMike!

Funny you mention that - those were the last 2 I was searching for as well. Managed to find them in about 15 minutes. I think the scientist is only 2 per box, not sure for the hockey player.
-
Leave it to the last minute! Most of my Lego is buried in the spare room, but I could get at enough to make this. Thanks for the raffle!
-
Yes, it is a real topic and why would we answer your questions if you can't bear to read it. Did you post this to stir the pot or something??
-
To be honest, the Scientist was the hardest for me too. The vile is the giveaway, though. Also his hair is not a hard mold, it is soft which makes it hard to feel. As for the Werewolf, it all about finding the bone. Dead giveaway. Good luck!

Picked up the Series 4 figs today!!! Found them at WM at Burnhamthorpe/Erin Mills Dr. in Mississauga. Managed to get a complete set plus extras of rocker and Hazmat guy all by the feel method. They were $3.28 (a price increase of .20) and they had around 8 boxes. Also checked the WM Supercentre at Mavis/Britannia but they had none on the shelves yet. Happy Hunting!

2nd Edition Collector's Book on the way

This makes me so happy. I thought I would have to get it from here. I just recently heard of this book, and never saw it on sale in Canada anyway. Exciting!!! -
REVIEW: 8804 LEGO Minifigures Series 4
legomaniac83 replied to WhiteFang's topic in Special LEGO Themes
Great Review Whitefang! I am super pumped to find this set when released I must say that the Hazmat guy and Rocker are my faves so far, and Frankenstein being my least fave (just something about that headpiece....) Also, when Series 3 was released last year, weren't people getting 2 complete sets in the box as well? Here in Canada I got 3 complete sets in a box. Maybe this will be the same with Series 4... I am all about the "touch & feel" method. I've done this with all the series and it's 100% accurate, unlike the dots. I can usually pick out what fig it is within 5-10 seconds. Thanks again! -
I was out and about last night and noticed some Series 3 figs and a fair amount of newer sets at the Chapets in Oakville. Also, at the TRU on Hurontario & Eglinton in Mississauga there was 4 boxes out. One was half full, two others were full and the 4th was still sealed. Good to know that there are still a lot of these kicking around for people who haven't got their hands on them yet.

Congrats to all the winners! This was a fun and easy contest. Great job.

LEGO Collectable Minifigures Series 4 discussion
legomaniac83 replied to legokuate's topic in Special LEGO Themes
Congrats! Get this guy a brand new box of Series 4 figs! DaleDVM, Sounds like you couldn't get all of the figs you wanted to build your army. Your box ratio is ridiculous. Some figs will always be in a higher demand than others. That's just the way it is. If a box has 20 elves in it, "army builders" are going to buy the 20 elves, leaving the casual fan or kid out of luck, again. Saying that "one set is for keeping and one for trading" is also ridiculous. Why would I buy a complete set then turn around to trade it? If I was "army building" I would just buy the 20 elves/spartans/whatever in the next box........ Your post says that TLG should cater to the needs of army building and forget about everyone else. It doesn't matter what they do with the ratio - the current way/your box ratio/selling a box of 48 with 3 complete sets - someone will complain that they are being shortchanged. Hopefully you can complete your army in Series 4. -
I also threw my resume in for this. Maybe I will see you in the interview line Will!
