  1. Thanks to Roger Rabbit for hooking me up with a set!
  2. I was over in Buffalo the last 2 days, and I couldn't find any Lego deals. For example, 4434 Dump Truck is usally $24.99 here in Canada. At TRU in the US, it's also $24.99. WM over there did have them on for $19.99, however, but I can wait for a 25% off City sale to get it for that price here. TRU even had some clearance Lego, but it was so unimpressive I can't even remember which sets they were......
  3. I am in the same situation as natesroom. Just looking for a complete set - not a whole box. Much appreciated!
  4. WOW stunning model! I also love how you made the water. Wish I was going to BrickWorld so I could get an up close view!
  5. Saw 5+ boxes of Series 7 at the WalMart in Square One mall. Has anyone been to either Lego Stores in Toronto? Last time I was in Sherway,(March), They did not have the Dump Truck 4434, Ambulance 4431 & Dirt Bike Transporter 4432. Just wondering if they have them re-stocked so I can take advantage of some VIP points. Thanks!
  6. I've used the feel method for all the series except the 1st (bought complete set online). I must say I am much faster for Series 7 then previous. My wife and I felt our way through a complete set halfway through a new box - maybe 20-25 minutes total. We were impressed and had a good laugh about it. Also I have never gotten one wrong using this method so I "feel" it's the way to go!
  7. I picked up a complete set yesterday. I was surprised how fast I felt my way through a complete set too......I guess after 7 series it gets easier Got doubles of the Hippie, Bride, Bunny, Rocker Girl & Bagpipper. Can't wait to get a sneak peek of Series 8......
  8. You are Right! Toy Building Zone in St. Jacobs!
  9. Always keep every brick. Another idea is to hide them within your MOC. If you can't see that awful color from the outside, yet it helps with your build, it's definitely worth it!
  10. I got my Series 7 figs today! And Don't worry, they have lots.........
  11. A friend from work was headed to NYC a few months ago and they were going to be right beside Rockafeller Center. I said if you get a chance, go into The Lego Store and grab me something with "New York" on it. They bought me back this key-chain and it's a great add to the collection. It's nice to know they were a limited edition as well.
  12. I'm also unsure if these are real as well. I work for a television station, and when the Olympics are on we are not even allowed to say the word because we don't have the rights to use it (we have to use Summer games or Winter games etc). So getting a license for these I would assume would be very difficult and/or expensive. Is TLG making a ton of them and selling them for a higher price than regular CM's to cover the cost(s)? I guess we'll wait an see.....
  13. I was there yesterday and did not see these.
  14. I've had no problem with the binders....I keep them lying flat instead of standing up so everything stays flat. And thanks for the idea!
  15. I am leaving when my wife gets home from work - might be there around 4-4:30ish. I saw 4x6 red plates the last time I was there on the wall, and I need them for this display: I didn't like the black ones that came with it so I exchanged them with red ones I had. Now i need to stock up again Also saw these in white: Hardly have any of these so worth it to pickup.
  16. This works best for me: Although I am stuck on some larger books - They are longer than the binders, and page sleeves do not hold them as well. Right now they are in a Tote and it bug me because all my other booklets are in binders for easy use.
  17. Anyone going to Sherway tomorrow for the 1/2 price PAB cups? I intend to late afternoon. Hopefully the wall hasn't changed too much since I was last there 3 weeks ago.......needed some of those parts!
  18. 5571 Model Team Giant Truck This - THIS was the set that I had drooled over for many years. I remember as a kid getting a 1996 catalog in the mail and this set was pictured in it. I circled it and told my parents this was the set I wanted. A few years went by, and I received pretty much every other Model Team set except this one. The problem was my parents could not find it anywhere! More time went by, I went to high school, then college, and my Lego fascination got traded for other fascinations. My dark ages finally passed me, and it wasn't until 2008 when this set out of the blue became available. I was in my second stint of college, and before I went to work one day I checked the local classified online (Kijiji to be exact) for Lego deals. Well what do you know - someone had listed a 5571 the previous night with box, manual, and stickers unused. I sent and email asking a price, he had no idea and I offered him $100. He bit and the rest was history! It's funny because whilst in college, I was pretty strapped for cash, but when I told my wife about it she was excited as I was! It must of been all those years of telling her this was my Holy Grail. I remember that day at work I couldn't wait to get home and meet the guy to get my prize! The build was amazing, and although it was missing some pieces, it was nothing BrickLink couldn't solve. Amazing set and my still to this day my favorite hands down. Now I need a new Holy Grail to find.......Cafe Corner maybe? Some great stories in this thread so keep 'em coming!
  19. I went to Sherway Gardens tonight to pick up 10197, and also grabbed the new brick separator yay! Also received an April calendar, and a great deal is running on the 10 & 11 - Large PAB cup for the price of a small for VIP members only. You can bet my bricks I'll be there! They had a good selection on the wall as well. I filled up my gift box from Christmas last month, and there are a lot of changes. Happy shopping.
  20. I caved and went and bought one tonight My first Modular building! I was going to buy 2, and sit on one, but I have a feeling it wont go for as much as the Cafe Corner and Market Street are going for. A check of Briklink shows an abundance of 10197's, unlike the other 2. Time will tell I guess.
  21. WOW Outstanding gas station danthaman11! The detail is great - especially the slanted pumps, and the brick work around the sign and store. I would add a suggestion - maybe finish off the top roof of the store and overhang of the pumps. You're creation would be stud-free! This piece comes in great for smooth finishing: (8x16 tile - 48288) An AC unit or satellite dish would be perfect additions to the store roof. Great MOC once again.
  22. I don't have much to add to the original comment as davee123 covered my thoughts However: Really? Up until 1997 as Dave noted when Lego started to go <insert that tiresome argument>, some of the best sets came out in the 90's. Lego has finally gotten around to releasing city vehicles once again, which put town on the map for the company back in the day (lots of variety every year). Also Model Team was a GREAT line. I'm going out on a limb thinking you were born in the 90's? I mean come on - there aren't many sets that can beat this (released in 1996): I could go on, but that's probably better for a new thread..... Carry on.
  23. That sucks Will. I would call Lego and they might help you out. Did you pay full price for it? What WM in Mississauga? This reminds me of a find at Winners a few weeks back. I found a 8084 Snowtrooper Battle Pack on the shelf and the box was completely destroyed. It had been opened and I couldn't tell what, if any, had been taken. The price was $9.99 so I went to the front to see if they would take any off the price. A the cash, the lady looked at it and took $0.99 off. $.99!!! I said no thanks and walked out. Usually retailers are pretty good at discounting open stock. On a side note, has anyone gone to fill up their Pick-a-Brick Box from Black Friday? I went to Sherway on Saturday and managed to fit an astounding 540 pieces into it! Thanks Lego!
  24. Saving for Town Hall........

  25. Simple answer - Yes. Some sets I win off eBay or find in local classifieds are missing the original manual. I'm a completist you could say, and I also would rather build with a manual than off of a screen. Usually I can find ones I am missing on eBay or Bricklink, and I never pay over a dollar for them. Sometimes the price is higher if the set is rare, however.
