Organization and official sets
legomaniac83 replied to nicoga3000's topic in General LEGO Discussion
My thoughts exactly. While I've never sold a set out of my collection, I do keep all the boxes in case I decide to sell in the future, and a complete set with a box fetches more money. I just wish I would have kept my boxes from my childhood! And who knows if you are ever going to be in a desperate situation. Maybe it's just the collector in me as to why I keep the boxes as well. Makes it complete I guess. As for new sets, I usually build them, play/show them off, then part them out into my inventory. It's way better for MOCing that way. There are a few larger sets that I just disassemble and put in its own Tupperware container, and If I want to build it again, I know the set is all in one place. Cheers! -
Wow that is one great list! Keep up the good work and I am excited to see what this will evolve into. Nate

LEGO Collectable Minifigures Series 3 discussion
legomaniac83 replied to Klaus-Dieter's topic in Special LEGO Themes
Welcome to Eurobricks! This is the first I've heard of the series 3 with cheap plastic. Maybe if you get the chance, post some pictures. Wouldn't mind seeing them..... All my Series 3 were fine. -
This is what I use as well. If I get a used set (off eBay/yard sale/etc.) and it is missing some pieces, I create a new wanted list with that set number as a name. I'm not sure how many different wanted list you can have, but I am up to around 15 or so different ones. It's great to do searches as well because you can search by price or location etc. I find trying to stay in the same country works the best as it is the cheapest postage. I've never had a problem with any seller and I have been doing it for about 7 years.

Finally Series 3 hits Canada!
legomaniac83 replied to legomaniac83's topic in Buy, Sell, Trade and Finds
Whoa! There has been a price decrease! I got them for $2.86! Yeah I got there right when they brought the stock out. For Series 2, they had them on the little shelf end-racks and zip strips and the boxes were no where to be found. If you ask, they might have the empty boxes in the back room if you need one though. -
Finally Series 3 hits Canada!
legomaniac83 replied to legomaniac83's topic in Buy, Sell, Trade and Finds
They are very difficult to read. I only tried with 2, and it is really hard to figure out. I gave up and used the feel method and it was way faster. -
So when I got off work tonight, I had to run over to WM to get some things. I like going at that time of night because it's pretty dead in there and they are pulling out all of the skids with new product for the overnight crew. Went to the toy aisle, and there there were around 3 or 4 Lego boxes. On the side it read: Minifigures Series 3. Luckily, one of the overnight stocking staff was there and I asked him if he wouldn't mind opening a box for me. He said sure, and just as I thought: Series 3! I took a whole box. There are 2 minifig boxes in a Lego box, so it looked like this store would have got around 6-8 minifigs boxes. I have a breakdown of what is inside, and I noticed something weird: Most of the figs are in the box together! Here is what I found: Row 1 Tennis ------4 Chief -------2 Fisherman ---1 Snowboarder -1 Hula Girl ---2 Warrior -----3 Alien -------3 Judo dude ---4 Row 2 Warrior------1 Hula Girl----1 Racer--------2 Snowboarder--2 Rapper-------2 Chief--------1 Judo Dude----1 Fisherman----3 Pilot--------3 Baseball-----1 Elf----------3 Row 3 Pilot--------1 Racer--------2 Baseball-----3 Gorilla------4 Spaceman-----3 Mummy--------5 Rapper-------1 When I first opened the box, I started at Row 3 and worked my way back. It seems that most of the same figs are together, so the 5 Mummy's for example, were back to back to back to back to back. Now I know I got a new sealed box, so once they hit the shelves I'm sure they get messy in minutes. Here is the breakdown of what I got in the box all together: 5 each: Judo Dude Race Car Driver Mummy 4 Each: Tennis Warrior Fisherman Pilot/Explorer Baseball Player Gorilla 3 Each: Snowboarder Hula Girl Chief Alien Rapper Elf Space Guy It's great to know that you get 3 complete series in the box, and if anyone around the GTA wants a complete set, let me know as I am only keeping 1. I'm pretty sure that these will be available at most WM today, or by the weekend. Hope my counts help out and happy shopping! I'll leave you with a pic. Enjoy!

I am not, sorry. Sounds interesting, though. Thanks for the info. -

Not a Problem! And like I said, if you need anything (collection photos, phone interview, etc), I'm more than willing to help. Good luck! -

Hey Ben, I would totally be interested, but I am in Canada. It sounds like a very interesting project. If you need anything, drop me a PM. What are you majoring in? I am a broadcasting graduate and familiar with Film and the like. Cheers, Nate -
$35!!! Man will send you the cash to pick me up one too! Nice grab for the price. I like the way you configured the layout as well. Looks a lot more like a mechanics shop.

LEGO Collectable Minifigures display cases
legomaniac83 replied to BigDumbWookiee's topic in Special LEGO Themes
They did a good job at getting the colors and fonts right. They look good to display, but yeah $19 is a little steep, especially if they are only made of plastic like Protecto-Packs. I have other ideas in mind for dispalying my figs...... -
Wow, I don't know where to start..... Can you send the link to the article? Or the name of the paper? I would love to send a "Letter to the Editor" in response to it. If they even accept them any more

I like this a lot lightningtiger! Maybe I will try my hand at a Canadian crossing signal to compare! Great job!

MOC: Mountain road and rail cargo station
legomaniac83 replied to Fistach's topic in LEGO Train Tech
Sorry to bump this up to the top, but this MOC is amazing! I love how you included the mountain side into this remake, and the building and crane are also stunning. Love the fact that there are hardly any studs showing. (That's they way I build too....) The trailer of the semi is very well done. I have had that idea in my head for a while. Again, Great job Fistach! Wish I could come over and "play" with it in person! -
This set surprised me, as after the review I have taken a liking to it. It definately has the playability factor, and who can go wrong with 3 vehicles? The armoured truck is detailed, and the police car has a nice stylistic change on the rear end. The crowbar is a must have piece as well. I just might pick this set up if I see it on the shelves. Thanks for the review!

LEGO Collectable Minifigures Series 3 discussion
legomaniac83 replied to Klaus-Dieter's topic in Special LEGO Themes
I am with ya! I have checked multiple WM's and TRU in my area, and the manager at one TRU said that had no idea when they would arrive. Although I was in a WalMart tonight and they did have all of the new 2011 sets on the shelves. But I absolutely do find it ridiculous and maddening that most other places these figs have already showed up. And judging but the duplicates that are being shipped out from Lego.com, I will try my luck and finding the product on the shelves.... BTW are you in the GTA Autobrick? -
Great Review! I remember getting this set off a friend for $50, along with 6086 Black Knights Castle. (Yeah I know, steal of a deal..... ) The set itself has great playability, and it matched the series perfectly. I'm lucky enough to also own 6076, and both of them together look superb. I might just have to dig this set out now......

I was in a local TRU yesterday and asked about Series 3 and they had nothing and gave no time line when they would get them. Kind of disappointed since pretty much all of the 2011 sets were on the shelves. Also been to a couple WM and their Lego aisles look empty and deserted. Anybody seen anything else around the GTA?

I'll add to my first post, as my Christmas holidays were a week apart. Also received: 7636 - Combine 2585 - Track Buggy with Station Master and Cool Kid. I love the 2585, since it was a limited edition. I think it will stay MISB! Anyone else on here have that set or the game it came with? Looks like lots of you got some great stuff too!
-
Anyone see any Series 3 figs out yet in the Toronto area? I will probably end up buying a whole box to get the complete series. If any members on here want a complete set too, I will be selling the rest and would prefer to deal loaclly. Keep your eyes peeled, and I will yell if I find any around town. Happy Hunting!

Wow, just as I am trying to cut back Lego purchases for the new year because of other (more important) priorities, this comes along.... I am excited with the scale of this series, and the CARS characters that will be priduced. This will be an excellent move for Lego, scalewise, and I would expect it will have no trouble selling. Look at the marketing that's already been done with diecast, clothing and so on in the CARS theme. Can't wait for some better pics, and prices.......

I didn't see this topic started, so I thought I'd do the honors! Hopefully there were many "rattling" gifts under your trees and many hours of building to come! Here is what received so far: 1250 - Dragster 2147 - Dragon Fly 2881 - Parking Gate Attendant 7595 - Army Men on Patrol 10187 - Volkswagen Beetle Have a Merry Christmas everyone!

Yuppers! I got them out of 3579. It's funny you think of <insert that tiresome argument> KielDaMan.....I have always thought about using it for a flatbed since I got it. I've also used them for flat roof tiles before. Thanks for all the comments!
