  1. Witch-king showdown, definitely. Generic soldiers are nice, but a molded Fell Beast, the Witch-king and Eowyn are ESSENTIAL to LotR, and they would bring diversity (i.e. creatures, female character) to the theme, rather than four relatively similar figures. Don't get me wrong, Gondor is one of my favorite factions in LotR, but I think the missing main characters and events are still more important.
  2. Thanks! That's what I was thinking, too. I'll give it a few days and then make a decision, but I'm leaning toward the Wargs.
  3. Hi, all! Do people think that I should I buy "Lake-town Chase" for about $50 USD with free shipping, or should I try to get "Attack of the Wargs" (about $55 at this point, also with free shipping) before it is gone for good? If "Attack of the Wargs" had Azog, it would make the choice much easier; I already have the brown Warg from "Mirkwood Elf Army." Honestly, I'm torn on this decision, but I have to choose one (or none), and I believe Lake-town offers much better value for a comparable price. On the other hand, I really like some elements of "Attack of the Wargs," and it will soon be really hard to find. Advice? Thank you!
  4. Oh, my bad. I guess I haven't been following TABA news closely enough!
  5. Thanks, that's good advice. I imagine that the two "Preview" sets were produced in greater quantity so that they could last until kids recognized the scenes from the movie. :) That would make sense. But if I get desperate, I will contact Customer Service.
  6. Do you mean blue coat Bilbo? Because his costume is awesome, but I have never heard of Bard having a blue coat.
  7. Any idea how long Barrel Escape will be around? I'm hoping to get it for my birthday in a few weeks, so I know it won't be gone by then, but I'm been planning on buying it for a year and a half, so I'll never forgive myself if I miss out on it... On a side note, in the USA, the Chicago LEGO Store has gotten rid of all their Unexpected Journey sets (including the "Trilogy Preview" sets), but the Woodfield (Schaumburg) store nearby in Illinois still has them in mass quantities. I wonder why that is?
  8. Concerning Galadriel's hairpiece: I'm pretty sure it will be a new mold, combining the waviness of Arwen's hair with a circlet similar to Elrond's. That's because I don't think it's so easy to recolor those specialized rubber elements. I could be wrong, but I don't think there's ever been one of those special hairpieces repurposed in a different color (the Saruman/Gandalf the White distinction was just a bit of grey printing)--so if a new color demands a new piece, it might as well be a more Galadriel-perfect mold. A propos of "new color," I REALLY hope her hair is tan-colored, not that ridiculous new dandelion-yellow that, IMO, ruined so many minifigures such as Legolas, Luna Lovegood from "Harry Potter," and Willie and Elsa from "Indiana Jones." At least Thranduil's was better. Also, with the dramatic increase of double-sided capes in the past year and a half, Galadriel could easily have one that is white on one side and grey on the other. So, those are my random thoughts on the Galadriel minifigure. I cannot wait for that smallest TABA set!
  9. Sorry if I missed this, but is Smaug confirmed to be part of the large Erebor set, or is it still unclear? I can't imagine TLG putting the giant, fire-breathing antagonist in anything less than the flagship set, but you never know. Also, if the Erebor set is the interior of the mountain (treasure chamber, forges, throne room, and so on), and NOT the outside, I imagine that minifigure selection will be fairly limited, so we might finally get some of the Dwarves in new costumes. I think Fili and Kili are fairly certain for this wave, because they play a memorable role at the end of the story.
  10. Thanks for the picture from the video game; somehow I missed that! As far as a Visual Dictionary is concerned, I wonder whether that's possible. I still don't understand exactly how the LOTR and Hobbit themes are officially related, and I'm not sure whether they could be put together in one DK book, or if the licenses would restrict each theme to its own book, in which case there might not be enough material to fill a single book...yet.
  11. Slightly speculative, perhaps, but do you all reckon that we'll get this version of Bilbo in the large Erebor set? http://3.bp.blogspot...on-of-smaug.jpg Then if we could just get an Ian Holm flashback "Old Bilbo" for the There and Back Again Blu-ray exclusive, I think we'll have every conceivable wardrobe option for Mr. Baggins!
  12. I'm kind of confused about Amazon (US) listings for the new sets. Lake-town Chase (the set that I am most anxious to get) is conspicuously absent, and there is no image for Dol Guldur Battle. I hope this will all be straightened out by December...
  13. A Balrog would be awesome, but if the fell beast in the next wave is real, two brick-built creatures in one wave might be a little much. As for a Orc/human (Gondorian?) army builder, do you mean something like "Uruk-hai Army" and "Mirkwood Elf Army," or a Star Wars-style battle pack? If the list is official, "Osgiliath" could function as an expanded, mid-price range army builder. I would not expect a battle pack any time soon, though. Whether because of a licensing agreement or a design decision, we don't seem to be getting any inexpensive figure sets in the Middle-earth themes.
  14. I got one Uruk-hai Army--which I love--and I will consider myself lucky to get one Mirkwood Elf Army. Honestly, I don't have the money to buy multiples of sets, however good they are. One, though? Almost certainly.
  15. Bofur is by far my favorite Dwarf, and this MOC doesn't disappoint! Well done, it's brilliant! Ironically, the one thing I might change is the hat; it looks a little flat to me. But the mustache...is pure genius, and very Bofur-ish!
  16. It can be seen one page back, on page 246 of this thread. Overall, I think both Dol Guldur sets and Lake Town have brilliant designs, though I am not sure about potential prices. The minifigures are good all around, but the Necromancer is kind of disappointing; he looks a bit like a zombie. Not exactly a stellar minifigure representation of Benedict Cumberbatch The Mirkwood Elf Army may be my favorite of the lot, but honestly the construction is rubbish. What is the world coming to when I'm buying half my LEGO sets for what amount to two-inch tall action figures?
  17. Everyone is right that it seems like an unnecessary mold to make. I just feel like, if Amon Hen is a real set, it will suffer from a lack of unique minifigures...unless there's a completely redesigned Lurtz or something. So far each LOTR and Hobbit wave has been so focused on minifigures, in some cases at the expense of the sets themselves, so I would imagine that the trend will continue into next summer. That being said, I think the designs from this past summer were better than 2012, so I have high hopes for whatever sets are released next year.
  18. I am quite excited about the list of rumored sets, and personally I believe them. However, I think the rumored prices are almost certain to change. At any rate, assuming the sets are real, I can't wait for the Mirror of Galadriel, though I think it should include Sam as well--as a throwback to the book, and because so far Sam has only appeared in ONE SET! I was really expecting the larger Lothlorien set from the prototype room, but I suppose that would be too similar to Mirkwood Elf Army, which, come to think of it, would double well for Lothlorien. Other than that, Eowyn and Faramir are my two favorite characters, so it would be great to get them. As far as the rumored sets are concerned, relative to their prices, however, I think Amon Hen would be the most exciting. Though there would not really be any "new" minifigures. Perhaps they could include Uruk-hai with new scout helmets (the leather-flap ones from "Fellowship")
  19. It's just like the big reveal that Disney acquired Lucasfilm...no end in sight for these licenses. And sorry for starting a new topic about HP, by the way.
  20. I think LEGO HP might someday make a (second) revival. Apparently J. K. Rowling is writing the screenplay for a new series of Potter spin-off movies, the first of which will begin production at an undisclosed (or undetermined) time. Although this will not quite be HP as we know it, I'm guessing the "universe" will feel very similar. It's still made by Warner Bros., so does anyone think we'll see LEGO HP come back in the near (or far) future? http://www.bbc.co.uk...t-arts-24067557 I would personally love to see Weasleys' Wizard Wheezes to complement my Diagon Alley, but I think releasing a set like that alongside: "Fantastic Beasts" might be a step backward for WB. What do you think this new series could mean for LEGO HP?
  21. Here are my thoughts on the minifigures for the rumoured "Hobbit" sets: Dol Guldur Ambush: Gandalf, Radagast, Bolg Mirkwood Elf Army: Thranduil, Elf Soldier (x2), Azog, Orc (x2) Dol Guldur Battle: Gandalf, Saruman, Galadriel, Elrond, Elf Soldier (x2), Orc (x2), Nazgul (?), Necromancer Also, I think set #79009 (between Pirate Ship Ambush and Goblin King Battle) could be the $40-ish exclusive featuring Bilbo and Smaug in the Lonely Mountain. Maybe instead of a bunch of gold coins, it could include some stonework in addition to the brick-built dragon!
  22. Any word on the availability of Planets Series 4 in the United States? I understand that the line will be cancelled starting next year, but I hope to goodness that I can complete the collection, especially Hoth and Alderaan.
  23. The official number of pieces given for "Lake Town Chase" is 334. The same number of pieces as "Barrel Escape." This could easily be a coincidence, but it reinforces my suspicion that you are correct about the info being incorrect. By the way, I think the set looks great, even at $50 US.
  24. I didn't know that any Elves fought there at all.
  25. That is truly outstanding! Do you have have enough pieces to build the whole tower?
