Copied from BZP to further the 'lazy Americans' stereotype (because it's true!). So, after I built Jaller, good ol' Riko was all like 'hey, I'd love to see you build me again.' And even though I've built his alter ego at least twice before, I was all 'hey, why not?' He said white, and metru red, with some black. Being DV, I decided to take that as metru-red over white over black. He also wanted the white kakama. Which, being my favorite, was not something I had to fight with. Blah blah blah, so on, so forth, and etc. Back shot (kinda) Sword put up Frontage Side-ish stuff Sword focus So yeah. <<DV>>

You're friggin kidding me, right? Before Bob left, we had characters shown on-line that were not sets. Characters featured prominently. We had actual characterization. Tahu vs Kopaka for leadership, and they have to put it aside to win. It was mysterious. We had all the back-story we ever needed. The toa were mighty heroes of legend. Makuta was an intangible villain, with a darkness we couldn't fathom, but a motive we could. He was jealous. Greg takes the reins. What do we get? Toa groups with interchangeable members. Take any 'Le' member of a toa group, and he can be exchanged for another. Take any 'Ga' toa, and exchange her for another. It works. They're all the same. Before Greg, there were 12 mask types. And they were the whole point of '01. Now we have numberless masks, and the entire mask hunt from 2001 is now meaningless. The Nuva were downgraded, their characters retconned, their personalities abandoned. And throwing out all the on-line games as 'non-canon' is a dang shame too. Now we get 'some of the events happened as you saw them, but not most of them'. The heck? Greg doesn't seem capable of writing actual characters. He writes stereotypes. And don't throw the 'you do better, then' crap at me. I'm a lit major. This is what we do. We pick apart novels and stories. As for 'write a fanfic then!' Step off. That's not the point. I could rewrite whatever the heck I felt like. But that's not the friggin' point. The story shouldn't need to be fanfic'd the heck up. But this is why I'm a MOCist. Because the story sucks, and has since that first movie. Bah. <<DV>>

Sorry bud. Ehlek's metru green and lime. Personally, I'm not too happy with all the old parts in old colours. I want old parts in new colours, or new parts in old colours. They do look kinda fun as sets, but I dunno. If they've got those all the way through ball joint pieces, I'll be all over them, though. As far as the Inika, they suffer a lot from the Metru syndrome. The Metru really standardized the Toa personalities. The green one's always the funny, 'tree-speaking' character (even though Lewa didn't do it until the MoL, when his entire character was retconned into a standard 'Le' character). The white one's always quieter, and reserved. The blue one's all 'Let's not fight!'. Etc. The Inika had very distinct personalities as Matoran, and they've suffered now that they're toa. They've become more like the stock toa personalities we've seen before. There are some differences, Jaller, for instance, isn't the moody emo-Vakama, which is good. And they were too big, and skinny. With ugly masks, that couldn't be used on any heads besides the Inika blobs. Which also sucks. Masks were standardized once. The loss of a gear function kind've killed the building factor too. Now they're just snap together figs. No real fun. We also lost a lot of the more technic-oriented pieces with them. On and on, so forth, etc. <<DV>>

Well, they usually show up in December, even though they're 'supposed to be' out in January. The lil box sets often get found in November (which it currently is, and hey, look, someone on Brickshelf has them!) <<DV>>

Why a visiting Christian 'guest' (as in, unregistered EB reader) would ever want to take residence here on this forum after reading this topic is beyond my comprehension. Yes, there have been bad things done in the name of religion. There have been bad things done in the name of no-religion as well (persecution of the faithful [any faith] in Communist Russia, China, etc). The problem with America isn't religion. It's selfishness. Arrogance. And the religious are not the only ones to be blamed for this. Oh no. Honestly? If true Christian principles (and not this pseudo-Christianity crap the 'religious right' keep throwing out there) were to be implemented by any country in the world, life'd be better. It would. The problem is, humans are naturally selfish beings. True Christianity is hard, because it emphasizes the other over self, to such a point where my life is forfeit if it means my enemy lives. It's not easy, and if you think it is, you've never been truly involved with any Christians. You know what? It's not any easier to believe in God than not. Yes, we'll cite personal experiences (and I have many I could cite from my own life), but how long do you think that sticks with us? We as humans are fickle beings, and even a divine intervention still yields an unfaithful person a few years later. Doubts aren't easy, and they exist far more often than you seem to think. I'm not going to lie, I think the Church (especially the modern church) has done almost nothing in America to prove it's worth. Selfish and greedy, the modern American church is a product if it's environment. And this is a shame. The Church shouldn't be wealthy, but poor as dirt because it gave it's fortunes away to those who needed them. But you won't get your religion-free world anytime soon. Because I can see it here, Christianity, at least, is being reborn. Amongst the Christian youth, there's a big resurgence in living out what we claim to believe. Volunteering in places where it's needed. And not just the 'once a month so I feel good about myself' thing. I have friends living with the poor, so they can give, and share, with the poor. Yes, bad things have, and will, happen because of religion. But just because you can't understand why some of us would choose to put our entire lives under a being you don't even believe in's control, doesn't mean it's worthless. But hey, go ahead and think less of my intellect because I'm a Christian. I'm part of the problem or whatnot. I won't condemn you for being 'faithless,' and I'm not going to think less of you for making what my faith considers to be the biggest mistake possible. It would be great if you would afford us the same courtesy. *n* <<DV>>

I don't know if you know this, but many messageboards have a ratings system, with a scale that goes either plus or minus five, that's used for disciplinary purposes. BZP just makes the one they use public. And honestly? The rules aren't hard to follow. If you're not trying to, and keep your language civil, you're not going to get in trouble. Debates with GregF even haven't often resulted in trouble. You can state your opinion on BZP. I do it all the time. I've argued with Greg, with Bonesiii, etc. You just have to do it respectfully. Honestly, it's not that hard. Toyfair over yet? Maybe soon we'll get some images from there. <<DV>>
-
Well, the language flows with even more freedom on ItB, and BR lets us keep on truckin'... So yeah, these sets. I want better pictures. I'm not so much diggin' on what I can see, though. <<DV>>

And they didn't before? There's this thing many of you seem to be missing. It's called the Black Market. Criminals who want guns are still going to get them. Gun laws or not. Groups like the insurrectionists in Iraq, Al-Qaeda, the Taliban, et al are going to get their weaponry whether we allow gun sales or not. That, and the weaponry they're usin' against us over in Iraq and Afghanistan are weapons that aren't allowed to be sold here to the general populace anyway. If you're going to make sarcastic remarks, at least make ones that have some factual basis. <<DV>>

Transformers Movie information revealed
dviddy replied to UltraPrime's topic in Culture & Multimedia
It's too bad this isn't a G1 movie, and all the G1 fans seem to be forgetting that. It's not a remake of the G1 movie, it's not a remake of the G1 TV show or comic book. Like modern day Transformers series, the only thing it shares with G1 is the 'Transformers' name and transforming robots concept, and some character names. If we go with the Transformers multi-verse thing, this'd be a whole new TF universe we'd never encountered before. They G1 robot designs -are- silly and wouldn't work in the real world. Especially that whole 'mass-shifting' thing. It's a live-action movie. If you were expecting G1 CGI models and G1 transformation schemes, you're just as silly as those old-school designs. As for the changing of Megatron's head, I still say bah. Now he'll look too much like all the other Megatrons out there, and they're all friggin' boring. It was time for something new, and still is. As for some higher up guy swooping in and changing things, you do realize it was just a concept sketch we all saw. And it wasn't ever confirmed. Heck, even confirmed designs in other movies get changed. Who says it was fan complaints that got them to change the design? Could it be you were all just complaining about an unfinished product? *gasp* While I agree that Don Murphy's an idiot when it comes to PR (much like GregF seems to be sometimes), the Geewunner complaints aren't any better. <<DV>> -
Hate the green Inika blobs and axlish necks?
dviddy replied to Kahgarak's topic in LEGO Action Figures
I don't mind the way the Inika green blobs show through the front of the mask (though I wish they came in more colors), it's how they look from the back (empty) and their limited MOC usage that bugs me. This doesn't solve any of those problems, and loses the 'neat' eyes the green blobs give the Inika. Though I give it props for being innovative. <<DV>> -
The system peg fits into the pin hole on the Bohrok foot. If I still had it built, I'd probably worry about that. I imagine they, uh, catch on fire and grow ten times larger? Sure. <<DV>>

Gallery I'm not a fan of the 2006 Bionicle sets. So, I've been MOCing up several of the characters in forms more true to their personalities, or their old Matoran bodies. This one's Jaller, and I've been working on'm for, oh, forever? I'm pretty happy with how he turned out, and the system bits were pretty awesome to me. <<DV>>

So, been awhile. I'd lost the link to this place, and then just plain forgotten about it. So hey, I built this like, man, six months or so ago for BZP's BBC 34. Placed second, which isn't quite as I'd hoped (XD), but hey, it's all good. Thought I'd throw it up here for some feedback. <<DV>>

You know, human sacrifices were accepted a long time ago too... Perhaps we should bring those back? ;) Oh! How about religious crusades? Those were simply amazing, no? ;) Here, where I live? Almost every restaurant, every shopping center, every store has a gaggle of smokers standing right outside the door smoking, because it's not allowed inside. Yes, I would like that outlawed. Smoke in the privacy of your own home/car. It doesn't kill me then. But smoke in front of the only access to my destination? Yeah right. Like I'm going to support that. And I don't know what kind've place you live in, but here we don't have hazardous car fumes all over the place. We don't have factory fumes polluting the skies. And comparing exhaust fumes with cigarette/cigar fumes is unreasonable. The average exhaust fume is harmless. Only rarely will you come across poisonous car fumes. Cigarettes on the other hand, poison the air one hundred percent of the time. And it's been proven that second-hand smoke is even more dangerous than the smoke inhaled by the smoker. And it's rude of me to want to protect my health from a blatant attack on my health, how? Yeah. Watch someone die of lung cancer. It's not pretty. And then remember, that was caused by those nice little things we all call "cigarettes." Enjoy it then. <<DV>>

Jinzo, respectably, I must say your grasp of Christian theology is clearly second to none. You've clearly looked it over, and seen all there is to see. I'm glad you've been able to see the truth, and I'm sure now we'll be able to clue in the -one third of Earth's population- that believes in this obvious fallacy. Look, He's not asking you to kiss up. And He doesn't do it because He's vain. And I'm sorry, there's no invisible entity with a pitchfork in Hell. Not how it works. That's a common worldly misconception, and one almost as far from the truth as you can get. Satan's not in Hell, although one day he will be, as it was created for him and his ilk. He doesn't rule Hell, nor does he stay there. The Bible says he's here, on earth, prowling, hunting, and hoping to somehow screw us all over. And I'm sorry again, but what I've experienced goes far beyond being taught and indoctrinated througout my life. I've felt it, heard it. It's more real to me than anything else I have, can see, taste, hear, smell, feel. It's beyond comprehension. And it's not about good deeds. Not in the least bit. Works without faith are dead, and meaningless. Besides, we're all far too steeped in evil for our good deeds to make even the slightest dent in that which works against us. I don't care how much you give to charity, how many turkeys you give to those who won't eat a holday dinner otherwise, and in the end, neither does God. According to Scripture (which I know you disregard, but I'm explainin it from our view, so bear with me), even the smallest sin, the smallest selfish action, the tiniest infraction is a reason for death. Only perfection makes it to Heaven on it's own, and not a single one of us is perfect. No, not a one. And call it what you want, but when God Himself walks this earth, dies the worst form of torturous death ever devised by human minds, all because He wants us to be with Him forever, and then asks nothing of us in return but trust, and faith, I don't call that kissing up to a vain entity who's getting his jollies by us worshipping him. I mean, if that was the case, why give is free will? Why not just create an army of robotic people to do nothing but bow down and worship forever? Call it elitist if you wish. But personally, I find those that give up all they ever wanted, or wished to be, to the guidance of another, seems kind've the opposite of elitist. And I apologize for another off-topic, slightly arguementative post, but I felt my dear friend Jinzo deserved an explanation from this side. <<DV>>

Oh man, it was amazing. A few bits and pieces here and there bugged me, but it was extremely amazing. I enjoyed it so much. Definitely a must-have. <<DV>>

One of two cats, she's as fond of LEGOs as I am. I should see if I can find some pictures of our two Border Collies. Don't have any other pet pictures on the computer right now though, so you'll have to be happy with this'n. <<DV>>

You have to have people to smoke it before it can be smoked. One could clearly argue non-smokers were there first. Because no one came out of the womb smoking. Why is that so ridiculous? It kind've destroys the whole 'non-smoking' establishment thing, when you walk up, and there's a gaggle of smokers standing at the door, and in order to go inside you have to walk through a cloud... Seems like common sense... But I guess here in Oklahoma, the smokers are pretty much outnumbered, so we tend to grow up abhorring the whole smoking thing. But it's great that so many of you have been able to quit. If you can keep it up, it's one of the most amazing accomplishments in the world! Kudos! <<DV>>

O_O? Seriously? My signature comes from an Audio Adrenaline song. My favorite bands are all Chrisitian ones. My BZP sig is the Christmas story. I admin on a Christian webforum. I spend all my free time volunteering at my church. Sure, I could be a devout atheist and still do all those things. But I'm not. Why yes I'm a Christian. Devoutly. It's my lifeblood, my essence. Without it, I am nothing. I may get cantankerous, but I always mean my comments respectfully. I'm a frank person, it's part of who I am, and that's been a hard road of change. But that was so off-topic, it's not even funny. Let's end this whole religion thing now, yes? <<DV>>

Just to get this out of the way. It's all fine and dandy for you to believe this, but don't go stating it as outright fact. That may be how you see it, but it's not the way others do, and forcing your views on others as true, well, it's kind've not cool. Rude, even. Again, what you see as natural processes, for all we know, might've been put in place by the very god you deny existing. There're many views. Don't go pushing yours off as absolute fact, especially in the midst of a debate. Bad form. It's the very thing Christians are accused of every day. Seems to me it clearly happens both ways then. Anyway. I do have to say, I've always been skeptical about UFOs being aliens from other planets. Sure, UFOs are real. But as alien ships? I somehow don't think so. I'd be more apt to believe in the governmental technology they don't want you to know about conspiracy. We all know governments have plenty of technologies they've developed they're hiding from their citizens, until the time is right. *insert conspiracy music*... Why not UFOs as prototypical tech? But I don't rule out the alien angle. Might be kind've cool to meet aliens one day. I still hold out for that lightsaber... If only.. <<DV>>

I forgot, I'm a Sophomore. Majoring in Secondary Education (High School for those of you unfamiliar with the term), with a focus on English Literature. DV the high school teacher. Yeah! <<DV>>

And in the district I went to, it was even more different: Elementary school (k4-5th grade) 6th and 7th grade center 8th grade center Intermediate High school (9&10) Senior High (11&12) But I'm in college, Oklahoma State University. Probably for 3 years or so. <<DV>>

You know, around here, the airplanes and helicopters (which it kinda sounds like, with the hovering in place thing), have solid lights. The towers have blinking lights, but the planes are solid man. Solid! <<DV>>

And then comes how bad you are. Ever lied? Cheated? Stolen? We're all selfish, horrible people. Even Christians. Yes, there are those who do above normal good deeds. But most often, the bad far outways the good. No matter how much good you do, you'll never make up for it. And that's why Christians will look you in the eyes, unflinchingly, and tell you yes, no matter how good you are, without Jesus you're in Hell. I must say though, I'm not big on religion. It turns the spiritual side of things bland, and destroys the whole meaning of things. You go from a thriving relationship of growth and true Christ-reflection to boring, hypocritical 'go by the book' and live a moral life person. And that's not what it's about either. What can I say. I don't fit the stereotype, and I don't think Christians should. I do not however, think aliens existing is a conflict with my faith. While I personally don't think they exist, if they did, why must that contradict anything? It doesn't need to. So it won't. Besides, maybe then we'll get those lightsabers we all want, ne? The thought of aliens coming out to get me seriously terrified me when I was little. Like, seriously. Watched way too many Sci-Fi channel specials, lol. But man, terrified! <<DV>>
