  1. I think us Otters will be catching the first plane to Spain to see this in person when it's completed . You've been building this Town layout so long and thoroughly that it's become legendary! Have fun putting it all together my friend, I know you will!

    WIP: My Town

I must say this town looks lovely - the only thing I'd say it's missing are some more residents :) Can't wait to see what's going to be built at that construction site by the tracks.
  3. I've been away from the LEGO scene for a while, but the first thing I saw upon coming back to Town here @ EB was this piece of art... It's MOCs such as this one that inspire on a daily basis, my friend, and it's a pleasure for me to blog creations like this one! Great job, Marcos!
  4. As some of you might probably know, our Bulgarian LUG's first event took place over the course of three days last weekend. We had decided to combine the timing and location of our event with an international piano contest in order to reach maximum exposure - with the drawback of that decision being the fact that we only had very limited space for our Town layout. Of course, we tried to make the most of the situation without having our layout look too squeezed down - here is the outcome: The presence of TLG's official modulars limited the opportunity to display some of our MOC buildings - which is something we'll definitely try and avoid in our next event, even though in all honesty there were few visitors who had already seen one (or more) of those modulars live in person, so they were definitely a nice surprise. Our LUG's signature minifigs also made their first public appearance and were not only to be seen roaming our town, but also distributed among the visitors as prizes for their participation - or as gifts for the curious ones who tried out the Technic minifig dispenser machine, built specifically for the event. Georgi (a.k.a. georgivar)'s modern modulars provided a wonderful opportunity for kids and adults to see some more "modern" modulars, boosting their own elevators, A/C systems and even skyscraper lights. Talking about kids, over the three days we organized a number of competitions for children between 5 and 14 and gave away many awards. Here are some of the happy winners: All in all, our first event was a wonderful experience which wouldn't have been anywhere as successful as it has turned out to be without the help of TLG. We are already planning ahead for the future and hoping to organize another event with an improved and enlarged layout soon. In the meantime, it's back to the drawing board as we're currently busy building more buildings and MOCs for our newly found fans and friends to enjoy. Any comments and tips regarding future events or layouts would be greatly appreciated :)
  5. Thanks for that. And yes, if you look around, most MOCcers would post a link to a BL or flickr gallery with their MOCs. Of course, it's a matter of personal choice so you can feel free to add as many pics as you want straight in the topic, as long as they're not oversize. Otherwise loading up 10+ pics at a resolution of 1024x768 become a bit too heavy on the eyes and modems for some users. Well, I was merely suggesting it is always nice to give credit whenever credit is due. We have however already discussed that topic at length here on EB, so I guess at the end of the day it's all down to the MOCcer himself to decide what and how he shares about the creation.
  6. Vlado, two things: As noted down in the Member Guidelines of the forum. I hope you wouldn't mind downsizing those pics (all 14 of them). And the second thing - both your buildings follow a pattern and a design that is extremely familiar to some of us, and was seen before, as built by Georgi, a member of our LUG. Now I'm not claiming you've copied the buildings, and the designs themselves are quite generic, but it would perhaps have been nice of you to share that you've used our mate Georgi as an inspiration / reference.
  7. Poor balls! I can't help but feel for them... first the kids, and now a shark's intestines. Yecch!
  8. Ah, I hadn't seen this one!!! Well, it's surely going to have proper 4-wide company at the event, I can promise you that much Go Classic Town!
  9. Trust me, you will, Mario bro - once I get a bike and get you to roam Greece for LEGO with me @ Nicky: I've already said that on a couple of occasions, but I really love the progress you've made on this. It did go through three different phases, but now you have the chassis for a wonderful small Town car, much more believable than TLG's city cruiser! Looking forward to seeing it in person in a couple of days ;)
  10. Looking forward to seeing your progress on this project, lt :) Have fun!
  11. What a nice looking MOC indeed Andrew! Have you considered changing the roof structure of the blue building? I think the contrast would good there - even though I'm aware of the fact you can't really accomplish that with just the Cafe Corner bricks :/ P.S.: Come to think of it, you could try and SNOT the dark red roof slopes if you get the chance...
  12. Sir Dillon & LuxorV all the way for me
  13. You should bear in mind that what you're doing here is probably not the best way of advertising your forum. If it were an actual LUG we were talking about here, it would have sounded just about right, but the way it is now, I just can't see the sense of starting a separate forum for you and your friends and then going on to try and popularize it on Eurobricks. This kind of events seem to be occurring all the time lately and even though I applaud your willingness to commit to creating and administrating a new forum, I really do not see the point in doing so unless you can state a good reason for its existence in the first place. If it's a place for you and your pals to hang around, then you just don't need to try and make it an EB spin-off.
  14. As I've said on multiple occasions, as well as in "personal" discussions with you, I have no problems with your forum, the thing that bothers me here is the way you go about "advertising" it in my footsteps. If it does not leave a bitter aftertaste for you (it should), it definitely does so for me. I would very much like for people to know that there is a difference between both websites (and communities), and your actions are not helping that. Hopefully, you won't mind respecting my wish - there's tons of ways in which you could make your introduction and properly announce your hangout both on the Internet and specifically here on Eurobricks, so I would appreciate if you'd stop going about it in the precise same manner which got us into this in the first place. Thank you. P.S.: For example, here is a good place to start and let people know about yourself, your hobbies, your MOCs and your forum. Go ahead and make an introduction - and then enjoy your stay here on EB.
  15. Aren't you being a BIT too impudent, as usual, Vlado!?
  16. Heeeeeeey come ooon mate! You put the nails in your own coffin with that "Let's vote off the guards!" line, I never would have voted you off otherwise... But with that, it was just too easy to pass up the opportunity. No hard feelings, eh? And yes, I did play like a deserter, while never actually lying about it. Come to think of it, if anyone had actually followed up that invitation I gave them to search my backpack, I'd be out on the first day! But you guys never even thought about it. Sooo... in the end, we all die. How nice One cannot help but wonder what was the point of this anyway. If you ask me, the deserters should have been smart enough to see these things coming and most of them have probably managed to equip themselves with some Terminator shielding technology which will help them disappear after the Red Coats are gone and start their brand new lives... War... what is it good for anyway!!!
  17. Ah, sounds like this one is going to turn into quite a memorable weekend. I'm almost sorry for you, knowing that it's EB that has caused you all this... Almost Have fun mate :)
  18. I can't believe that Schumi is having such a bad season and is actually getting humiliated by Nico Rosberg! I mean, I know he's not in the best form of his life, but he's Schumacher nevertheless, and he is reunited with Ross Brawn... I guess that goes to show that unbelievable comebacks, although seen on quite a few occasions before, do not take place 5 years after you've quit the sport.
  19. A very happy (albeit belated ) happy birthday Mike! Hope you had a blast of a day, and a great start to your personal new year! Keep coppin'
  20. Apple-less Academy Absentee - Given by Dita after he noticed that I had no access to the Reviewers' Academy and realized I wasn't too keen on continuing with reviews anyway (I had used the term "dropout", but I'm happy he's spared me!). Besides, I'm not one to be petted and I certainly don't want any apple tags, thank you.
  21. Sure thing :) Just found one on Amazon, by the way. There he is:
  22. Got one of these a few days ago, weirdly enough mine is not one featured on that pic of yours and is nowhere to find on the 'net or @Brickset. So I guess he must be the "older" version. He's still fun anyway :) Feels a bit like a b-boy to me, constantly doing the robot moves (because of his legs' weird positioning)

    Quitting Lego

How about reading the thread first...? Jim, ironically enough, I'd rather start USBlox if I were you... I don't think you're anywhere near the Euro part of it anyway! Now, Rick for example - that's a different story - and I can totally see my good ol chum ditching LEGO and starting to shower in cheap megablocky bricks instead
  24. Well, seeing as I'm not going, I guess it would be fun if at least my sigfig would show up... Unless of course that's too much trouble for you Stash mate. My sigfig is my avatar; bikes in the background are optional
