  1. Long time no see jared! It's always nice to see another one of your brilliant modulars mate :] The side-by-side shot is stunning, I was definitely looking forward to that! Now all that remains is for you to add some vehicles to that Town corner of yours
  2. I'd recommend heading over to Brickshelf and doing a bit of surfing. You'd be surprised by the amount of various furnishings people have opted for when completing their modulars. Here's a great example with the one that started it all. As to me, I've tried making detailed interiors, but I find it's a bit of a waste of valuable bricks. There's no doubt that minifigs enjoy their houses even more that way, but if there's no way for all those details to be seen (other than lifting the roofs/ floors), then there's not much of a point in those, at least to me. That's why I tend to focus on ground floor decoration & interiors and leave it to the minifigs to take care of the other floors (which they never do, by the way...) I understand that decoration and furniture is one of the main ideas behind having modular structures in the first place, but I guess it's just not my personal priority.
  3. My thoughts in one sentence: Creator houses = best parts pack evAr! I must admit that I'm not too thrilled by the theme's latest designs though, or its compatibility with regular Town structures. I wouldn't consider putting Creator sets in a layout comprised of original Town sets, just like I wouldn't combine Modulars with regular Town, even though they definitely have a nice feel/look to them (or at least their exterior). That said, after the Beach House I haven't bothered actually building any more Creator houses. I still buy them for the parts they contain, although truth be told, I feel that it would have been a much better move if TLG were to keep their Creator House sets for a tad bit longer. I just don't see this line as having the need for constant "fresh supplies". For example, the yellow Beach House is a brilliant set and it's only right that it should enjoy the longevity it does - and that could have been the line to follow with other obvious fan favourites as well. Speaking of which, I definitely didn't see a good reason for last year's introduction of a new white-wall-house which is not much different from the one that (to my knowledge) started the entire Creator House line. At least with the Apple Tree House we did get new rooftiles... Not to mention that I still can't get over how quick LEGO stopped production of the brilliant Model Town House, which was arguably the best parts pack of them all, and introduced the Family Home that has a significantly worse price-per-piece ratio.
  4. Brilliant, this is quite simply brilliant! Following up on peterab's comment, are you selling these?
  5. Any development there mate? If the site is going offline, will it at least be back for a couple of days so that we can get the info from it?
  6. Very clean build Vincent, I absolutely love it! The colour scheme is spot on and the flowers lend the building a real touch of European feel to it.
  7. 2 points for Redcross' Clown Entry 1 point for riversarl's Ninja Entry I must say - GREAT JOB everybody! I haven't had the opportunity to check EB as often as I would have liked to these last few months, so going through all your wonderful vignettes was really mind-blowing! Great job everyone :]
  8. Love it! Definitely resembles the original, great SNOT work!
  9. Brilliant! Have you considered building a marina and a few more of these? Although I must agree with the Brickster hate, the feeling of tranquility is really overwhelming and very nicely captured, so crowding it might change that a bit. But judging by your MOCcing prowess, I don't think you'd make a wrong choice whatever you do
  10. Ah, a fellow competitor! I must say I loved your entry from the moment I saw it - looks very rural and authentic. Keep up the great work
  11. Thank you for your kind words guys. It's been a long time since our last more "serious" project, so this one was most enjoyable - despite the fact that there wasn't too much time to build it. As I've said, I'll update it sometime next month and post the finished version. Hopefully, a third modular will follow soon to round off the street. Thanks matey, you know how much that means coming from you. The arcades were actually the foundation which this whole project was based on, since I really wanted to have such a scenery in our town. I knew that the upper floors would turn out big this way, but I didn't expect them to consume THAT much bricks. Which is precisely why I'm currently trying to come up with some nice patio designs to make up for all of that space (and save me some building materials :P). Thanks ever so much Mario! A lot of thought went into picking out the appropriate colours, so it's great to know you like them as well! You can imagine how ecstatic I am... not to mention the otter alongside me! :D I'm glad you like it mate, the dome was inspired by one of lgorlando's many brilliant buildings.
  12. Please excuse me for reviving such an old thread, but Brickwiki hasn't been operational for the last week or so. Could anyone perhaps let us know what's up with the page and whether it will be available in the near future? Thanks!
  13. Built specifically for the Spring Contest held by our friends over at Brickenburg, this is our new modular ensemble. It's inspired by the narrow streets of old European cities surrounded by colonnades, little shops and interesting sights. The tan building is loosely based on the architectural style that can be seen along Berlin's Friedrichstrasse, and I guess the dark blue corner structure comes as a natural progression of our Flower Shop. Although pretty much the only thing we've kept there are the clam motives and the arches - and I guess it's obvious that this is not going to be a Flower Shop anymore. Even though both buildings were built for and successfully entered in the contest, being the fiddly otters that we are, we've now decided to do some more modifying. The tan building needs some very minor finishing touches here and there, and the corner structure might require a few more tweaks before I'm 100% satisfied with it. As to the VW van - it will have its own time to shine, once I find MY own time to take a few good pics of it and its older brother (4-wide ftw! ;) )
  14. What a great MOC! I've been looking around for a BNSF Caboose for ages and now you've gone ahead and actually built this one out of real bricks. It's a real treat to the eyes, congratulations! Got any pics of it coupled with the GP-38 itself?
  15. There you go- version 1 and version 2. Looks like something of a rarity. I had no idea that was the case... Which automatically makes it all the more appropriate!
  16. Luckily, I own that chicken after purchasing random bricks in bulk, and I absolutely LOVE it. That idea of yours sounds very nice mate, hats off! I'll make sure to try and use it - even if it isn't necessarily applied as the sign for a food chain...
  17. Thanks a mill mate, I'll drop you a PM!
  18. Nailed it! Inspiring work, tunamint! Are you planning on any further additions to this layout, such as classy+classic trackside structures, etc.? I'd love to see your take on a "classic" looking railway station!
  19. I seem to have missed this one - with all the hype surrounding the new Smart, I must say you've really provided an excellent addition to that set. I've recently built a car transporter waggon for my BNSF, but I'm not too happy with its length and functioning. In that sense, I love how you've combined both of these aspects in your creation, nice job :)
  20. I agree with Section8 here. As a huge Spyrius fan, I'd have liked to see some more in-depth information of the sets. I'm currently debating whether to go ahead and complete my Spyrius collection with the acquisition of the 6949 Robo-Guardian... I guess I will, even if it is just to see how they look side by side with the Recon Robot.
  21. Thanks for the tips mate, but no, S@H is not available for Bulgaria (yet). As for Germany, I'm more than familiar with its nice countryside, and I've found it to be most enjoyable when viewed through a clear visor while roaming B roads on two wheels. Unfortunately, at the moment I'm not in a position to take a prolongued break and head off to DE for road tripping, or LEGO hunting - otherwise I most definitely would! That's precisely why I'm using EB as a viable alternative to that.
  22. Hey wait a sec, you're Usain Bolt compared to me & Asya - we still haven't even got started on an actual layout. So don't worry, there's always someone (way) slower than you! Looking forward to those pro photos you were talking about... sounds delicious!
  23. MetroiD

    NHL fans?

I'm very disappointed that the Rangers didn't make the playoffs, but then again they would have crashed out anyway, so... I guess I can hope for the best for 2010-2011.
  24. Tin foils! Take out the tin foils!!! In all seriousness though - Hawking is a brilliant man and anyone who doubts that should just read his Brief(er) History of Time - but this is one thing he can only make a wild guess about. Unlike physics where there are certain foundations on which to base further exploration, anything beyond this Earth of ours is 100% terra incognita, and that includes chemistry and biology outside the realms of what we live in, not to mention alien life forms, intellect or psychology. One thing I myself am sure about is that the thought of us being the only "intelligent" (whatever that means) life forms among billions and billions of stars is... rather egocentric.
  25. Well, after having been on the lookout for some time, I finally decided that it would be a good idea to try purchasing LEGO products through EB members again, seeing as it's pretty much my best option for Exclusives. I've had experience with buying sets from a fellow EB member from the UK and everything went perfectly well, I hope I can repeat that with someone who'd be willing to help me obtain a few exclusives. In particular, I'm interested in the 10193 Medieval Market Village and the 10197 Fire Brigade. I'm from Bulgaria, Europe, so postage from the USA is not really an option for me, unfortunately. It would be absolutely perfect if there were any members from England willing to help me with that, seeing as shipments from the UK to Bulgaria are within reasonable price ranges and they are also handled very quickly. As for paying, I prefer to use PayPal and am, of course, ready to reimburse anyone who's willing to "do business" with me for their time, as well as their PayPal expenses. So if anyone has a spare 10193 or 10197 or is willing to buy one for me and deliver it to Bulgaria, please do let me know. Thanks in advance to anyone who'd be willing to help.
