Thanks for the kind comments guys. In reality, the only real problem with these figures is that they get dirty pretty quickly (which I guess is only natural, considering the amount of white cloth in their apparel), so we have to keep them in a cabinet to avoid them getting dusty & grey in between events.

LOL, I actually did mess up Paraguay and Uruguay. It's funny because **insert Ray William Johnson joke here**... OK, it's been a very long day for me and the above just goes to show that I'd better go catch some Z's. Well done to La Furia, they deserved to book a place in the quarter finals. The World Cup is indeed starting to look interesting, albeit without my favourites.

Hmmm, for some reason I was pretty sure about the outcome of Paraguay's game. Didn't even bother to watch it. I haven't watched the World Cup since England crashed out anyway :/ As to the games - dig this: a German referee was refereeing Paraguay's game today, and a referee from Paraguay helped send Germany to the quarter-finals a few days ago... Coincidence? Ah, Sepp Blatter, don't we all LOVE FIFA. And by the way, did you know that FIFA have banned all replays of disputable situations during the game. Wise move indeed. So much better than introducing additional technology/ regulation to make sure that referees don't mess up big games anymore.

Hello? Did you perhaps miss what I said earlier? Give it a rest already, this thread is NOT for that kind of pointless debating.

Off the top of my head, I recall that the 6542 Seaport had over 1000 pieces... Probably the best Seaport TLG have ever made ;) P.S.: But I don't think the new TRU Exclusive will have more than 600-700 bricks at best. Still, it does look good!

Let me join the ranks of Civilization fanboys... I totally LOVE that game, but to be honest I still prefer the original Civilization and its follow-up (branded as a bastard offspring of sorts :D), Colonization, which to this day has remained severely underrated. I haven't spent too much time playing Civilization 4, although I definitely liked the changes they'd made - I will however buy Civ 5 when I can and try to make up for that Oh, and thanks for the heads-up, Forresto! I used to review games as an editor of a magazine back in the day, but since then I've lost all touch with the gaming world :/

So be it mate, sorry for the trouble.

Guys, would you please stop this already? It's childish and there's not even a sense of rubbing it in, in the football banter kind of way, seeing as these teams drew in their direct game and then both bowed out of the Cup in the same round. @ Zorbas: Che Zorbavaaaarroooo... che capitaaanoooo

Not sure if this is the best place for this thread, but at the end of the day these are still minifigs, and they're most definitely hand customized, so here goes... I guess some of you might have seen the LEGO Articulated Plush 'mini'figs. For the ones that haven't - here's the kind of plushie we had on our hands 'before': (not my photo) A couple of those, a few hours of work put in by my significant Otter, some cloth, make-up tools, miscellaneous materials and glue, and voila, the 'after' picture: These two are meant to represent our LUG's symbol/ sigfigs, Pesho and Rada, clad in national Bulgarian costumes: Asya is not planning on doing any more plush minifig customization (she says it's a very fiddly business), or tailoring any more minifig costumes - at least for now... But I still wanted to hear what you guys make of these two

Due to some previous experience with mischievous kids' hands, we now make sure to always use Tensabarriers around layouts... It's safer that way

Please refrain from quoting posts with multiple pictures in them. Thanks!

And I've just seen your new avatar! It's... glorious As to the World Cup - FIFA have done all that's within their authority to turn this whole football festival into a travelling circus, and it's been this way for some time now. The World Cup has turned into a tournament of mediocre quality for too many reasons nowadays and this year's edition has just proved that.

Welcome Asilla! Good luck on your Fabuland hunts - you'll need it, especially since there are a few forum members here who have a special (inexplicable ) love for that theme :]

Here are the two YT videos from that show (careful with the volume!): From what I can see, you ran a couple of trains on the same loop, did you only use one connecting wire for the entire loop or did you have multiples?

As I commented earlier, I think that the Beach House is one of the best Creator House sets. Great price-per-piece ratio, 3 very nice designs in the original set, as well as the novelty factor are what puts it above the Apple Tree House, at least in my books. Once again - the Apple Tree House is a nice set, but it would have been much better if it had offered something different in comparison to other Creator houses.

Weirdly enough, after reading through this thread, it seems that I'm the only one who actually has a real gripe with the stickers. I'm not going to complain about preferring printed bricks, since that much is obvious - and besides I feel that the inclusion of printed slopes was a nice gesture towards us AFOLs anyway, so I'm pretty much fine with the inclusion of a sticker sheet. What definitely bugged me though was the quality of printing of the stickers I received. Poorly overlayed colours, discolouring here and there, mismatched printing... I could hardly believe my eyes! Perhaps I should take a few pics to prove that I'm not just being picky - but the worst part is that the mismatched printing was also evident on the printed slope bricks. So while I do think this is a brilliant set, I found the quality of prints on those printed slopes and the sticker sheet absolutely appalling, and to be honest it ruined some of the excitement of finally building/owning this set. I've contacted LEGO Customer Support and asked for a replacement sticker sheet seeing as the LRTS logo and the big 10194 numbers on both sides of the engine definitely look VERY bad... Anyone else had this problem?

Personally, I haven't really found too much use for the blue rooftiles yet, but I don't think that those rooftiles alone provide sufficient grounds to introduce an entire new set... Dunno, it may just be me, but I'd really have loved it if TLG had released the new Apple Tree House in some colour other than white.
-
Actually, with that first Bonanza set I thought they pretty much nailed it - a simple building in terms of bricks included, which however also offers lots of fence pieces. If you put that one, the yellow Beach House and the big bad Model Town House side by side, you'd have a perfect line-up - a cheap set which offers lots of playable feature in the Beach House, a medium-priced set with a 'meh' kind of build but great if you need bricks, and then at the top - a superbly designed set AND the best parts pack possible.

Well it's been a few months now, so I guess it's safe to assume Brickwiki is done for. Which is definitely a pity.
-
Ah, precisely! For one reason or another I couldn't find it even though I knew I saw it on the pic up there, thanks for the correction :] Guess I owe you yet another beer then?

I must agree with davee123 here. I for one actually applaud TLG's decision to provide kids with a dedicated board and all other kinds of tools they might find interesting in order to bring them even closer to the brand. Besides, would you rather have those children flooding EB and other AFOL-oriented forums? Didn't think so! Plus, I'm convinced that any AFOL or generally person who's recently come out of their dark age is one search away from finding sites which are central to all AFOL activities, such as BrickLink, Brickshelf, even MOCpages to some extent, and - naturally - Eurobricks. AFOL-run blogs are also a big hit and would definitely be hard to miss if you search for anything LEGO these days. The step from those to flickr, EB and the likes is really a very small one :)

Just what I was about to say! Where are those damn "bratushka" folk when we need them the most! They'd have kicked some serious a$$ during this tournament ;]
