  1. If rarity is what people value then modding it would make your version ever rarer. I think the main reason most people don't do it is that it takes more time and effort.
  2. I was very surprised that they re-did the printing on the x-wing/snowspeeder pilot for the new microfighter. It seems like for whatever reason they weren't happy with it. This could explain why we are getting another Luke in the new snowspeeder rather than Wedge.
  3. This is so much better than the rigging. I have never understood why people are willing to pay a fortune for it when there are alternatives like this.
  4. The preliminary photos are pretty clear about what figures are in the AT-AT and Star Destroyer
  5. Technically the ones without a rank badge are officers but if you mean a ranked officer like Lt Tanbris then you are correct.
  6. I'm talking about the light grey uniform with a dark hat, as in http://www.theforce..../execpits01.jpg I doubt it's interesting to most people but it is one of the only original trilogy imperials that has never been done before in lego as far as I can tell. As well as being good for star destroyer bridges they can also be used as technicians for the Millenium Falcon scanning crew.
  7. I was recently trying to find a suitable torso for "imperial crewman" and there didn't seem to be one so it's nice to see one in the new star destroyer.
  8. Thank you. No disrepect at all, I have considered doing this myself but I have never found a clone set that was cheap enough that I would buy it just for that one part. I have always found it really annoying that there is no suitable Lego part.
  9. Superb SSD, I might have a go at this some time. Sorry for the off topic question but what is the windscreen you are using on your X-Wing?
  10. Very cool. You've just inspired me to dig out my 6361 crane and build it.
  11. I have admired your work for some time but you just get better and better with every build. This is absolutely incredible and very inspiring! I personally prefer the open back to having walls on all four sides. It is more accessible for play and you get to see the interior during display. I have even modified my official modulars to have an open back.
  12. It might be small by department store standards, but it is still 80 studs wide and 7 stories high.
  13. You will never be able to make it a realistic size, since it appears to be based on Harrods which is this big: For me, the issue with the Grand Emporium is that there is not enough space inside to fit much of a shop. It doesn't help that the escalators take up so much of the floor space. I would think about what you want to put inside and how big an interior you want and then make the building big enough to accommodate that.
  14. Jamie has invaded my mind and stolen my chimney design from an unreleased MOC. I suspect TLG are dabbling in the dark arts
  15. This is excellent, I particularly like the bar. I would have been tempted to make it 24 studs wide instead of 32, but maybe you made it wider on purpose to fit in more interior so feel free to ignore me. I feel like the upper floors could do with being a bit taller.
  16. A new Greedo would be good, but I'd prefer to see more aliens in a Cantina set. I'd swap out the droids and sandtroopers for the bar tender (Wuher) and a few more aliens. They were able to introduce several new moulds in the recent Jabbas sets so this shouldn't be out of the question in terms of cost.
  17. Thank you. It is just missing your A-Wing
  18. Of course, it is obvious now you say it. For some reason I thought he should be further forward but now he's in there it looks perfect. Thanks again for all your help.
  19. I've pretty much finished my build and this thing looks even better in person. I am very grateful to Brickwright for sharing the design and taking the time to make the instructions. It took me longer to finish than expected because I started off using mostly newer light bluish grey parts and it ended up looking far too clean and new. I sourced a lot more old light grey parts from Brick Link and even managed find a few yellowed parts on there. The picture below doesn't really manage to capture all the different shades of grey, but it looks really cool in person. It would definitely look even better with more old yellowed parts and I will be trying to find some more. Unfortunately there are not very many on Brick Link. I've built this pretty much straight to the instructions but I am planning to play with the greebling because it looks like great fun. I would also like to somehow add landing gear at the front. The struts coming off the nacelles were stronger than I expected and the way the domes are connected using rubber bands is ingenious and works really well. There are a few weak points in the structure though. The area around the droid socket is pretty weak and might be strengthened by hooking the sides up to the front somehow. The cockpit area falls apart quite easily but I have no idea how it could be strengthened. I'm not really sure how the pilot is supposed to go in the cockpit, is it by bending his legs backwards? It seems pretty tight in there. In summary, this model looks amazing and I have had great fun building it. It will fall apart pretty quickly if given to a child to play with but it is the most accurate minifigure scale Y-Wing around. And here it is with my Psiaki X-Wing, Renegade Clone B-Wing and Larry Lars Snowspeeder:
  20. "Which piece are we looking for again?"
  21. It is confusing, some people say the copper tubed one is Gold 2. Technically the R5-F7 unit belongs in Gold 4, but there is no information that I can find on what Gold 4 is supposed to look like. I know that the gold rings on the front of the engines weren't exclusive to Gold Leader, so who's to say that you don't have a perfectly accurate Gold 4 there? I don't think it matters as long as it looks cool.
  22. I've been looking at what little information I can find about the studio models in the original film and it seems that Gold Leaders Y-Wing doesn't have much copper tubing if any, and Gold 5 has a lot. I am personally not bothered about these kinds of details in a Lego model and will be using the copper tubing because it looks cool, but it is certainly an option to use grey tubes if the copper are hard or too expensive to source.
  23. Congratulations on the build, it looks amazing in the photos! and thanks for the update, I'll be building this soon.
  24. He probably didn't even cover the cost of the bricks, so it is hardly making money off of someone else's work.
