The Ultrabuilds were really to tie in to the upcoming movies (Avengers and Dark Knight), much like action figures do. The Superhero movies this summer are going to be Man of Steel and Iron Man 3, so we might get something then.

So based on the timeline, Core Hunter's defection is post-Von Ness? Because if I remember right, it was pointedly stated that VN was the first of their kind to go bad (but then, as presented with the book timeline, he was on the first Hero team as it is anyway, so not terribly unsurprising). Either way, I love that this is all tying into the various media. There are some discrepancies here and there, but there's an actual effort to tie in these various media bits, which is something HF was definitely was lacking (too bad the comics decided to go in a different direction, but ah well, can't have it all).

New Omega recon update was good. Provided a good explanation as to why Stringer was not present for the final battle (a damn sight better than "I forgot where I parked my Hero Pod!"), and was an unexpected twist on the general storytelling of the reports. However, it's labeled as report number 6. Which is just wtf.

The helmets better be a new design =P. Haven't gotten a repeat of helmets two years in a row. Makes you wonder if we'll get helmets like the 2.0 style again, or what.
-
I noticed :) Back to work, slave. But seriously, gotta learn what happens in those books, man.

Nah, the Omega Recon guy is a different dude. He's following the Alpha 1 Team on their adventures, but whether or not it's a bunch of guys reporting for a single team or just one dude in general is something I don't know. Also yaaaaaaaay more books.
-
Oh yeah, we discussed that, didn't we? =P. It was referenced in the latest mag issue too (where it was claimed that the designs themselves were stolen, not a prototype, but I'm generally more inclined to go with the website on this one.

Inside Scoop on LEGOclub.com, but here's the link: http://club.lego.com/en-US/insidescoop/InsideScoopDetails.aspx?id=462274

The philosophical quandary known as the "Ship of Theseus" is why. I kinda get it, and I was definitely more that way with BIONICLE sets, but I've taken to generally modding HF sets to the point where they are vastly improved, but look almost identical.

I have Stormer XL, and I'll probably wait for some sales for the rest of the summer sets. Also, they added another "Omega Recon" report. I still can't figure out who/what the heck "Omega Recon" is, but at least they didn't have the horribly confusing "Alpha" bit.

Yeah, it sucks that people have no inclination to break confidentiality and potentially damage the sales and reputation of LEGO. People are just terrible for not doing that, aren't they?
-
Toxic Reapa is hunchbacked. Really, it wouldn't be at all hard (although I quite like Von Nebula when you make his head more upright. Gives him a regal look).
-
Got Stormer XL. He's a pretty sweet set. Although I gotta say, I don't get why his back doesn't use the short torso; it wouldn't give him gorilla arms.
-
Bizarre... but... okay, I guess?

I'd like to see more Recon Heroes, but thaaaat's just me. I think we'd probably get new Heroes. Maybe a collection of the younger Alpha 1 guys have their own team of rookies to train, or something. Continue the same trends.
-
Daniel Rocka. That is all.
-
Haha, all three seem to be the best well-received sets of the line (ignoring Stringer and his sweet gear) so I dunno. Only have so much money at the moment, so my decision will probably be last minute and dependent on the stock they have at the time.

I don't actually think a lot of people hate XT4 anymore. A lot of people just THINK that everybody should hate XT4. Most of the prejudice was abandoned once we got clearer pictures and a better understanding of the set itself. Anyhow, I'm going to get some summer sets today/tomorrow (finally; I forgot I had a Target giftcard). Which should I get? I'm leaning toward Core Hunter and Bulk, but should I maybe just splurge and get Stormer instead?
-
Over a week since somebody posted here? Hah. Anyhow, got the LEGO mag today. Cool two-page spread with Stormer and Speeda Demon. Not terribly interesting, but fun to look at.

Well, for one, we haven't proven that the GB actually hates Toa (he might be the murderer in question, but that could be for other reasons entirely). The express reason for being a Matoran was so the GB could be innocuous and observe the flow of the universe uninterrupted, and what better way to do that than do be as small as possible and not have anything required of you. inorite? Were people literally waiting for an excuse to reignite the BIONICLE v HF debate? Gotta love that internet.

They're not de-canonized, or retconned, or anything of the like... they were just sort of rendered moot by future story developments. (and for the record, the teleporting thing is canon, it's just hard to describe it as such because they aren't allowed any powers). Anyhow... I suppose I should have mentioned this at some point, sorry =P. Yeah, we contacted Greg. And yes, this particular plot point isn't super helpful, but it was the thing that stuck out to me, since it was deliberately started and then left unresolved. If we get any more information, we'll let people know, but really... any info without context isn't going to be useful, so this is better than nothing.

The only other one I can think of is Wikipedia, so... yeah. Maybe it's true, maybe it isn't, but it has been an amusingly unsourced bit of speculation for a while.
-
That's an old sales trick. If something isn't actually super in-demand, you leave one out as bait, and keep an eye on it. Once it sells, replace it with another from the stock.

Conversation switch! So I picked up the DK readers "Heroes In Action" from the library, just for the heck of it. It basically just recaps the Breakout episode, so not much there. The only two things of note were: 1. Rookie status. Everybody except Stormer is a rookie, apparently. 2. It does actually call attention to how Voltix breaks out, in that he can create electrical projections of his body (or, I suppose, Von Nebula's), which can phase through the bars of Hero Factory cells. So yeah. Not much interesting, and ends on a doom and gloom note, but the Voltix thing was bugging me, and it's good to see that addressed somewhere.

I suppose that's what I'm actually hoping for, is a theme; at least that way they can avoid repeating ideas (such as the 1.0 helmets) without sacrificing too much creativity. It more just relates to my interest and how willing I would be to actually buy the new sets now that we've seen these. I'm still working on collecting 100% of Breakout, but here is sort of a crossroads I find myself of how much I could actually afford to purchase a new wave. I'm excited, but there's some trepidation.
