  1. I didn't think the fight was that bad; short, sure, but for six Toa fighting against a probably non-sapient monster, not so bad then. It's not like LOSS had any super powers or anything.
  2. Nice, I didn't notice that before. Cute. As for Dimensions, they might well make reference to it at some point, but the line would have to run much longer to see some kind of actual BIONICLE figure, probably.
  3. Direct link for the pic.
  4. Hah, the heads are shaped like "Easter" island, get it?
  5. Natch, took a great picture of this cobblestone formation that looked exactly like the Mask of Control, but then I lost it. Bummer.
  6. Yeah, even if it's not real, they have some talented/dedicated guys working on it. Wish I had that kind of help... =P
  7. I think we deduced that the Russian Okoto alphabet wasn't technically "official", it was just specific to their own activities and minigames that they were doing. Worth noting at some point, but not a precise system like the Matoran Alphabet was. As for that map, though, digging the similarities. Official or not, it's pretty cool.
  8. I'm sure there will be some kind of oversight; they can pull together judges for an MoCing contest, so sifting through photographs shouldn't be too different. It's a lot easier to just accept all the entries at once and DQ later, rather than individual vetting; that's just impractical.
  9. I would think not; if it's not apparent from the photo, then it's probably not the best of examples, y'know? Depends on how slight, I guess. Something to ask the contest hosts!
  10. For anybody looking for some inspiration, Christian Faber recently posted how he saw an "Iron Man" face in the side of a building; it's this kind of creativity that I'm sure the contest hosts are looking for!
  11. I'm sure there will be some kind of final check for veracity. I'll totally try and enter, I think it sounds neat.
  12. Only buying BIONICLE? Usually it's all I budget myself for, but if there's another set that catches my eye, I won't say no out of hand. I'll certainly be going for the Vader set this year, and Greivous if he looks good. There's a phrase I never thought I'd see.
  13. I'm short Protector of Jungle, but I'm saving that in case we do get another GWP somewhere down the line. I bought four of the sets, and got the rest as review copies (which should be going up soonish).
  14. It might very well be a contest of sorts, but not necessarily a building one. They might have you solve trivia, or something of the like. In which case I should probably excuse myself, but if it's a straight giveaway I'm totally going for it.
  15. So yeah, how about that golden mask giveaway. Which one do you guys think they'll give away? I know they focused on the Kakama for most of the episode, but it could be anything really.
  16. I'm saying there's a difference between "I didn't like this episode" and "BIONICLE has had poor content thus far". Subjectively, you might not have liked what came out, but objectively, there has been content of quality. Either way, this is still a discussion, so you can't say it hasn't sparked conversation :U I wasn't making any particular judgment call on the quality, though; just an oh so witty observation on how things the (vocal minority of the) fanbase feels aren't always indicative of what's really going on. I think (personal opinion!) that people who have been saying there's a "drought" aren't really paying attention, or are otherwise spoiled by leaked info and feel entitled to more. I was referring to the leaked internal document that revealed the GWP for this month and (I think) the books as well, though it made no mention of the graphic novels, for instance. Both of which are a far cry from "it won't happen because I have been to the top of the mountain and seen all there is to see you will worship me as though I were a god". RVB reference aside, I think that not knowing what to expect doesn't automatically feed into expecting nothing, so I don't quite understand the pessimism.
  17. There's a difference between the actual quality of something and someone's opinion of said quality; you're focusing almost exclusively on the latter and conflating it with the former. Not to mention in the case of having "sparked discussion" that's pretty much just wrong. Granted, I don't have page statistics for here or elsewhere, but this topic alone has carried us through over 500 pages of discussion. Because we all know the community is both accurate and non-fickle every time ;) Would it have? Just because we've exhausted one internal (leaked!) document doesn't mean we know everything that's going to happen. This is the sort of entitlement I was referring to; because we were privy to some secrets that we weren't supposed to know suddenly makes us knowledgeable about everything. Well, given LEGO's comments about how they wanted to emulate the style of the early years, this doesn't really surprise me; I mean, really what we're all talking about is a lack of serials (that not even Hero Factory got, mind you!). While I was a big fan of these serials, they also often unnecessarily convoluted the plot, introduced characters that had no relevance/point without sets, and could otherwise be unfocused. Going back to that was never in the agenda, and, to me, it's weird that people keep expecting it.
  18. There's a difference in quantity of media vs the quality. The story beats that we've had are relatively on par, despite having been told through "less" media overall. Not to mention that for three months we've actually had a fair bit of stuff to digest as it is; bizarre release/leaking schedule aside, we've had a series of webisodes, assorted magazine inserts and LEGO club articles, and a detailed (if not always organized) website that updates fairly regularly, as well as various other bits and pieces. Just because we don't know about what's upcoming doesn't mean it isn't going to come; for every future thing we have heard about (don't even get me started on how entitled people get when they hear about leaks), there's something we've gotten that nobody knew about as well. The past three months have been solid, and I'm confident that even with the occasional lull, there's still going to be plenty of stuff to digest and talk about. It's not like it'll be radio silence from episode 9 to the summer (and if it is, THEN you can criticize LEGO's poor media campaign, rather than preemptively condemning it).
  19. Compared to, say, Hero Factory, I'm personally more okay with a slow burn winter wave. Hero Factory frontloaded all of its story and such, but BIONICLE has usually saved the big guns for the summer. Think 2007; even in the story media we actually got, next to nothing happened, but then the Toa Mahri arrived and everything went bananas.
  20. I haven't opened Onua yet, although I do have high hopes. Gali is just okay; the colors are a mess, and the design is flawed in some places, but it also has some really cool parts, and the trident is a legit weapon.
  21. Well, he was convinced that they all needed to work together as a team; yeah, in particular, he did it by being overtly cheerful. In this case, he was letting them sort out their minor interpersonal squabbles while he looked out for the oncoming threat. "Big picture" kinda guy, as it were.
  22. Eh, I think those parts are still mostly the same. Kopaka's attitude at it's core is still "I don't feel feeling who said I did" and Pohatu is still very much the "we all gotta work together guize". Only this time he's, y'know, actually saying it for a reason.
  23. I'm sure someone has and got the traditional "didn't plan that far" response. The most insight we've gotten into the post-finale serials was when Greg recently revealed that Takanuva's destiny theoretically had something to do with what would be a GB civil war (which actually sounds like an amazing concept, but anyway). Everything else (Marendar, etc.) was just bits and pieces that were left stranded. The fact that we later found out Velika and the Red Star is amazing enough, honestly =P.
  24. Hey, it's things like that which convince me that they care, unlike what people say. They could have easily left it, but they bothered to go back and change it. That's nice. Anyway, Pohatu be all like "shut up guys I'm trying to look off heroically into the distance"
  25. An unfortunate example of pseudo-retconning; in essence, both answers are correct. Lhikan's life force would have had faded anyway, but he was also revived on the Red Star. Greg, when writing about the Red Star's revival function, actually at one point implied that Jaller's resurrection was related, but never followed up on it, so it stayed the same canonically.
