  1. That's the thing, I don't think it's trying to pretend otherwise; it's part of a campy appeal they're trying specifically to go for. If they wanted to include more voice actors, they probably could.
  2. I love how they link to the German website. I wonder I can just, like, volunteer to be a social media intern for them, because there's all these mini mistakes that could easily be avoided. Anyway, Episode 7 was probably the best one so far. Action, good character moments, and a sweet suspenseful cliffhanger. Not bad for 90 seconds.
  3. Saving most of my Pohatu thoughts for a full review (review copies <3) but I'm okay with the boomerang friction thus far. Just strong enough.
  4. Can we please not call the dual color Toa Masks funmetal? The whole joke was that funmental was an easy typo error from gunmental; applying the term to something else just makes that confusing and unfunny.
  5. Oh, thought you were talking about the comics that are included on the boxes.
  6. Where's this coming from?
  7. Tahu's is a little loose for me, and Lewa's definitely doesn't fit right because of how the set is designed overall. But it's not so bad; it's not falling off when the set is just standing still. They're as bad as, say, the 2001 Kanohi =P.
  8. Whoop got Lewa so I could get the Hero Pack. Was thinking about getting PoJ too, but I'll save that for a later date (in case there's another GWP down the line =P).
  9. I think part of the problem is that we never really got a sense of a lot of these personalities, what drives them, from their actual appearances; we were told, not shown, for the most part. It had to be inferred from the supplementary material. BIONICLE G2 has sort of fallen in to the same routine, but part of that has to do with the oddly plotted animations; Tahu and PoF are actually a lot of fun to watch, but so far it's been only them. The website descriptions are great (and thankfully we see that come out in the character animations), but I think the books are where it'll start to shine.
  10. He still had a launcher, but yeah, the year before is when there stopped being action features. The giant robot twist was actually planned from the beginning! Certain aspects were altered or switched, but the twist was part of the central conceit of BIONICLE when it was first conceptualized. Hence why there were a lot of subtle hints toward it.
  11. Whoever said that things on the internet last forever clearly was not referring to old box shots of LEGO sets. Oy.
  12. Don't forget, we're told the Protectors used the Masks of Power given to them by Ekimu and Makuta to literally shape the island... the mountain chains were possibly an intentional construct by the villages for whatever reason. The quiz is obviously 100% foolproof you are now Lewa. You will use this sig and you will LIKE IT.
  13. Toa Personality Quiz for anybody who's interested.
  14. The Proctector masks are functional... I mean, for all we know, they've been using elemental masks longer than the Toa, just with less power. If anything, the Toa's seem more ceremonial, since somebody went out of their way to make gold versions of it =P. But yeah, fine episode. Not much happened, but it at least acknowledges the other Toa, which has probably been one of the more interesting aspects of the animations so far.
  15. It means they WANT it to sell well =P. There have been mixed reports on how well it's doing. I'm not super worried, though. Constraction always does what it needs to do.
  16. Got the shop catalog in the mail today. BIONICLE gets top billing, which hasn't happened in a while.
  17. Only gonna get better~ (once everybody agrees that the Vahi doesn't mean anything[/shot])
  18. Man, they always put those things up right after I think to check for them =P. Interesting choices... too bad I don't need either of those. Oh well.
  19. So... 2002 was a lazy excuse, then?
  20. It wasn't YEARS and years ago; I remember getting parts up through 2013, so only about a year and a half, have they been canceled, I'd say. They revamped the Pieces and Bricks service at around the same time, if I'm recalling correctly.
  21. I more meant in terms of story; the whole concept of Toa Kaita was dropped after a few years because the team didn't feel like shoehorning in combiners, when combiners finally stopped being canon (2006) the fans went a little bonkers, and then latter year story combiners were lucky if they got anything above some small mention in the serials. Here, they're not pretending that combiners have any relevance; the "power up" models aren't technically in the official story, and then the alternate Protector/Master combiners are being slowly doled out. But that doesn't mean they don't have a place in the overall line, and that's part of what I like about G2; it doesn't particularly care whether or not these combiners are story-proof, and is content for you to use them as you see fit.
  22. Right, but then we also have Makuta, who has yet to be seen in set form... even if he does, it likely won't be both forms (although I can dream~). If he does appear later on, his design will reflect the particular style of the year, whatever that may be (Ekimu has transparent armor, Protector mask, and stud shooter, all hallmarks of the current year). So while the scorpion warriors are "based" on sets, it's only because everything in the animations is that sort of style. Hero Factory included plenty of characters that were based on sets, but never truly released; that's part of the beauty of CCBS. Well, it's not like the Skull people would look exactly as they did when they were alive, but I digress =P. That's my point; they could be a lot of different things, or nothing at all. It's what you make of it. Hey, in 2013 they crossed over Chima Ultrabuilds and Hero Factory. Who knows what we could see this year?
  23. I think there's more of a shift in focus from "limited" to "unlimited" creativity; on the BIONICLE Facebook page, LEGO recently posted a bunch of designer MoCs, and then there was the BFTGM contest, etc. They don't want the universe to inhibit creativity, as it somewhat did last time, but rather inspire it.
  24. The ones seen here, near Pohatu's Golden Mask of Stone. (sorry, best pic I could find, but you can see it pretty well) Unrelated, but how long have these wallpapers been up on BIONICLE.com? There's some neat ones there.
  25. Haha, yeah, I'm lucky enough to live pretty close to one (even closer since I moved, it's a 10 minute jaunt away). But mall parking is mall parking, and ain't nobody got time for that. I liked Tahu's more after seeing this battle pose, but this Ice one is even better. Wings! Who knew?
