  1. Wicked build! Certainly deadly on a field like this! Nice concept, and great idea to give the figure rockets! All the components of the build are well constructed, and smooth. I just don't see how that field could possibly be regulation. ~Insectoid Aristocrat
  2. This is a very interesting concept, and well executed! I can imagine this would be a very difficult sport, and you'd certainly need some sort of specialized attire. Very cool! ~Insectoid Aristocrat
  3. Ha! This is a great addition to the Olympics! Someone had to do it, right? Great work! Also, I like that your sports outfit and Dr. Long's are so similar! Really shows the other factions that Octan is a unified force, and certainly not one to be messed with! ~Insectoid Aristocrat
  4. Very unique take on the shooting range idea! Great work on the gun! ~Insectoid Aristocrat
  5. Thanks. Well, Dr. Long does enjoy enforcing rules... and she doesn't really like driving fast or unpredictably. How she got roped up in the Olympics is the question! ~Insectoid Aristocrat
  6. Bienvenue Trisatn, to our Glorious nation, and to our glorious forum! May Zeus's light shine upon your endeavors, and Poseidon guide your helm! ~Oleander Aristocrat
  7. I don't know... is it? :was Raven headed to the Octan Archives? Does it look like Raven's disguise with a substituted torso and hair due to the fact that I lack the appropriate parts? ~Insectoid Aristocrat

  9. The stats are never revealed. It's up to your faction to figure them out on your own. If the island is rumored to have rich soil for growing sugar cane and also may have deadly scorpions, then your faction should consider these options. Perhaps someone builds a banana plantation on this island. The plantation's yield is normal. Then another player builds a sugar cane plantation and finds his/her/their yield of sugar is 30% greater than expected! Congrats! You found out that the stats of the island give you a plus 30% to yield of sugar! Over time your settlement doesn't seem to be growing as fast as it should. Other settlements develop npc properties faster 10% faster... maybe that's because of the scorpions? did you just discover another island stat? ~Insectoid Aristocrat
  10. New favorite Album. Favorite song is either I.C.U. or Nightwalkers, but Cut Lip and Neon Graffiti are also pretty slick. ~Insectoid Aristocrat
  11. I, Dr. Danielle Long, shall donate all of my funds at present in the hopes that we can find a way to make Bob feel better. ~Dr. Long
  12. Love those circles, and the table tennis scene is great! I wonder how that would work IRL! The ball will likely end up going EVERYWHERE! Cool build and inventive idea! ~Insectoid Aristocrat
  13. Nice classic Pole-Vault! I think your early posting of this must have inspired several interesting derivations of future pole-vaulting in later builds. Really nice simple build. Good work! ~Insectoid Aristocrat
  14. Thanks. Good to have a fan even for a simple tablescrap such as this. Ha! Does kind-of resemble a hippity hop! ~Insectoid Aristocrat
  15. This is so great! I love it! Very funny evolution of Tennis, and the commentary is perfect! Great work here, and it looks like Chief Accountant Long is not having a very fun time. It's a shame that MANTIS is always causing trouble for those poor innocent Octan employees. Wonder how Sal himself is doing. He's been sick for a while now... ~Insectoid Aristocrat
  16. Sorry for burying this thread in my posting-marathons for so long. Sweet spaceship, McCoyed! And, yeah, I'll second the helicopter vibe. To me it feels also like the landing craft in Aliens. And Blue seems fun! Can't wait to see how his "teamwork" works out! Also, For some reason, I love teh "Don't we all." line. For a simple turn-of-phrase, it works quite well. As always, nice story and characters, and I look forward to the next installment! ~Insectoid Aristocrat
  17. Welcome aboard, TK-7272! awesome powerful image there! Can't wait to see your stuff! ~Insectoid Aristocrat
  18. After much deliberation and debate within the King's court, several consultations with the Oracles, and clandestine conversations within the grandiose temples of the Order of the Faith, a representative representing the will of King Philip I declared that in the year of our Lords, 616 AE, the mighty Kingdom of Oleon would claim, now and forevermore, the majestic Islands at-present known as "The Old Man's Beard" (#3), clearly representing Zeus or Poseidon's beard, a favorable sign, "The Island of Clay" (#7), who's breezy banks remind our homesick sailors of mother Oleon, and on who's soils we shall sow our seeds, and finally, "The Crown" (#23), King Philip I's personal choice, it is suspected. Now Eslandola may pick their 2 Islands, followed by Corrington, and then the Sea Rats. ~Oleander Messanger
  19. This tree is drop-dead gorgeous. I am in absolute awe of the thought-process that went into conceiving it, and your flawless execution! Also, I'm super thankful for this lovely lovely tutorial. While I may not have nearly enough dark brown droid arms (or axes) to do this myself, it's certainly an inspiration! Trees are one thing that's difficult to pull-off in lego so well, and you've concocted a wonderful method to capture the texture of bark here, and the organic shaping too! Thanks for your hard work... and it's really pretty to look at too. ~Insectoid Aristocrat
  20. Frankly I found OST to be superior to the previous two films, and a tonal return to the fun of CotBP. The two revolving around Davy Jones just got needlessly convoluted and the two redeeming characters, Will and Elizabeth, totally changed their characterization. I have my hopes up for this new film thougj. From what I hear it sounds like it could be good fun! ~Insectoid Aristocrat
  21. On Farmolis's Famous Octan Olympic Arena, where all the best and brightest athletes have come to train! Including none other than Dr. Danielle Long, who was surprised to wake up to a holo-mail from CEO Pombe, requesting her presence at the games... on penalty of forfeiture of shares... Octan Olympics! by Danny-Longlegs, on Flickr Emily: "Alright! Wonderful job in the Mech wrestling contest, but you've still got one category left to enter! Track and Field." Dr. Long: "Oh joy. By the way, I don't believe we've been formally introduced. I'm Dr. Danielle Long." Emily: "Emily DuPont, Special Forces, at your service." Dr. Long: "A pleasure. And... thank you for... back on Onix." Emily: "Just doing my job, mam." Dr. Long: "I appreciate it. Speaking of... what are you doing here?... and where's Engineer?" Emily:"This is track and field! You don't need an engineer, you need a coach!" Dr. Long: "Aiya!" Emily: "Alright, so, I know you're no athlete, so let's do this like science and throw stuff at the wall to see what sticks!" Dr. Long: "That's not how science works." Emily: "I'm not a scientist." Octan Olympics! by Danny-Longlegs, on Flickr Emily: "Run!" Several hours later..... Octan Olympics! by Danny-Longlegs, on Flickr Emily: "your best was 20 minutes... for a mile... maybe Running's not your thing." Dr. Long: "I have never experienced such agonizing physical pain in my life." Emily: "No pain, no gain!" Dr. Long: "ouch..." Octan Olympics! by Danny-Longlegs, on Flickr Dr. Long: you want me to swim in that?..." Emily: "Yes." Dr. Long: "I am a scientist. I have a dual degree in Experimental Physics, and Xenobiology. I studied the water systems of Farmolis when we first arrived in Andromeda. This research comprises the first two chapters of one of my books. I know what is in this water." Emily: "And?" Octan Olympics! by Danny-Longlegs, on Flickr "I'm NOT swimming in it." Octan Olympics! by Danny-Longlegs, on Flickr Emily: "Alright, scientist! Let's see how you are with Animals! Ever rode a horse before?" Dr. Long: "So... this is a horse. It's a lot bigger in person than I thought it would be from the holographic replications I've seen." Emily: "I'll take that as a no." Dr. Long: "How does it work?..." Octan Olympics! by Danny-Longlegs, on Flickr Dr. Long: "OoOoh no!" Emily: "Maybe we should try something else... You've improved your running time, at least!" Octan Olympics! by Danny-Longlegs, on Flickr Emily: "You know what?... maybe Fencing is not a great idea either." Octan Olympics! by Danny-Longlegs, on Flickr Emily: "oh! I know! Have you ever fired a gun?!" Dr. Long: "yes." Emily: "You any good?" Octan Olympics! by Danny-Longlegs, on Flickr Emily: "Damn, Danielle..." Octan Olympics! by Danny-Longlegs, on Flickr Emily: "You should have told me you were an ace shot. How did you keep your hands so steady?" Dr. Long: "Years of pipetting, I suppose." Emily: "Do you shoot often?" Dr. Long: "No. I took a class a few years ago in preparation for the frontier." Octan Olympics! by Danny-Longlegs, on Flickr Emily: "So you're just a natural good shot?" Dr. Long: "No. I practiced every night for hours, forgoing sleep, in order to prepare for my final exams. I graduated top of my shooting class, not because of talent, but because I worked my ass off to perform better than everyone else. And I did." Emily: "Coldblooded. I like you." Dr. Long: "Likewise." 24. :cry_sad: They can always beat each-other senseless in our dreams. She's the lil' bot that could! And now it's down to the two bots considered to have "unfair advantages" It's as if this was planned to be the course from the beginning! Hawk vs. Long, Black Ivan vs. Lil' Longlegs, MANTIS vs. Octancorp, Night vs. Day, Chaos vs. Law, Grey vs. Gray, Robot vs. other Robot. The list of things vs. other things continues! I am very excited to have gotten this far. ~Insectoid Aristocrat
  25. I guess he'll buy it? Myself, I suspect it will be a ship from the new movie. Either the Black Pearl or the bad guy's ship. And between the two of them, my money's on (maybe literally) the Black Pearl. It's the iconic ship of this series, like the Millennium Falcon of PotC. And, as we all know... Lego loves re-making better and better Millennium Falcons. Also, at first, I was pleased to hear about this because I was under the impression it would be the flagship of a new wave... but the comparison to the Ghostbusters stuff is worrisome... And may indeed be a good comparison. I certainly hope there's more than one set. Didn't mean to offend, but I did expect news every time I opened the thread, only to find endless debate as to the source of faulty rumours. But I too am super syked to hear that the PotC line is continuing, so now will no longer have to simply skip this thread over! ~Insectoid Aristocrat
