There doesn't have to be a castle theme every year... There isn't a Space theme every year (Star wars does not count). Or a pirate theme either. And I wouldn't worry about Nexo Knights precluding a Castle theme. Nexo Knights might actually inspire Lego to make that Roman theme all the AFOLs have always clamored for. ~Insectoid Aristocrat

LEGO Collectable Minifigures Series 14 Rumors and Discussion

Ha! Great job! I'm still looking for the zombie cheerleader, myself... but I have 10 flies, so I'm satisfied for now... ~Insectoid Aristocrat -
So were the Cowboys in the "Cowboys and Indians" themes, but no one ever portrays them that way. Likewise with the Imperials in "Pirates" (not that the pirates were better. It's like Lawful Evil versus Chaotic Evil. But in reference to the islanders...), and Space Police in Space Police 3. I highly doubt Lego would break the mould by having the Romans portrayed as an invading force. The best I could hope for is "Romans versus Tribals" and have a fairly neutral portrayal of both, as per the current Pirates line, where both the Pirates and the Imperials are presented in media as neither particularly bad, nor truly heroic. Let the kids (or adults) decide. ~Insectoid Aristocrat

Oh, I agree! I'm not complaining, really, all though it may sound like I am. It's just that I'm not interested in the theme. I wasn't saying that I don't think these media themes should exist, just that I personally don't find them appealing. Others do. A lot of others. They make a lot of Money for Lego, and I support that! More money means more Lego, and more chance for them to make sets for the AFOLs! Divide and conquer does work. I agree. Doesn't mean I like this particular theme though! ~Insectoid Aristocrat

Interesting to hear that we liked the same themes for mostly different reasons! I thought the amount of story in those themes was perfect! Not too much, not too little! I would disagree that this is a space theme though. Unless they mention it's on a foreign planet (as per Aquazone) or some other planetary events occur this is not space. It is sci-fi, however. ~Insectoid Aristocrat

Dr. Long invented a localized atmosphere maintainer, and they're trying it out. He just forgot the science tag. Good old Dr. Long. Always sciencing! Always in everyone's business. ~Insectoid Aristocrat

To those wondering if the Chinese built castles: yes. Yes they did. A lot of them. Sure many have fancy roofs, but they're still castles. Also a lot of walls and gateways, which would translate very well into Lego sets! Mmmm! I can see it now! Yes totally! That's what I meant... but Lego would have to dance around actually referring to the bad guys as Mongols or Celts, since both of these groups are still around in one way or another, and it'd be quite offensive to typify their ethnic group as "the bad guys" which is why we get so much fantasy stuff nowadays. No one to offend, since orcs and goblins aren't real. So I think it'd just be easier for Lego to call the villains "Bandits" or "Raiders" and just sort of style them after the group in question. and they could be rather ambiguous too as to the details of who's the bad guy and who's the good guy, as they do with Pirates. or maybe just make the "bad guy" faction only sort of bad, like they did with Kingdoms (red lions v. Green dragons) ~Insectoid Aristocrat

It is a "castle" theme, but not a historic castle theme. Clearly this is what Lego is aiming for, and while I don't really like the theme, I objectively concede it's castle. I don't hate the theme. I'm not interested in it, but it doesn't offend me. I can think of ways I could change it to make it better (and a lot of those involve too-dark-for-Lego concepts), but most of the models are unattractive to me without serious modding... and I won't be doing that. I feel like you should have a section here called "yes, for parts" because, yes, for parts and figures, I will certainly shell out maybe 50$. Maybe more if I can/want to. This theme is flush with new interesting parts and clever character designs... but mostly for sci-fi stuff! I buy Friends stuff all the time for the parts too, even though the theme mostly is not interesting to me. I'll be honest: I don't like the media themes. The only one I like is Elves, and I'm not sure that counts. Ninjago, Chima, Nexo Knights, not one of the TV shows is interesting to me, and the themes all appeal to... wel... let's just say a different target audience than myself (children). In fact, even when I was the target audience I hated stuff like that. Transformers, power rangers, whatever was the "cool tvshow for boys" at the time. It didn't interest me at all. Still doesn't. And neither do the themes based on them. they have good pieces, and some cool minifigures, but overall they are just uninteresting. I very much prefer the themes that don't shove a story down your throat, like the current Pirates line for instance. Or (to go way back) Aquazone. Some story is good. Bionicles (Gen 1 through first year of Metru) was the best theme ever, really, as was Johnny Thunder, and Rock Raiders, all three of which had story... but what Lego is doing nowadays is very different, and I don't like it. But. I like that kids like it. Meaning I like that it's making Lego successful, and really that's all that matters to me, so I'll shut my grumpy mouth and buy their products, because at this stage in my life, it's not really about the themes... it's about what I can build. ~Insectoid Aristocrat

Disney Collectible Minifigures Series 1 Discussion
Dannylonglegs replied to just2good's topic in LEGO Licensed
I had a couple of those pieces. I agree they wouldn't really work here. It needs to be a new piece, I think, with usual leg grips as per Medusa tail and genie wisp. I think if it has 4 studs on top, the non-leg connecting ones should be lower. Otherwise a sloping "rear" area would be nice. I really do think we could see a 1-4 piece though. Just look up the wiki article of "pannier" to see what I mean. ~Insectoid Aristocrat- 4,155 replies

And perhaps the corresponding hair? Sounds promising!... but I don't know how much stock I put into it. These're pretty generic predictions. The only one that's not for certain is the short legs, really, if you are very lenient in your definition of "Space Suit" ~Insectoid Aristocrat -
My wishlist is a Chinese Castle theme. Or Persian. There's too much Western Castle stuff out there, and not enough Eastern. But, I know this is unlikely. Sigh. Chinese castle theme would be so cool. With like bandits or Barbarians as the villain faction... Or a Roman theme. This'd kinda count as castle, since they made castle-esque forts. ~Insectoid Aristocrat

Both of these figures are stupendous! Looking at the mohawk dude up close, I'm beginning to like his face a lot more! From afar he looked like a red version of the stupid most common Ninjago Ghost, but now that I look at it closer, his face is actually totally great!... and that red naked torso. Mmmm. Very nice. And the armoured guy is just super great. The head looks like a red Orc head from this picture. ~Insectoid Aristocrat

Do we know how much the King's Mech will be? Agreed that Library will have no where near as many figures. Also, Macy only being in one actual set makes sense, considering Lego's "Females only in the expensive sets because boys only play with guy figures" policy. She does have an ultimate which makes me very pleased. Anyone know what her ultimate comes with? I want to know because I'm buying it. They're 9.99 right? or are they 12-15 each? The later sounds pretty steep, considering it's just a fig and accessories. I thought that Merlock was not appearing as a minifigure. Also, I'm like 89.763081% sure that the little lava balls are the tv show's interpretation of the disks fired by the bad guy vehicle in the Fortrex set. Like the ghost disks from Ninjago's recent wave. Shoot, I'm loosing track of Ninjago's waves. Seems like just yesterday they were multicoloured snake people. (I mean the first time they were snake people) my guess for Library is: Robin, Princess, Lava monster (and/or Lava golem) My guess for King's Mech is: King, Queen, Knight(?), Big Lava golem (the devilish one from the TV show, to combat the mech), maybe another bad guy depending on price. Harley gets around. ~Insectoid Aristocrat
