  1. The comics combine themes into one storyline, and while Lego could hardly be said to have a Canon, the Comics are non-canon. (I am assuming that pic is from the comics because I can't see it.) The last arc had the Aliens from Alien conquest use their head-huggers to control the statue of Poseidon from Atlantis and make an alliance with the evil Pharaoh from Pharaoh Quest to build a statue mech thing. We don't know the exact storyline of this theme, but it seems really straight forward. Unlike with a story-dependent theme like Chima, this one stands on its own with a relatively simple story that could probably take place anywhere--earth or the moon of a planet in another galaxy. ~Insectoid Aristocrat
  2. Well, this is interesting. I didn't exactly expect that to work, but I didn't see any other solution. At least I know he's not an ancient now. ~Insectoid Aristocrat
  3. "Oh, no particular reason." stated Sylph 'glumly' "If you want to kill us, why haven't you yet. Is there anything we can do to convince you not to kill us? And, why is your carapace glass?" Asked Sylph. He returned the arrow he had been holing to its sheath, seemingly too discouraged by the notion of the Wound's cannons to even bother holding the projectile. As he slid the arrow down, he removed the Sleep Scroll from his bag and began reading under his breath, making it look like he was praying, nudging Elgar to do the same.
  4. Is that legal? I'm confused. I thought the rope bridge was really long, and wouldn't we still be dangling beneath the Progg? ~Insectoid Aristocrat
  5. "It would seem I spoke too soon, Johon. The Wound, how old are you?" Sylph asked. (OoC: we passed out Johon's scrolls temporarily for the quest: Elgar should have a scroll of sleep, blind, seal, and confuse, and Alex should have a scroll of sealing.) Noticing Johon's actions, Sylph, legitimately questioning Johon's sanity, grabbed onto the rope.
  6. "While I agree that it's likely a trap," started Sylph, "It would appear that we have no other option than to walk into it. Besides, I doubt they'd knock down the bridge. They need it too."
  7. Sylph drank a Grand Tonic as he gestured the party to the Rhits Bridge.
  8. I would, but I would have to start it on the 15th or later. before then, I wouldn't have the resources. I'm at college, and Legos here are sparse. (I brought with me one minifigure.) Aside from that, I've really fleshed out the Quest I stated that I wanted to host earlier, and I'd be able to get a write-up for you later today or tommorow. It's not really part of an "epic trilogy," but it does focus on the Nation that I'd feature in some of my later quests (if this one goes well.) I have most of the information on a notebook back in my dorm. ~Insectoid Aristocrat
  9. I agree, but I'd say there's one exception to that statement. The dragonfly in the largest set seems pretty fleshed out and not afterthoughty. It's actually one of my favorite ships for the Insectoids, and I think a good bit of thought went into it (at least more than that for the other secondary vehicles.) Also, while its simple design lends credibility to the idea that the buggy in the Mantis set is an afterthought, I wouldn't call it lame. It has a nice look, and while small and simple, looks like it could hold out against the mantis. It has speed and maneuverability without being completely defenseless. I think though, that's just because of the ease of making cars for humans compared to bug-like ships for alien bug people. ~Insectoid Aristocrat
  10. Oh, I forgot to mention, I'm surprised no one's mentioned the new technic piece featured in the "feet" of the mosquito and the legs of the Mantis. I think it's a cool new piece. ~Insectoid Aristocrat
  11. Wow! Those are great! I'm glad we finally have some good pictures of the final products! I can't believe it, but I actually like the Mantis now! I will likely buy it! Why did they put it's arm in such an awkward pose on the box? I think I'll do an updated review of the sets now that I can see them more clearly. Space Swarmer: I like this one (not quite love, but it'll do); Aside from the 3 mandibles, which I don't like, It has no serious flaws. I really like that it's space-tight. It's the only Insectoids ship that is! I like that the army builder of the theme needs no fixes. You can make a swarm of these guys. The figs are good too. I've already stated that I like the new Insectoids, and the scorpion's my favorite of the two. I don't love the Androids, but the blue one's my favorite. I like that the robot and not the guy is in this--while repeats of the robot are fine, I don't want 3 of the same guy (his face is not at all generic. ) I wish there was a smaller Insectoids set--like an impulse--but this is fine for what it is. ~I will get one (at-least.) Swarm Interceptor: I like this one too. Of the five Human ships, I'd say it's my second favorite. It really does go well with the Space Swarmer. I have yet to see its "Tower" mode, but I imagine I won't use it. It looks like a really good fighter. I also really like the afterthought Mosquito miniship. (I'm a sucker for miniships. ) The minifigs are good too. The Mosquito's not my favorite Insectoid, but there are only two (well three.) ~I will get one. Warp Stinger: It's not the worst set ever. I think I nitpicked it enough when we first saw it. I really had nothing good to say about it, but now I don't hate it. With the better picture, it's easier to see the segmentation that the designers were going for. I still don't like the Antenna on the face. It fits awkwardly. If it was removed, I think it would look better. The legs are the worst part though. Still. I would have liked bigger wings, but I now see they are not the same pieces as the Swarmer's. The human ship that accompanies the Mosquito is the worst of the humans', I think. It doesn't really fit with the thematic scheme of the other Human ships. That said, it's not the focus of the theme, and it's not really bad, it just doesn't seem to fit. As for the figures, I like them. The red android's head is interesting. The red human is pretty boss looking. I really like the new energy swords. I also really like the Insectoids' gun! That is a nice, insectile gun! I love the use of the scorpion. ~I highly doubt I will get this one. It is my least favorite set not considering price. The only reason I'd get it is to try my hand at fixing it. seeing as how it's supposed to be the 'flagship' of sorts for the insectoids, it's a bit disappointing. Star Slicer: I don't know how the different picture did it, but it really improves this set. Maybe it removes the perspective on the abdomen. Maybe it shows the legs off in a better light. Maybe the cacoon adds needed bulk to the back. Maybe it removed the minifigure from the cockpit ( ). Either way, I really like it now. (Maybe even love?) The human ship is probably my 3rd favorite. It's a pretty solid buggy. I'm super happy with the figures. The red scorpion is my favorite from the entire theme. I'm a bit disappointed that it's the blue team again. If I purchase the sets I want, I'll end up with multiples of them and no one else. I'm also sad there aren't any magic swords. Ah well. ~I will definitely try to get this one. It's the most expensive one I'll buy though. Vermin Vaporizer: I guess I'd like this set more if I liked the style of the Tank. Allot of the sets nowadays are front heavy, and, while that can be cool, it doesn't seem to be a choice, but rather the only thing they can do. This is very front heavy, to the point that it looks really vulnerable to attacks from behind. It'd work well with a mining vehicle, and really doesn't work poorly as is. I just don't love it. I also don't really like the Mech. It doesn't fit smoothly inside the tank, and it looks mediocre out. I'd have preferred a heavy-set space ship to a space-tank. The Insectoid craft in this is really crappy. I maintain that it'd benefit from grabbers, mandibles, claws, wings, or extra legs. I've seen chairs with lazer stingers before, but A.this one is bad, and B. I've always thought they lacked style. The shame is, the minifigures in this are great, and I really like the green team's colour scheme, especially contrasted to the lime and army green of the Insectoids. The Human in this set is probably the coolest, apart from the girl in the bigger set. I think the Android in this set looks like a Bionicle. ~I will definitely not buy this set. It's too expensive and does not appeal to me. It's my least favorite by price. Bug Obliterator: Beautiful. I've already spoken about this one though. I like it, but it's out of my spending range--even with discounts. ~I'm not buying this one, but it's only because it's too expensive. See, I can be positive. ~Insectoid Aristocrat
  12. "well," Sylph stammered awkwardly, "They are with their father now... In the forest. We freed him from the spell cast on him by the leader of the Gladus Unit, and Morxes and Lyrol decided to stay with him."
  13. "Well, you know what that means men.... We're putting on the Rihts! (By means of the Docks)"
  14. (I do know that it's a Greece Reference, I was trying to be funny ) Sounds like a blast. I'd love to write a paper to the opposite; it really peeved me. I guess everyone's entitled to his/her own opinions. ~Insectoids Aristocrat
  15. A: Crash Site B: Town Hall (consumables) C: Toxic Burrow (Toxiproggs: info and venom) D: Commoner's Quarter E: Marketplace F: The Dock G: The Riht's Bridge H: Riht's Manor I: Mushroom Gardens J: Mystrinitri Woods K: Dini Manor L: Aristocrat's Quarter M: Commerz Bank (Ayla) N: Murkwood O: The Smith X: The Clearing "Yeah, I don't see it either. Toxiproggs, could you show us where that is?"
  16. "More magic than Prometheus? We met him in the woods, and he seems to worship Helvetia. Do you know anything about that?"
  17. Another sci-fi reference? That movie was horrible. ~Insectoid Aristocrat
  18. "Toxiproggs, which Prince is stronger? The avian one or the aquatic one?" Questioned Sylph. (OoC: Should my Helmet still be listed in my equipment if I'm not wearing it?)
  19. Lol. ~Insectoid Aristocrat
  20. Wow, those HD pics are spectacular. I really do like that set--it's certainly my favorite of the theme. It's a shame that my favorite set is 70 bucks! I only have a 100-ish budget for myself this year, and I want the Monster-Fighters' Castle set more. There are certainly more figures in the Monster-Fighters set. Either way, HD pics really improved my perception of this set. It's always nice to see the sets in a bright, uncluttered background. While there are still several disappointing aspects of this theme, my initial response was much stronger and more negative than my current attitude towards the theme. I'll certainly buy enough of the sets to get at-least both of the Insectoids. I'm not too pleased with the androids, but again, that's because I would have liked them to have typical Lego minifigure heads. I do like the chest armour, and, unlike some, I like that the Humans' chest decals are gray and, as far as I can tell, Identical. It serves to make their faction a bit more cohesive--while they are separate teams, they all belong to the same group. I'm disappointed by the lack of diversity that seemed to have been promised by the Insectoid faction. I suppose it's not unreasonable to only make two different head molds for them, especially considering the new head molds for the androids/mechs, but as they are inspired by a very diverse Phylum, I would have liked to see a little more archetypes (not just mosquito and scorpion(?). A beetle/dragonfly/moth/praying-mantis would have been nice.) Either that or just one head mold and several distinguishing features to differentiate characters. Either way, two is not enough. The magic number really is three. Any way. The HD pictures have definitely warmed me up to at-least this set. I can't wait to see more. Perhaps then my attitude will further improve? I hope so, because I really want to love this theme. Currently, I like Alien-Conquest much more. I thought that was a rather solid line, and while not perfect, and quite goofy and trope-rific, theme; it still managed to deliver what it set out to accomplish. ~Insectoid Aristocrat (It's funny because I'm acting snobby towards a new Insectoid theme )
  21. "Indeed. Tell us more of Aquos the Blind, and maybe, if you would, refresh our memories as to the subject of the flying Progg. Also, the true names of the Glados Unit might have some use." Turning to Alex, he added, "for a poison, 'I'd suggest the crumbling, if you can afford it. The Deadly's not bad, but when fighting foes with high SP, you seem to be the only one who can touch them with that blade of yours. Crumbling helps level the playingfield... and then tip it in our favour.
  22. "Interesting. That makes sense. I, a humble druid, would not be able to afford such a procedure, and nor would I strongly desire that, but my party would be welcome to it. I'll hold onto the coupon for now and distribute it once we've dealt with more Proggs. I think we should pay the Toxiproggs a visit to catch up on the latest intel, and perhaps acquire some more poison."
  23. (OoC: Combrys is WP 9 at the moment. Lycan's last hit was a success.) "I agree with Johon. Let's not use it just yet. I also think it should go to either Lycan or Alex. Both possess powerful artifacts that could pose even more of a threat their enemies with a good touch-up. For now though, let's see what the future has in store in terms of using the free-coupon."
  24. Well, in that case, Vote: fhomess for not unvoting Apple. ~Insectoid Aristocrat
  25. Boss job baddies! Bien-fait! Brilliant! Can I stop being Alliterate now? Yes? Great! thanks for the bloodbath Shadows! ~Insectoid Aristocrat
