Heroica RPG - Quest #48: Death's Homecoming
Dannylonglegs replied to Endgame's topic in The Heroica Archive

Order (if everyone agrees): Sylph: Confuse Gauntlet R, BR Sylph: Tonic, BR Elgar: Confuse Wing L, BR Galen: Wing L, BR Alex: Gauntlet R, BR Johon: Tail, BR Johon: Eidolon, BR Punii: Make Jellies Galen: Wing R, BR Rome: Wing R, BR Hall: Gauntlet L, BR -
The Hinckwell popped his head in the door later, and, sure enough, a new name was on the list. Current Sign ups for Quest 62: Amorith (played by legobodgers) Jeaux (played by joeshmoe554) Em (played by emjajoas) Stigveladi Kötturin (business expert) Amma (played by Psykater) Nessa (played by herrJJ) Karie (played by Kintobor) Heckz (played by Eric Su) Dreyrugr (played by Vash the Stampede) Drake (played by xxlRocka) Zoltan (played by LTPro)

The skittish Hinckwell returned to the Hall to see if any new Heroes had signed up for the Quest. After bumping into a table on his way to the page, he fumbled for his ink-pen and etched the names of the two new applicants onto his notebook. "Are you referring to attacking from the front row? Frankly, now that you're at full health, I'm seriously considering it. That, coupled with a well placed and successfully executed Weaken, and we'll be dealing twice the damage we'd have been doing. If either of those are not what you're referring to, then I'm afraid I'm a tad too addle-brained at the moment to catch your drift. This was a bad turn of events. Worse then the 'Shocked.'" Order (if everyone agrees): Sylph: Fragile Gauntlet R, BR Sylph: Confuse Wing L, BR Elgar: Confuse Wing R, BR Galen: Revive Alex Alex: Gauntlet R, FR Johon: Tail, BR Johon: Eidolon, BR Punii: Make Jellies Galen: Wing L, BR Rome: Wing R, BR Hall: Gauntlet L, FR -

Ok, That would have been nice to know last round. Gauntlet R and L should be confused for 1 round longer, since I confused them. "Elgar, I'm sorry, you're going to fall unconscious at the end of this round, but don't fight it. It'll cure your shock and you'll come back with full health and none the worse. We could do the same for you, Hal. I don't want any more consumable's effects to be expended though, so I'm afraid Alex, you and Galen have to stick around. Let's see what I can do." *Cracks knuckles* Order (if everyone agrees): Sylph: Heal Alex, BR Sylph: Heal Alex, BR (or Heal Galen, BR, if Alex was Healed, or, Tonic, BR if Roots of Life is rolled) Elgar: Grand Potion Sylph, BR (or, confuse Wing R if Sylph rolled Roots of Life) Alex: Heal Galen, BR (or, Heal Rome if Galen was unhealed, or Heal Self, if Unhealed, or, Wing L if Sylph rolled Roots of Life) Alex: Eidolon, BR Johon: Potion, BR (or, Wing R if Sylph rolled Roots of Life) Johon: Tail, BR Punii: Make Jellies Galen: Wing R, BR (or Grand Potion, if unhealed) Galen: Wing L, BR Rome: Gauntlet L, BR Hall: Gauntlet R, BR -

OoC: The Shocked effect doesn't say that it ignores SP: did Alex take damage or did I misunderstand? -

"Alright, this isn't good." Stated Sylph. "Alex, even though you're shocked, your SP will prevent you from taking further damage." Order (if everyone agrees): Sylph: Heal Johon, BR Sylph: Heal Galen, BR (or tonic, BR if Roots of Life is rolled) Elgar: Confuse Tail, BR Alex: Heal Rome, BR (or, Wing L, if Sylph rolled Roots of Life) Alex: Eidolon, BR Johon: Wing L, BR (or, Remedy, if unhealed) Johon: Tail, BR Punii: Make Jellies Galen: Tail, BR (or Grand Potion, if unhealed) Galen: Wing R, BR Rome: Gauntlet L, BR Hall: Gauntlet R, BR -
Hmm. I'm not sure it's so much a flaw as simply bad rolling. If Galen, Alex, or Johon dies, then my placement of an unlucky ally on that gauntlet and the subsequent damage we took will be for naught, but for the time being, I stand by my placement. ~Insectoid Aristocrat

I am aware. This Battle is really going to be just an effort to minimize our own damage as much as possible. ~Insectoid Aristocrat

Whoops, I screwed up, I meant Galen. And also, that confuse is wrong too. I was distracted.) It's not Strategy bending, necessarily. I was saving the "confuse and conquer" strategy for this combat, because I figure that the better strategies have been eaten-up by my use of them. Aside from that, I will admit that you have brought it down to depending more heavily on luck then I'd like. Frankly though, I realize there's nothing more I can do than just keep on bashing him and his body parts with the heavy-hitters, which forces me take the smarter and somewhat easier path. I also find it funny that you threw in the "I'm not playing games" effect when I have no incentive to heal him instead of target him with Alex. Sure the special's a pain, but what made me do that with Aquas was the counter-striking and killing the tentacles made him much easier to deal with. With Elanoin, It's smarter just to start killing him. I'm not gunna lie, this is probably one of the funnest yet simplest fights in the whole game--so far. Aside from switching Johon around for max Decay, I haven't had to seriously flip the order around too much. Oh, by the way, I think you forgot Rome's Soma again. ~Insectoid Aristocrat

"My body... My Bat..." Mumbled Sylph as he strung a crumbling Arrow onto his bow, the hex controlling his actions. The bat emerged from his cape as Sylph's body mindlessly went about targeting one of his allies. The bat flew around frantically, but the smarter members of the party saw the method in the madness. Alex: Remedy Sylph, BR Sylph: Heal Elgar, BR Sylph: Heal Elgar, BR (or Heal Hall, BR) Elgar: Confuse Gauntlet R, BR (or Confuse Gauntlet L, BR, or Confuse Wing L, BR) Alex: Eidolon, BR Johon: Wing L, BR Galen: Wing R, BR Johon: Tail, BR Punii: Make Jellies Galen: Gauntlet R, BR Rome: Gauntlet L, BR Hall: Potion, BR -

"Working on it. They remove consumables on their special though, which means I'm not going to stick anyone Lucky of Hastened on them if it can be avoided, So for that reason, I won't be favouring them. In the meantime though, build up your stock. I'm sure there'll be plenty of heavy damage needed when they're gone." -

"Galen, you're almost as bad at keeping healed as I am." Grunted Sylph, though it wasn't the first time he noticed. "In other news," he commented, noticing the tail flinch, "One down 4 to go." The Hinckwell who had stepped in earlier peered into the room after noting the return and exit of the old man. Unable to see the sign-up sheet clearly from the door, he steps in and quickly makes his way to the sign-up sheet, noting the addition. Current Sign ups for Quest 62: Amorith (played by legobodgers) Jeaux (played by joeshmoe554) Em (played by emjajoas) Stigveladi Kötturin (business expert) Amma (played by Psykater) Nessa (played by herrJJ) Karie (played by Kintobor) Heckz (played by Eric Su) "OK. Looking good." he mumbled to himself as he carefully made his way out. The poor man clearly had an anxiety issue.

I agree, but if I go Minstrel, I'll try to play it more 1590s and less 1990s. I wrote a Bar song for my upcoming Quest too. It's a shame I don't know how to convey tune over the interwebs. In that respect, Rap is easier. ~Insectoid Aristocrat
