  1. Congrats! ~Insectoid Aristocrat
  2. I'm planning to do one, and so is Kintobor, but as far as I know, neither of our Quests are official yet. Mine could be a mid-low level quest though, depending on who the other QMs choose. ~Insectoid Aristocrat
  3. Thanks for the criticism. I don't have any other stats all written out, and I did intend to modify these guys to accommodate the party, but I just made this to see if I could make a fair fight. After looking over the stats, I think you're right. I may need to look over a few of the low level quests before I actually host this. In terms of usable loot, these guys are pretty much the bosses, but I think I was thinking to literally when I devised their drops. I've nerfed their attacks and drops. Cloak still maintain his specials, albeit a bit changed to focus on effects rather than damage, but now instead of re-rolling, if he doesn't have the ether for a task he does nothing. Also, I lowered his HP a tad because he's less likely to be targeted. (also, the Chain damage should only effect 2 people out of 3 at most. I can't imagine everybody'll attack from the front row, but I could be mistaken. I'll adjust it further if I get a party of all fighters and barbarians. ) Healer is unchanged. I think that with a little strategic thinking, the Heroes can take these guys on with slight difficulty. Cloak Type: Flying, Beast Level: 5 Hp: 27 Ether: 8 Specials: (Decided by dice roll: If he doesn't have enough ether for rolled action, nothing happens) Dark Magic: Uses 2 ether. Target is dealt 2 dark damage (regardless of row) and is confused for one round or until remedied. Chain of Darkness: Uses 3 ether. Heroes in target’s row are dealt 3 dark damage (regardless of row) Shock: Uses 1 ether. Target is stunned. Drops: 10 gp, Amethyst, Crow-Cursed Cloak (SP: 2 suitable for Mages or Rogues) Dagger Type: Flying, Beast Level: 5 Hp: 30 Specials: (Decided by dice roll) Snatch-Purse: Target loses 5 gold. Cheap-Shot: Target takes 4 damage (regardless of SP) and is poisoned. Drops: 15 gold, Crow-Claw Dagger (WP:5) (Suitable for Mages or Rogues) Shifty Healer Type: Humanoid Level: 4 HP: 35 Specials: (Decided by dice roll) Stand-back: Attacks against him for the next round deal only Half-Damage Heal Light Wounds: The most damaged enemy regains 5 hp Drops: Quest Item, Potion ~Insectoid Aristocrat
  4. "Sure, First off, and, please, don't take this the wrong way--just some insightful criticism--but given the choice between killing your enemies and letting them kill a tenth of your army including its generals and Elites, it takes a true fool to choose the latter. Even we "Over-confident fools" wouldn't have made such a basic error. We did not go directly for you because we had to acquire the knowledge and power to defeat you. We needed to cut off all the other heads before we got to you. We did. Sure you stand emperor, but you reign over a legion of Pawns no stronger than professional soldiers. We've given Uland the fighting chance it needs should we fail to kill you. You call it over-confident. I call it strategy. It doesn't matter if we die at your hands or not. You've lost. Second, we don't harm those Proggs who want to live peacefully. Only those who want to kill and conquer and those loyal to them. We give our enemies a choice. Here's yours: crawl back to the hole from which you came with your tail between your legs and your army in-tow and you'll be able to save their lives and your own. If you give a damn about the Proggs, then you have to stop this war--it'll be a genocide, and not the kind you want. Johon: Consider using Dragon Scale and Smelling Salts"
  5. Just to guage the public's opinion of my monster stats, here's the stats of all the enemies in one slightly difficult fight designed for a party of 3 2-6 leveled Heroes. (Pics and real names removed because spoilers) (the quantity of specials is intentionally large as I feel it works well with the characters, but if it's too much, I have no problem consolidating the specials. This is really the only battle with this many specials though--they're sort of mini-bosses.) Cloak and Dagger: Cloak Type: Flying, Beast Level: 5 Hp: 30 Ether: 8 Specials: (Decided by dice roll) Lightning Blast: Uses 1 ether. Target is dealt 6 lightning damage. Chain Lightning: Uses 3 ether. Heroes in target’s row are dealt 3 lightning damage (regardless of row). Dark Magic: Uses 2 ether. Target is dealt 4 dark damage and is Confused. Drops: 20 gold, Amethyst, Crow-Cursed Cloak (SP: 2 suitable for Mages or Rogues) Dagger Type: Flying, Beast Level: 5 Hp: 30 Specials: (Decided by dice roll) Snatch-Purse: Target loses 5 gold. Cheap-Shot: Target takes 5 damage (regardless of SP) and is poisoned. Drops: 20 gold, Crow-Claw Dagger (WP:6), Venom Shifty Healer Type: Humanoid Level: 4 HP: 35 Specials: (Decided by dice roll) Stand-back: Attacks against him for the next round deal only Half-Damage Heal Light Wounds: the most damaged enemy regains 5 hp Drops: Quest Item, Potion ~Insectoid Aristocrat
  6. Sylph stood, a trunk in the howling wind, his cloak whirling behind him. Rain crashed against his torso and battered his helm. He stared into the eyes if Eidolon. Unspeaking. Resolute.
  7. Damn! That dirty-two timer! I thought we had something special!!! ~Insectoid Aristocrat
  8. I just sent Sandy my proposal! ~Insectoid Aristocrat
  9. "Indeed." Stated Sylph as the rain coursed down his dampened grey cloak. Punii moved out of the puddle near his leg. "Even though we've only fought one fight together, and you're not a member of our organization, Hal, I count you among the best of us Heroes. Your desire to protect what you love whatever the cost speaks deeply to me. I myself am moved by that same river to do what I do. We'll repel this invasion and chop off its final head right now, and I've never had a party member die on me. Speaking of which, Galen, as a rogue, you don't need your smoke-bomb. Give it to Hal. Now all of us are capable of surviving if the others don't... And If one of us makes it out, there is hope for Luosh, and Uland, and the World."
  10. "You know.." he sighs. "I grew up in this town" "You're gunna die in this town. Convenient." Snarked Sylph Solo. ~Insectoid Aristocrat
  11. "Not that I disapprove of your resolve, but more realistically, It'll be 'to victory or escape-with-our-lives.' I'll not let my party-members die here if it's at all avoidable."
  12. Yes... Not to mention that scaling monsters and treasure to lower levels is easier. ~Insectoid Aristocrat
  13. That's what I was thinking too. I wouldn't mind hosting after your quest though if there's only one quest's worth of Heroes in the Hall after Predator to Prey, as one of the villain's actions wouldn't make as much sense versus level one heroes. (not really a problem, but a potential justification for waiting). As I said before, the quest'd work for any level, and I'm glad there are so many newer members, as I think a lower-level quest'd be easier to run than a higher-level one. ~Insectoid Aristocrat

  15. No I haven't. I haven't had time to finish the Writeup, but I plan to do so this evening. This is sorta just my proof of concept, or maybe it's just me feeling obliged to update everyone that I'm actually taking steps toward starting the quest as opposed to simply talking about it, like last time. Also, I want to provide Sandy with an example of a monster. Any suggestions for the level at which to place it? ~Insectoid Aristocrat
  16. "Going back to Town now would give Elliodynamussonionolodononon a chance to regroup and place even stronger defenses against our entry.... or worse: begin the invasion. We have to deal with him now before he does the smart thing. (Although honestly, from what we've seen of him, if given the choice between the smart thing and the stupid-sadistic thing, I doubt he'd ever do the smart thing.) Thank you Dini. If you know of anywhere in this castle where we could acquire any additional supplies, that'd be fantastic, but barring that, I fear we must bid thee adieu, and go forward to the Belfry."
  17. 2 Razcal's Glider and Uruk-Hai.

  19. Just doing my civic duties, Sir. Also, I meant to post this here: "The Quest I plan on hosting will deal with Economic intrigue between the Hinkwells and the residents of the nationalistic coastal city, Brendenton (changed from Sailor's Haven 30 years ago when Lord Brenden began exerting his influence on the City after its previous Lord's death.) in the Kingdom of Sundestia in the Low Kingdoms (the one who's working title was Autumn Kingdom). The Hinkwells are attempting to conduct business with the government and church of Ennoc (which holds substantial influence n the town), but there's a spanner in the works, and the resident Hinkwell, Dill Hinkwell, aware of the help his family has received in Eubric, calls upon the Heroes of Heroica to help him." To clarify, this is not the Quest I was working on earlier, but rather one I've deemed more doable with my current collection of Lego. I'd be able to start as soon as next weekend if there are any Heroes in the Hall at the time. If not, I'll host it whenever there are more Heroes waiting. I am almost finished with the write-up and I've solidified the characters and the plot. I don't know what level to scale the enemies to, but that's dependent on the level of the the party members. It'll be short, with only probably 3-5 battles, but it could work with players of any level. I've solved my Camera problem as well, and now have access to a regular digital camera, which I'll be sure to have fun with soon. I have a large block of dialog prepared for Sandy, which contains the plot-hook too. I'd like him to OK the plot, as it does involve the Hinkwell Family and the Economics of the Heroica world. My working title is: Insider Trading. ~Insectoid Aristocrat
  20. Wow Scuba, that's a great article on Ether! I found it most entertaining! ~Insectoid Aristocrat
  21. I ended his Suffering.

  22. "I doubt it would. he's dead already, but he's still breathing. I'll end his suffering... Allow him..." Started Sylph as he pulled back the string of his bow and released an arrow into the scull of the beast. "The peace of a soldier."
  23. "Why don't we just end his life now." Spoke Sylph, looking at the suffering mass. "I'll do it, I just want to know if we're finished with him."
  24. As I suspected, I was too busy today to make a Writeup today, and likely won't get a chance until Tuesday, but basically, The Quest'll deal with Economic intrigue between the Hinkwells and the residents of the nationalistic coastal city, Brendenton (changed from Sailor's Haven 30 years ago when Lord Brenden began exerting his influence on the City after its previous Lord's death.) in the Kingdom of Sundestia in the Low Kingdoms (the one who's working title was Autumn Kingdom). The Hinkwells are attempting to conduct business with the government and church of Ennoc (which holds substantial influence n the town), but there's a spanner in the works, and the resident Hinkwell, Dill Hinkwell, aware of the help his family has received in Eubric, calls upon the Heroes of Heroica to help him. ~Insectoid Aristocrat
