That is because he is Thrain. http://heirsofdurin....4_000118375.jpg On his way back to Erebor Thrain was captured as a prisoner in Dol Guldur. He was last seen by Gandalf in Dol Guldur before the events of the hobbit (according the books). Thrain gave the key of the lonely mountain to gandalf which he then gave to Thorin.

Can you see the pictures now? I can see them again :) I think the orange spikes are fine, they should represent rusted metal. In the movie there is no special patern seen on the walls. Just a decaying fortress with walls that have metal spikes on them. for example: http://www.herr-der-...46-cb206770.jpg http://www.thelandof...TVSpecial19.jpg I agree that it may be a few too many spikes :) The official set is pretty shitty but it had some great ideas. I took some aspects of it to use in my moc. Like the trees with the red leaves, the hanging skeleton, statues, the windows, etc... Thank you, I tried to put in many details. But sometimes I did not have enough bricks to realise what i wanted. Thanks!

Thank you puzzles :) Thanks! Indeed the pictures don't work anymore... Flickr now says i haven't uploaded anything yet. I don't even? What?! They were working when i put up this thread... First Brickshelf and now Flickr making problems. I will have a look at it tonight and reupload, but first a working day :)

Oh hullo there little LEGO hobbits! Here is my version of Dol Guldur. I tried to replicate some scenes of the Hobbit movies and some extra stuff. Dol Guldur the ruined fortress where many dark things hide and regain strength. Front view of Dol Guldur. You can see two Gandalf's in this picture. The front entrance. Is Gandalf scared of something? Radagast warns Gandalf of dark sorcery in Mirkwood. So Gandalf and Radagast set out to Dol Guldur to search for this so called Necromancer Surprise attack by the Witch King with the Morgul blade. The Necromancer is watching and creeping. Feeding and breeding the wargs for the upcoming war. Sharpening the swords for the Battle of Five Armies. Backside view of Dol Guldur. Back of Azog. Bird's eye view. You can see Gandalf trying to escape from Azog and his Gundabad bodyguards. Gandalf doing his best to fight. Bridge side view. Close-up of ruined tower and Gandalf hanging in his cage :( Tower by moonlight. Gandalf is pissed. Oops Gandalf is breaking out of his cage while Azog is summoning the Gundabad orcs. Orcs getting ready. More orcs. Many torturings have taken place in the old fortress. Thorin's father Thrain was last seen by Gandalf in Dol Guldur... Spiders and skulls. Orc: don't put that flash in my face dirty human! A skeleton... but it is not Thrain. Prison of Thrain and what is left of him. What used to be a gate. The Necromancer (or Sauron) has turned Gandalf in a kittykat with his dark magic!

The angry farmer is hilarious! Or is it a maniac who wants to kill piggies for fun?

Thanks for the comments. Thanks. I bought the uruk hai army set 12 times and helms deep 3 times. So no bricklinking was involved. I will add some more colour in my next creation. So look forward to that. :) But pink and baby blue is more for a Disney princess sort of castle.

kreimkoek replied to Deathleech's topic in LEGO Historic Themes

Thanks for the tips. I like my minifigures in their original condition. Since i bought 12 times uruk hai army and 3 times helms deep I ended up with alot of Eomers and Theoden. I use Eomer as a elite rohirrim soldier and Theoden I use as a general (they need more hits to die then a normal soldier). I play with the minifgures like a videogame :p But to spice it up it would be good to have some variation in the minfigures, I will consider this in the future. The hairy uruk vanguard is good as I see it.

Hello, I present to you my latest creation. A castle at the borders of Rohan. Saruman's Isengard army reaches Rohan and so the battle begins. But first the castle itself Front door (also the only door) Door opens The top comes off so you can play inside :) Interior Saruman's hand reaches far. Thanks for looking! Comments are welcome.

[MOC] Rohirrim palace with eagle's nest
kreimkoek replied to kreimkoek's topic in LEGO Historic Themes
Thanks for the positive reactions. I didn't notice that the eagle's wings were in the wrong direction. Looks kinda wrong now. :p But it was a 'special' sort of eagle. Oke so the rohirrim didn't write but they can read if im not mistaken. Not everything is described in detail how the rohirrim lived, it is my interpretation of it. But I like how you guys know so much about this universe! I still have much to learn :D -
Hello brickers. I made a palace for the rohirrim with a nest for the eagle's on top of it Comments are welcome! Main hall The Armory Little bookshelf So it begins! Looks like meat's back on the menu boys!

Thanks for the comments guys! I didnt think about a door when i was building it, kinda stupid now. But I think that not all medieval structures had doors in them ;)

Oh yes you are right, it should be flat now that I think about it. I will modify this in the future along with the other comments. Thanks.

Battle of the Pelennor fields
kreimkoek replied to Duke of wellington's topic in LEGO Historic Themes
Well done so far. Love that you use the uruk hai as orks/wildlings. -
Hello, I made a rohirrim guard tower. During the war of the ring Saruman's army attacked Rohan with his uruk hai (and others). This is an event before the battle of helms deep. The rohirrim attempt to defend themselves in this guard tower. Who will prevail? the rohirrim stronghold or the attacking uruk hai? Now for the battle! I think the uruk hai will win this battle, the brave rohhirim on the guard tower will last the longest. I hope you enjoy it.

Thanks for the positive reactions guys! Do you refer to the bulge where theoden king stands on? Yea I would rather have alot of uruk hai but I wanted it to look impressive so I used some orks/goblins and ringwraiths to make the army bigger :p I plan to make the mountain less flat but I dont have any slope bricks left :(
