  1. As a quick follow-up to his previous battle pack review, Eurobricks Fellow mutley777 shares with us his take and views on the LEGO Star Wars 9489 - Endor Rebel & Imperial Trooper Battle Pack. Click on the image to see more.
  2. A very refreshing CB entry mutley! I'm always fond of seeing SW movie scenes that have never been recreated in LEGO before, and you have done a wonderful job capturing the overall essence of the scene. Great job!
  3. Aha! So this was why you were asking before regarding custom painting LEGO parts in dark red. And you sure did one heck of a job with it since the paint you used seems to be a perfect match with the standard dark red color. Well, of course the overall model is expectedly highly accurate and consistent with the quality of all your previous UCS MOCs. Brilliant work once again. I hope so, and you have clearly demonstrated that it could be done at a reasonable parts count. Besides, TLG hiving us a similar UCS model will probably give you the right-colored pieces to replace your custom painted ones in this MOC.
  4. While I don't necessarily agree that 9494 isn't a good set, Sion is right and we should stop this insignificant miniscule PT-CW category issue (I'll just edit that tidbit ok). So pls. people just drop it and give the Ol' Santatrooper a break!
  5. A very nice review of a cute polybagged little set Fangy! What's great about this set is you get not one, but two minifigs - a male and female civilian which can be quite useful in populating one's town. But unfortunately I'm not a fan of those new lifejackets, they look IMO and I still prefer the old classic one.
  6. I guess it depends on personal taste as I find Tim Burton's Alice in Wonderland a very enjoyable movie, so enjoyable that it's even one of my most favorite of all time. Call me Shallow Hal on this one and I'm in no way a movie expert but I guess what's important is at the end of watching the movie you have that good feeling of enjoyment. And because I thoroughly loved that movie I even recently bought the DVD and watched it again last weekend (and gave me an idea for my next MOC project). <br>
  7. Err.. people, as much as we'd all like to nerd and geek it out with our LOTR knowledge, let's keep the discussion on (or at least relate your points to) LEGO LOTR, and not just LOTR alone.
  8. Very impressive LDD rendition of the Invisible Hand L-DI-EGO! I agree that the overall design certainly looks much better than the system-scale starships that TLG has released and I personally would like this to become a set. But then reality kicks in, and as FA pointed out, the main limiting factor that will prevent this from becoming a real set is the high piece count, which is a shame considering how good of a digital model this is. I don't know if the piece count can still be significantly further reduced/optimized though I feel if ever TLG releases one in the future it won't be as good as this one whether it be system-scale or UCS-scale (the price-parts restriction won't just allow it). But that doesn't take away the sheer fact that this is still a fantastic LDD MOC.
  9. Because we, the staff decided that it should be here in Historic. The simple logic is LOTR is supposed to temporarily fill the Castle line of products of TLG, the same way what PoTC did in the Pirates theme. Does it really matter whether LOTR, POTC, or any other licensed theme for that matter is based on historical or fictional events? At the end of the day, what's important is it's part of our LEGO hobby - and as such we should keep the discussion within that realm. Pls. refrain from straying away from the focus of the discussions. Next time kindly reconsider the way you post, as it borders to trollish flame-baiting, which it seems you have successfully done by eliciting off-topic argumentative responses.
  10. Thanks for the comment Hollander. :) The Razor Squadron didn't actually appear in TCW series, I just based it on Hasbro's model. I think the mods I did are ~30-40%, so majority of the ship is still the base structure of 8088.

  11. Satele Shan. She's a descendant of Bastila Shan. If I may guess the minifigs for the TOR sets, the astromech droid will be T7-O1, while the Old Republic Trooper is Jace Malcolm (most prominent trooper in the game trailers). I honestly find the design of Saesee's Delta 7-B as utterly uninspired as it is basically just a green version of Ahsoka's. How's that for lazy designing huh? Not TLG's fault though, but the TCW guys'. (This lack of new designs is the reason why I stopped doing my Delta 7-B MOCs )
  12. I think it's Malgus, and the probable reason why he doesn't have the respirator-breather thingy is because it is based on the young Malgus on the "The Return" Cinematic Trailer of the game (below), where the Fury also appeared.
  13. Yeah, I stand "corrected", that was my initial collaged image guess on the (then-rumored) Republic Starfighter even before the prelims surfaced. Thanks for pointing that out and linking the correct starfighter. Though I got all the figs right.
  14. Knowing how enjoyable Hinck's games are makes it really compelling for me to sign-up for this one, though I'm not so sure if I know how to play mystery games as I haven't played nor followed one before. But in case additional players will be needed I'll be ready on standby.
  15. I think it's meant to squeeze in as much characters as possible from both sides of the Republic (Satele Shan, Republic Trooper, new droid) and the Empire (Darth Malgus, two Imperial Troopers) in the limited number of sets (probably only these two) for the SWOR game. Unlike in TFU where only Starkiller was the prominent character.
  16. I believe she would be in the Gungan Sub.
  17. Yeah I'm with you there, I've actually commented before about this fleshie issue which inexplicably keeps on bugging the LOTR discussion. I don't quite understand the complaints of the fleshie-haters, I mean they've been getting yellow-skinned figs in the Castle line for years and years and years now and they're still not content? It's not like LOTR will completely replace Castle FOREVER. I think there's a reason why the teaser image shows a new ring piece (even if it's CGI), and I'd like to believe we're getting this instead of a 1x1 round plate or 1x1 round tile for the One Ring.
  18. While I totally agree with you that LOTR is one of the greatest, if not the greatest, stories ever told, let's try to refrain from bashing other themes which might offend some of the fans of such product like, in this case Kingdoms. Shall we?
  19. So simplistic yet very realistic expectations, and I couldn't agree more. I think most of us have already seen good examples from previous licenses (SW, HP, PoP, PoTC) and most likely those would be indicative of the "quality/size/scale" of the sets we'll be getting from LOTR. Even if we'll get a simple horse cart, or castle tower/wall, or a ballista, etc., the beauty of the LEGO medium is there will always be (A HUGE) room to modify and improve the sets to our liking.
  20. Yeah, I guess I'm just trying to convince myself that all of us should be adults where in fact there are indeed some kids here. So I agree it would be best to tone down on the intimidation as I wouldn't want to leave a poor kid scarred for life because of a couple of harsh words thrown at him in an online game. To be honest, I've always felt bad moments after making someone else feel bad, so if I had the chance I would take back those words. It's just sometimes it's hard to control what you're saying/posting when you're in the heat of the moment, even if part of it is just meant to tease or joke. I'm happy to have had this discussion since it's sort of a reality-check, and gives me the chance to re-assess my behavior as a mafia player.
  21. I must have had some memory loss since I can't seem to remember how I found out about Eurobricks. All I know is that I joined back in '09, but didn't get fully active until a year later, and from then on until this day this has certainly been the most exhilarating online experience I've ever had. Not only has EB been my daily source of my "LEGO fix", but it also has been a constant part of my everyday life - so ingrained into my subconscious that I can't fathom existence without peeking just by a second at this lovely forum. There are a lot of things that I really like about this site, not speaking as a staffer but as a regular member: - The forum-style with highly engaging discussions with fellow AFOL/LEGO enthusiasts who share the same passion and enjoyment with our LEGO hobby; - The very organized structure of the forums, highlighted by the excellent graphic works (banners, skins, etc); - Fresh exciting stuff everyday: up-to-date news, impressive MOCs from all themes, excellent set reviews, regular contests which encourage participation among members, etc. - And the most important thing of all - the overall community spirit which you can really feel as if you're part of one big international family. It seems it was just only yesterday when we were celebrating 10,000 members, and now we have doubled, and hopefully we could welcome more in the near future so they could also feel this unique EB experience.
  22. My apologies Your Highness. NOTE: Rumor and Speculation Discussions = Pages 1 - 38 / Confirmation Discussions = Page 39 onwards. Done. Offering suggestions is much better than outright complaining.
  23. I think that's what's important if there were hurt feelings within the game, is that the instigator should at least make amends with his/her "victim" and make it clear that it wasn't personal and it's all part of the game. In Isla Paradisa, I apologized to smittyfan, the same with sok and Scorpiox in this game. I believe def did the same way too with Nightshroud, Scorpiox, et al. This way, hopefully there will be no hard feelings/grudges in case the involved parties meet again in future games. I also do take note of what I've been doing wrong in the games I've playing, and to hopefully never do it again. Every game is a learning experience for me. Fortunately, we're all adults here, and we're expected to have the maturity to know the difference between playing in character and taking it too far outside the game.
