First of all, I have never bought a set that I didn't like and just took them apart after building. For someone with limited 'resources', I carefully plan every purchase that I get to prevent loss/wastage of said valuable resources. So far I've all been satisfied with them - but not completely satisfied. And that's where the taking apart the set comes in: For SW sets - I never take them apart, only modify right after building to correct the inaccuracies that I see. For non-SW sets - I take them apart after some time, but not right after building them. I usually let them stay intact for a month or so, then scavenge them for parts I need for my MOCs.

I agree that with the detailed hairpieces nowadays, it's very likely Vos will get a dreadlocked hair, though the girl's hair for Vos is actually just fine with me. I just hope it is not too detailed like the dreadlocks of the upcoming Capt. Jack Sparrow's fig.

Pretty good build Tricky-Bricky. I think you got the overall shape right, I'm just not so sure about those observable gaps between the stacked plates. Maybe when you have the spare parts/pieces you could try to fix that. One more thing I would suggest is the addition of details and greebles at the sides, just like in the Venator.

Hello Thorsten and welcome to Eurobricks! No worries, your intro's not that late. I'm way worse than you, it took me more than a year and a half when I made my introduction. Anyways, continue enjoying the site and see you around.

Another nice creation Leo-J! This looks like an abstract metallic sculpture of a world-renowned artist.

Probably, but I doubt more than 3,000 users are finding that elusive witch at the same time. We have no way of knowing, let's just see if the on-going raffle unit will have an effect on this new record. It would also be interesting to see how long this new record will hold up. 1 year? 1 month? 1 week?
-
Very impressive indeed. What's more impressive is how big the previous record was broken, it was not just slightly passed but we saw roughly a 50% increase = 1,000+ more users than the previous record.

I don't know if any of you guys have noticed (or no one has brought it up yet) that we have a new record in Eurobricks for most Online At Once! We accomplished the feat last August 31, 2010 at 10:42 PM (EB time) with 3,715 online users browsing the forum at once, breaking the previous record of 2,000+ last Dec. 2009? (sorry, I don't remember the details of the last record, if any one knows it, pls. do share.) So does this call for a celebration?!? Cheers fellow Eurobrickers!

Must.. resist.. temptation.. budget.. ain't.. sufficient.. yet... Thanks for sharing this review of a truly wonderful set HJR. But no thanks since the more I stare at the shuttle and the more I read your review, the more I'm tempted to prematurely buy this 'baby'...

Nice little impulse set MOC Skalldyr! Great job on the box presentation too. I personally like the idea of 'The Torturer' but I highly doubt TLG will release something like this due to the relatively violent nature of the set.

Lovely windmill MOC RobinBobinTheGreat! I love how you used the pirate ship part for the windmill blades, they're effectively huge and really look good. Very well done!

Star Wars: The Clone Wars: season 3 discussion
XimenaPaulina replied to Corvus's topic in Culture & Multimedia
I was referring to the sexy body of Aayla: Transformation of Ahsoka's skinny build to a mature curvy body just like Aayla (they wear similar skimpy outfits afterall, unlike Shaak Ti who is heavily clothed). -
I beg to disagree. First, the green clone in the Clone Trooper BP is Eeth Koth's clone troops based on the green markings and they are clearly not Clone Commandos. Second, it's not easy to shave off the fin of the standard clone trooper helmet, and even if you remove the fin, it still wouldn't look like a commando since the shape of a clone commando helmet is different than that of a standard clone.

Nahh... Not really, I've been a LeBron fan since his high school days - from Akron to Cleveland to Miami (or wherever he goes). So I'm not like other Miami Heat bandwagoneers.

MOC: A little excavation
XimenaPaulina replied to Adrian86's topic in LEGO Action and Adventure Themes
Pretty good first build (in EB) Adrian! The build may be simple but it is easily recognizable as a jungle, and the close positioning of the greeneries in a 16x16 base give the vignette a 'thick jungle look'. Good job and welcome to EB! -
Nice review SuperChris. From my limited enjoyment in the HP movies, the Quidditch matches/scenes are what stands out for me, and this set is a small but good representation of the 'real' game. I think the design of the torsos of the two Quidditch teams are nicely done, just like in the movies. But what I'm most interested in this set is the new hairpiece of the Malfoy guy. That hair will have lots of potential use in non-HP MOCs.

I think it's not a matter of whether you could change the arm easily or not, but the prospect of TLG letting this obvious inaccuracy be official, it just wouldn't look right. Wouldn't you mind if Darth Vader had one arm in white instead of black, just because you could easily change it? I know the photos are still preliminary so they still have time to fix it.

I'm gonna go against the tide and say that I'm not really into LDD. Don't get me wrong, LDD seems to be a very useful building tool for most people, but not just for me. I'm more of the old-school builder who's more comfortable creating MOCs using real bricks instead of a computer program. Nothing beats the experience of actually putting bricks together, having a hard time removing them physically when you got it wrong, taking forever to look for a piece amongst a thousand parts - all of these just naturally feel right compared to mere clicking of the mouse or just typing CTRL+Z. With regards to planning, I would rather use free-hand designing than LDD. And the most important thing of all, real-brick building gives you a final concrete product at the end of day, whilst LDD building will just give you a lifeless photo file which you cannot enjoy until you resort to building it in real bricks.

I simply love this shot - Big Lego Lamp peeking at the window, nice!

Nicely done J4ke! I'm not that familiar with the ship, I got curious so I decided to look at a reference pic of Halo War's Sparrowhawk, and I think you pretty much got the overall design of the ship right. The basic details and elements of the ship are there so good job!

It's a good thing you know what you want to do, that's always a good start. Good luck on your lego plans. This site will be able to help you in a lot of ways, especially inspiration, building techniques, technical answers, the works. Just take a look around and ask if you would like to know something. To answer your question, MOC stands for My Own Creation. For other terms, this EB Glossary might be helpful to you. --> linky.

Wow it seems you have a wide range of interests, well good luck on that. Based on experience, it's hard to collect even in just two themes, that's why for the meantime I'm just concentrating on SW stuff. But I'm pretty sure there are a lot of avenues where you could find good deals for the sets/parts that you want.
