  2. Simply love those intricate and highly-detailed torso and leg prints. And this is the first dark-toned elf hair right? That facial expression fits well the Last Alliance Elrond. Though I wouldn't be surprised if he has the alternative calm expression like the double-faced head of the ComicCon Bilbo Baggins exclusive fig. Still hoping for a Rivendell Elrond in a future set! (Council of Elrond?)
  3. I sure hope that those who get their hands with these exclusive Comic-Con minifigs are indeed "die-hard fans" of either LEGO or the comic world, and not some cheap-a** greedy toy seller who wants to make a profit out of these exclusives. I have no problems with these exclusive figs, as long as they go to passionate toy collectors. With regards to this petition, I've never been a fan since rarely do these petitions succeed. Heck even the "mos prominent petition program of LEGO" - the CUUSOO concept, hasn't even proven anything. The point is we should just trust TLG with what they're doing. For all we know, they might have plans of releasing these characters (in another variant) in future sets (remember that they plan things waaay ahead, as in years, before they release sets/minifigs). I say as Adult FOLs we should practice patience, since petitions like this somehow make the FOL community look like a bunch of impatient brats. Sure we could still voice out our wants/wishes in online forums like here in Eurobricks, but to go all-out with an aggressive "Here we've gathered a gazillion signatures so give us what we want or else" petition, I don't think that would sit well with TLG since it implies that they're not doing their job and that they need to be "reminded". Again, as overused cliché it is, patience is a virtue. Just look at how us SW FOLs have to wait for a long dozen years to finally get a Queen Amidala fig!
  4. Another brilliant Moodland creation Kevin! The Batman fig is great, but I must say I'm even more impressed with the awesome-looking Batpod. I love the articulation of this build, and the relatively large Moodland scale really helped in putting the necessary details and proper proportions in there. Well he has done some equally impressive Moodland vehicles in the past (AT-RTs, Endor and Hoth Speederbikes, STAP, etc.), though I agree it wouldn't hurt to treat us with more vehicles, perhaps a Moodland-scale Tumbler in the near future? [/wishful thinking]
  5. It's safe to say that China and US will be the top 2, and I'm seeing China topping both the gold and total medal count this time around. I think they were slightly disappointed last time in Beijing and they're probably hell-bent on topping both medal tallies in London and claim supremacy in Olympic competition. And for the sport I care about, my fearless forecast will be Team USA successfully defending their basketball crown.
  6. Yep, same here in Singapore around that time also (11:00AM - 11:30AM), with "The connection has timed out" prompt. Other websites were working during that time.
  7. Oooohh.. The Visual Dictionary style presentation is just pure EPICNESS! I've always loved that layout (and even used it on my last MCW contest entry ) and you nailed the presentation flawlessly! Not to mention how unique the concept of your astromech is and the build is just as awesome. Exceptional work overall! (Hats off to you Praiter)
  8. Friedchickenfairy used Palpatine's pauldron in his custom Iron Man (below). The one used in the ARC Trooper is also made of the same cloth material which look inconsistent/off with the rest of the plastic metal suit. I still think the first pauldron shown above looks the best for the Iron Man fig.
  9. ^^ That really looks great! The pauldron doesn't make the helmet look awkwardly high but in fact makes the helmet not look "overly gigantic"/"too oversized". Thanks for sharing this, I think this is the best solution to make the Iron Man fig look respectable.
  10. I'm a big fan of the "React" series by Fine Bros, I'm subscribed to their channel and have watched all their videos! And a little something for our Bronies in the Haus: And then there's this: The Annoying Orange - another favorite youtube channel of mine.
  11. I'm not quite sold to this Obi-Wan version too. Yeah it's supposed to look young but it turned out ' too young-looking' IMO. Though I also think the one in the Podracer set does not look like young Obi (cocky smirk you wouldn't see much from jedi). The use of the classic hair is quite understandable, though I'm still hoping we'd get a hairpiece to represent that type of short hairstyle in the near future (useful for other minifigs too - Hawkeye comes at the top of my mind). Nothing's impossible, though it might take a while (another dozen years perhaps? ) before we see this Queen Amiadala fig in another set. TLG would definitely maximize this fig to sell this set, and even if this fig find its way in the aftermarket (eBay, BL) it still would've served it purpose since those sellers would've still bought the set in order to sell this fig. Yeah you're probably right about that, as I vaguely remember the survey details from the past years. Looking back how the 'other choices' in those surveys have already made their way as actual sets it's really good to know that TLG is listening to fan requests.
  12. I love this! Just like your other custom figs I've seen the decal work here is impeccable! And that hat-hair combo looks great! Excellent job! Any chance of you doing the Oompa Loompas?
  13. EPIC custom work JimB! (From one big Linkin Park fan to another ) You've brought the album cover into minifig form perfectly.
  14. Yeah no worries I understand what you're saying about the lack of playability, and I also have a feeling it wouldn't register much to FOLs, it was just a long-shot suggestion/idea coming from the huge sports fan in me. (though now I'm curious about how many LEGO fans are sports fans also, but that is a topic for another discussion...)
  15. One thing going for this Galaxy Patrol/Space Marine theme idea is that there is no new rumored theme in the horizon for the Sci-Fi genre, so it's very plausible that they will make this as the new Sci-Fi theme following SP3 and AQ in the near future. Unlike the suggested Roman theme, no matter how promising, which may have to take a backseat until the current LOTR/Hobbit line in the Historic theme is finished. One theme I'd like to see be developed from the CMFs is a sports theme. This aspect has been consistent throughout the CMF series, as we've gotten at least one sports-based minifigure in each of the series. Just imagine sets featuring, "a Tennis Grand Slam Match", "American Football Touchdown", "Boxing Championship Bout", "a Baseball Pitch/Batting scene", or even a reboot of the soccer/football and/or a basketball themes (still hoping for a basketball player CMF), not to mention the winter sports. I don't know how well this theme would be received by LEGO fans though I thought it's a good idea to throw out there for future consideration.
  16. These are pretty good purist customs, well done! What I liked: The S.H.I.E.L.D. Soldier (great use of the Galactic Patrol fig), Thor's shoulder piece (as broad as it should've been), Hawkeye's quiver (clever rubber band solution), Cap's Obi-Wan hair, Stark's Galactic Patrol head (even if not in the proper blue color), Loki's more evil maniacal expression and the small neat details like Banner's green flask and Coulson's teddy bear! On the other side, I'm not much a fan of Iron Man's shoulder cloth piece (it kinda looks out of place in the whole plastic metal look of the armor suit), Fury looks weird without the beard, and I feel a better hairpiece for Hawkeye would the CMS Sleepy Head hair. Banner looks good to me (I also did the same hair-head combo, though I colored Anakin's hairpiece black). Your Coulson also looks good, and an alternative face might be Admiral Piett's head. Overall, I really liked the simple but effective purist solutions that you did here. (Though not as far to say as purist customization is always better, I'd like to think that both purist and non-purist techniques can be effective when done properly ).
  17. Me Wantz Brainszz... LEGO Monster Fighters 9465 - The Zombies is now available at LEGO Shop@Home
  18. Unfortunately we have to expect that should TLG indeed release the Bat and the camo-Tumblers vehicles (as currently being rumored). Official sets tend to compromise aesthetic accuracy in favor of build stability (+playability), which is understandable for a kid's toy. As an AFOL, I undoubtedly prefer these amazing MOCs, whose overall size, proportions, design, color scheme, and functionalities are all accurate and true to the source material. But my main concern is if TLG does release the rumored Bat and camo-Tumbler sets then would this CUUSOO idea just be moot and academic even if it reaches the required 10,000 votes?
  19. I'm pretty sure if ever there will be an Avengers-Spidey collaboration the top honchos of Disney/Marvel and Sony they would've planned way ahead and would've figured out how the storylines would pan out for each movie franchise. And it's not as if Spidey would be a regular member of Avengers, it may be just a one deal thing where he just helps the Avengers against a formidable opponent (Thanos?), and when the task is finished Spidey could go back to his single-hero duties in NYC (just like Spidey's cameos in the Earth's Mightiest Heroes cartoon series).
  20. Great to know that an Ant-man movie will be made, it will almost surely include the Wasp in there. Both will eventually find themselves in Avengers 2, rightfully so considering they're two of the founding members of the team in the comics. It would be cool to have Spidey join make an appearance in the Avengers sequel (even as a one-time "I'll help you this time" thing). I guess it makes sense since they've cast a B-list actor (Andrew Garfield) the same way the other Avenger movies had (Chris Hemsworth as Thor, Chris Evans as Cap, Mark Rufallo as Hulk, Jeremy Renner as Hawkeye), it would still be financially-feasible to have a huge cast of heroes for a 'beefed-up' Avengers line-up (only RDJ, Scarlet J., and SLJ command high talent fees). I think it would be a stretch to get the F4 in there, considering they're a 'separate' team who has helped the Avengers in the comics but not technically 'joined' the team under the Avengers name. And it would be a director's nightmare to give each hero a significant exposure in the movie. I'd already be happy even it was only the Ant-man, Wasp, and Spidey added to the Avengers.
  21. Yeah something like that, I just remember listing my Top 5 (or 10?) and I put Queen Amidala as my top choice. Though it's kinda crazy to know that the Taun-Taun beat out Amidala. (I don't want to live in this world anymore. )
  22. It's quite funny since I used that image as a reference for the specific parts of the Bongo yet I didn't notice that orange cargo thingy in there (the image is quite small afterall ) Thanks for pointing that out! I do think this set makes perfect sense since I just now remembered a couple of separate instances in the past where TLG surveyed SW FOLs on: a) Which SW character they'd like to see the most as a minifigure (If I remember correctly, I answered this survey on FBTB and Queen Amidala won, which was my top choice too); and b) Which set they'd like to see for the 30th Anniversary of Star Wars (again if my memory serves me right). I believe the 8038 The Battle of Endor set was the top fan favorite and two of the other choices were an updated Gungan Sub and a Palpatine's Arrest set (which we'll get later this year). So from those results it made sense for TLG to combine both the fan-requested Queen Amidala fig together with the also requested updated Gungan Sub as they're both from Phantom Menace. (Though I'm still keeping my fingers crossed for one of the chrome Naboo starships, no matter how expensive it will be. ) Also good to know that TLG does not totally dismiss the FOLs' requests and simply "shelves/schedules the idea" for future consideration/release.
  23. Praiter Yed - 1 (Mr. Potato Head turned to "Ms. Friends Head" is indeed genius!) The Penguin -1 (As always ready to go the extra mile to create a custom Penguin minifig that suits the occasion!) Oky - 1 (The 'Friendsified' avatar is great, but with matching butterfly-adorned Star Command logo in the sig - even better!)
  24. Superb work on these customs darkdragon! Great job going the purist route and giving them unique looks even as you said they dress pretty much the same. I'm certainly looking forward for the remaining presidents, particularly "Teddy" Roosevelt, JFK, and the more recent ones - the Bushes, Clinton, Obama.
  25. Just wanted to share with you this very cool "Building Video Review" of this 9499 Gungan Sub made by the great Artifex Creations (I added this at the end of the review). I think this is a nice way to appreciate the build of the sub if you wouldn't get the chance to purchase this set. Enjoy!
