Nice little review Oky, thanks for sharing! It's a nice freebie, and quite memorable too for TLG's 80th b-day and coinciding with RA's birthday. Good for those who can get these free, unlike us who rarely (or never) get these promo polybags in this part of the world.

Review: 9494 Anakin's Jedi Interceptor
XimenaPaulina replied to Masked Builder's topic in LEGO Star Wars
Thanks for the review Masked, I really loved the comparison pics of Anakin and Obi-Wan figs with their movie reference material, just goes to show how they really resemble the actual characters! I do agree this is a nice set to pick-up at the price point, considering the Eta-2 hasn't been released for quite some time now so it's a good chance to own this for those who missed the previous versions. And I really liked how they included the Mustafar elements so we could recreate one of the most dramatic scenes in the trilogy ("You were my brother Anakin, I loved you.." - a combination of ). -
Finally! A proper review of this set and the reviews for this wave are now complete! Thanks for doing this review 'starstreak'! Now my thoughts on the set: I think the fact that it took this looong time before someone posted a review of this speaks a lot about the lukewarm perception of this set. I personally am not a fan of huge ships downsized for a set, and compared to the previous releases (Venator, Republic Frigate, etc) this has got to be the weakest of the bunch IMO. The overall design is boring for the most part, which is not TLG's fault but of the source material. The same goes for the minifig line-up, now this is what you call "lackluster" - all minifigs were already previously released in smaller sets (Anakin, Dooku, Grievous, two meh BDs) so no incentive of having them, and the lone new minifig - Padme - isn't even appealing at all due its CW face! I've always thought one of the best ways to help sell a huge set is to put exclusive figs in the set, but it's really mind-boggling why TLG took a major step-back from having FOUR new exclusive minifigs (Vos, Koth, Wolffe, Wolfpack Trooper) in last year's CW flagship set, the Republic Frigate, to one new measly exclusive fig in this year's biggest CW set. An unappealing ship + yawn-inducing minifig line-up + high price = recipe for a poor-selling set. (Sorry to be such a "negative ray of sunshine", but that's just my honest opinion of the set, but the review is great and well done! )

Thanks for another great review Rufus! This has always been one of my most favorite CW sets, second only to the 7676 Republic Gunship, and this is certainly a must-have for any CW army-builder. Despite the gaping flaws I think TLG did a pretty decent job with the overall design, capturing a good balance of aesthetics, accuracy, playability, and the stability and piece count requirements. As far as the minifig line-up goes, it might be perceived as 'weak' now, but during its time of release you'd be able to get the three main characters of the TCW movie (and later the TV series) in just one set! It saves one a lot of trouble buying the ugly "box-with-wings" Twilight just to get Anakin and Ahsoka, plus you get the then-exclusive Rex, and of course the AT-TE which is essential to any CW Army. If you look at it that way then this was a great pick-up overall back then, both minifig-wise and vehicle-wise.

Well, I'm not Korean ( ) but a quick search in Google gives me this English translation of the "Gangnam Style" song: The "Gangnam Style" the song refers to is associated with the posh lifestyle in Seoul, South Korea's Gangnam district where the people are hip, trendy, and exude a certain "swag". The singer, PSY, compared Gangnam to Beverly Hills in the USA.

'Stolen' LDD MOCs in the LEGO.com Star Wars Creations Page
XimenaPaulina replied to XimenaPaulina's topic in LEGO Star Wars
Great to know everything has been sorted out. Though this may not totally stop this kind of 'theft' online, this is still a significant step in hopefully educating the kids out there (who I know are reading this forum). Good to also know that TLG responded promptly, though I have yet to receive a reply on my email, but still satisfied overall with the quick action. -
Celebrating the Reviewers Academy's Fourth Anniversary!

Indeed it is! 19 new reviews to marvel at. (and to learn from) Congratulations to the RA and to its amazing faculty of reviewers! You really are the cream of the crop when it comes to set reviews in all of the FOL community and thanks for continuing to inspire me to do my best in my own reviews. -

I hear you, we have good intentions in sharing LXF files yet these things happen. I guess we just have to continue doing what we think is right and what will benefit the FOL community. Yeah I understand how the internet can be harsh/unfair like this. This isn't actually the first time somebody ripped off a MOC photo from me, I've experienced this in flickr before (thanks to a vigilant flickr group who informed me). But this is the first time that someone stole my work and proudly claims that they're his own work, that he did this, this that.. Ugh... Kid doesn't even know how much time and effort I spent doing those MOCs and building them in LDD. Sigh, really disappointing... I guess I just have to learn to accept and deal with this reality. Though I'll be really interested how the LEGO Customer Service will handle this, considering those 'stolen MOCs' are hosted on their official website, which isn't great for the company's image. -
I just discovered, to my annoyance, one member of the LEGO.com Star Wars Creations Page named -MasterBuilder-, has 'stolen' LDD MOCs from various builders here in Eurobricks and wrongfully claims they're his own creations. Here's the link of the Member Page: http://us.starwars.l...FY0RElqcHZFeg-- Below is the list of the stolen LDD MOCs (which you could see in his page): 1. LDD Creations - AT-RT Collection (from KielDaMan, EB Topic: http://www.eurobrick...howtopic=50708) 2. LDD Creations - Jedi Starfighters (from KielDaMan, EB Topic: http://www.eurobrick...howtopic=50708) 3. The Millennium Falcon's Escape (from spacepilot3000, EB Topic: http://www.eurobrick...owtopic=61735). I assume he got the LXFs in the EB LXF MOC Index. I'm really disappointed considering that LXF Index was meant to encourage interest in LDD building and to share various building techniques but I never thought an immature kid would irresponsibly use them. I've already reported this issue with the LEGO Customer Service (since apparently there is no Contact the Moderating Staff in that site). Hopefully, they would take the appropriate actions.

Pictorial Review: 6862 Superman vs. Power Armor Lex
XimenaPaulina replied to BaraSH's topic in LEGO Licensed
I believe it is but only proper that you give proper credit to the creator of this animated image - Oky, so as not to confuse the readers/viewers who might think this is your own creation. Just a piece of advice. EDIT: I see you already gave proper credit. -

After recently discovering the newly-released LDD to POV-Ray Converter made by the awesome Martin Hronský, I decided to test the program with one of my favorite LEGO Models - my modified Artifex Creation's Batman Tumbler. And here is the result of almost 17 hours of rendering and a GREAT deal of patience on the side! Isn't it a realistic thing of beauty? This is truly a testament of the program's amazing rendering power! Batman's Tumbler by Kiel.Da.Man (flickr) Without the background: Tumbler_Render by Kiel.Da.Man (flickr) LDD Model: Tumbler_LDD by by Kiel.Da.Man (flickr) Real Model: If you'd like to learn how to use this new wonderful 3D modelling program, head over to this dedicated topic on LDD2PovRay in the LDD Forum. LEGO Star Wars 2013 Pictures and Rumors
XimenaPaulina replied to Erdbeereis's topic in LEGO Star Wars
So what's his name then? I never read about in Wookiepedia. And according to this official Star Wars product, he's just referred to as Rebel Pilot (Mon Calamari) - unnamed. -
It's common courtesy to communicate first any problems you might've encountered to the seller before leaving any sort of feedback. I've experienced missing/wrong pieces in my BL orders before and all it took was a simple email and fortunately for me the sellers were accommodating enough to send the missing/replacement pieces at no extra charge. So let the seller know first what happened and try to work out things with him/her.
-
Hmmm, that's surprisingly shocking and enlightening at the same time. Looks like the seller intends to use the impressive list of sets in this so-called complete collection to "overwhelm" the potential buyer and subtly force the buyer to not bother to double-check the actual price of the sets. That's one clever and deceitful tactic alright. That's what the seller said, but I'd assume potential buyers even with half a brain would try to verify the actual price of the whole collection before actually purchasing this lot. Unless the buyer is filthy rich and doesn't care about the $. EDIT: I'll retract my statement until there's proof of the actual current value of the whole collection. I might just be interested enough to verify this...

Very nice! Simple yet so beautiful, good job! Props also to the artistic photography (yellow background, corner focus of the subject)

LEGO Star Wars 2013 Pictures and Rumors
XimenaPaulina replied to Erdbeereis's topic in LEGO Star Wars
I get your point with TLG's habit of putting random characters in sets (Queen Amidala in the Gungan Sub, C-3PO in the AT-AT, Princess Leia in the Y-Wing, etc.). I too would love to get Ackbar cheaply in this set but I was under the impression that the set only has one Mon Cal minifig, based on Hulk_Smash's statement: Hulk_Smash, did you see two Mon Cal figs or just one? If it's two then it's great to have both Ackbar and this new Mon Cal A-Wing pilot, but if it's just the pilot I'd still be contented since it's a new Rebel Pilot variant. -
LEGO Star Wars 2013 Pictures and Rumors
XimenaPaulina replied to Erdbeereis's topic in LEGO Star Wars
I don't think that Mon Cal minifig in the A-Wing set is supposed to be Ackbar at all, but most likely this unnamed Mon Calamari A-Wing pilot: I think it's just the combination of the fact that Mon Calamaris look almost exactly alike and Ackbar is so damn popular (It's a Trap!) that any fish-headed SW character is always identified as our good 'ol Admiral. Besides, why would Ackbar pilot an A-Wing when he's the Fleet Admiral right? (and he already appeared in a set with an A-Wing so it'd be nonsensical redundancy). EDIT: I think this closes the case. -

Oh no, I'm actually very impressed by the realistic differences of the various surfaces - particularly the rough surfaces of the slopes vs. the smoothness of the curved slopes/tiles and the matte finish of the rubber tires! That's the first thing I noticed during the rendering process and I could really appreciate that high level of detailing especially since I know how it physically looks like in my real model. Really great job on that aspect! (and I'm glad my render was able to show these various surface differences the program could achieve ) -

I agree it's a no-brainer on TLG's part that they would re-use the Ninjago quadruple arm torso for this rumored Krell fig. Though instead of a printed torso, one possibility is they could come out with a head piece similar to the new Gamorrean Guard which would give more 'buff' to the torso of Krell, as opposed to a head-only mold that would make the fig look awkwardly skinny. -

Oh I see, thanks for the explanation, saved me a lot of time figuring out something that's still 'up for improvement'. I also noticed this in the wheels of the minidigger in the front post, so I guess we'd just have to wait until this issue is resolved. -
Lego Superheroes 2013 Rumours & Discussion
XimenaPaulina replied to CorneliusMurdock's topic in LEGO Licensed
I have a gut feeling that we'd only get one TDKR set (sadly), as it seems TLG put almost all the interesting material of the movie in that single set = Camo-Tumbler, The Bat, and all the major characters except for Catwoman, who may just end up as an exclusive fig somewhere along the line. As you said the timing is questionable for another TDKR set a year after the movie's run, and I don't see anymore interesting set ideas coming from the movie (except for the aforementioned Catwoman in a Batpod). Optimistically, there is a slight possibility that it would be a 'surprise' set. -

Thanks 'legolijntje'! I do have another question regarding the resulting rendered image I got (re-posted below for easy visual reference): the curved part of the wheels aren't rounded enough and shows as segmented lines, how can I improve this? What should I tweak in the settings? Of course I could just simply do a trial-&-error but that would almost surely take a looong time, so if there are those who knows the technique to solve this I'd greatly appreciate the advice.
