  1. Wow, I'm very impressed with the Bag End set, this is easily the most visually-appealing set in the LOTR/Hobbit product line and it's certainly a nice deviation from the conflict-/battle-themed LOTR sets. For a LEGO set it has the "complete look" in it, unlike most playsets which look incomplete (this is like the Battle of Endor playset vs. the incomplete-looking Hulk Helicarrier Breakout, Home One Playset, Batcave, etc.). I also personally appreciate the calm, peaceful and serene greenery of this set as opposed to the dull and boring greys of almost all the LOTR sets. And for once I'd be getting a set not only for the minifigs but because of the totality of the set (build/structure + minifigs). Can't wait to grab this one.
  2. First all, thank you very much to LuxorV and The Penguin for such a wonderful contest! It was really a blast joining especially with a great amount of fantastic entries. Great job to everybody who entered the contest, I really enjoyed all the unique and colorful characters the participants came up with, creative imagination was really at display in this competition! And thanks for all the votes, to all who voted for their personal favorites! I'm sure all the participants really appreciated the support. Lastly, a huge thanks to "EB's resident philanthropist" The Penguin for generously sponsoring this contest, and for going the extra mile of giving additional prizes to other deserving entries. Major kudos!
  3. Even though this is a cheap clone brand of our beloved LEGO, I actually find this set quite appealing, in the sense that I've never seen this concept (mini-school + school bus) explored by LEGO before and I certainly want to see this as a LEGO set in the near future (more civilian-based buildings/vehicles in LEGO CITY is always welcome). The school is nicely done, as well as the bus, though I'm pretty sure TLG would do an even better job if ever they decide to do a similar set.
  4. Brilliant custom works George! Loved the use of the genie head for Nightcrawler, so is the clever hand for his tail. The decals look great too, and of course that awesome building!
  5. Man, I really missed your MOCs CM (I still remember the Yoda and Aqua-guy contest entries), so it's great to see you building again! The bright colors used perfectly fit the fun theme of this octopus ride. Also love the various hairpieces used.
  6. Wow, I'm amazed with these DC character customs - the details are cleverly and intricately done! This is how I imagined how the other characters not yet released in LEGO should look like. I actually planned on doing the the other JL superheroes to accompany the ones already released (Supes, Bats, WW, Lantern), but you made these so good that I don't dare to make my own. My favorites among these are the Atom microfig, Hawkman's mask, GA's glove arrow and Flash! Brilliantly done Bricky0!
  7. United or Unlimited? Yeah JLU was a great series as well, I just love superhero-superteams cartoons (Uncanny X-Men, Justice League, JLU, the recently-cancelled Avengers EMH, but NOT the dorky-looking The Super Hero Squad Show).
  8. Aww damn. I really loved that series, even if the animation is a bit simplistic, the way the series went all-out in maximizing different character appearances and touching on various storylines are the great points IMO. The new one does look promising, the animation artwork looks much better and more comic-like based on the image. But my main concern about this series being tied-in with the recent Marvel Movies is the expected limitation of the different characters appearing in the series. Like what K-Nut said, it's a shame that we won't be seeing the likes of Wasp and Black Panther, or Ant-man (until his rumored movie comes up). Those three were integral parts of the Avengers in EMH, and Wasp and Ant-Man were two of the original members of the Avengers yet they were not included to the current cinematic Avengers (at the moment). I couldn't care less about Falcon, I think he's a so-so hero. And yes, as much as a highly colorful hero outfit would look ridiculous in the modern world, I still prefer the vintage purple Hawkeye (at the very least in a cartoon series). I really hope this new series would outperform its predecessor, and I'll be eagerly anticipating this one.
  9. Ceroknight - The Middleman - 1 sok117 - Candi - 1 darkdragon - Sasha Echen - 1
  10. Catanas - Speedcat - 1 sok117 - NightHawk - 1 Oky - Golden Eagle - 1
  11. Darth Yogi - The Rabbit! - 1 Alopex - Nyan - 1 George G. - Necro - 1
  12. Now if they stuck with that relatively toned down and conservative color scheme I think it would've looked much better IMO. Thanks for sharing the pics, made me appreciate the design even more (but still not a fan of the too bright overall dark red/red with random white blotches color scheme).
  13. Is there already confirmation that A:EMH will be cancelled? I heard those were just rumors? I've just finished watching all of the episodes (Season 1 & 2) I must say this was one of the most enjoyable cartoon series I've watched, I'd even say far more entertaining than the Avengers movie or the Clone Wars series. It would be a shame if they would end this, I really liked how the series stuck with the classical look of the characters and how they touched on various storylines in the Marvel universe. If indeed this is the end of the run, I guess it's just the classical case of good things must come to an end (like JL and JLU).
  14. Fantastic mini-brickbuilt rendition of this alien tripod! I know it's quite hard to build in a small scale such as this and I think you really did a good job capturing the overall look and shape of the head pretty well considering the size and parts constraints. Very well done
  15. Now that's NPU EPU (Excellent Parts Usage)! And no studs! (LEGO Building has indeed come a long way). Great stuff Leo!
  16. Thanks! I actually contemplated really burning the edges of the cape to get an authentic burnt look but decided to sharpie it instead since I might not be able to control the actual burning. True, but kid geniuses who can control fire aren't. And thanks, glad you liked the fig!
  17. Living up to your 'Cat persona' eh? Very impressive entry - excellent custom decals, effective pink-black color combo, and great comic image - really well done! And it's always great to see chicks kitteh cats join the hero forces. Great job and best of luck in the contest!
  18. Thanks! Aside from running out of ideas and (and parts) to come up with a better vig, I though it would be cool to to pit Kid Flare against my villain contest entry Vagabond in this simple vignette. Nice to know to you liked it!
  19. Thanks! I did make a conscious effort to make that Superman-like "Goody Two-Shoes" type of personality for this kid hero, to deviate away from the usual dark backstories of most Batman characters. And looking forward for your entry too! Thanks dd! I actually enjoyed making the presentation even more than the actual custom fig and vignette, especially the Visual Dictionary layout (which I've always been fond of). It was a 'refreshingly nice' experience to do that, first time I did that concept and I'm really satisfied with the end product.
  20. Judging by another quality review of this set here in EB, this certainly looks one of the fan-favorite Superhero sets. And why wouldn't it? You get three NEW! great figs at a relatively cheap price with a nice-looking mech at the side which you could keep or use for parts. You can never really go wrong with this set IMO. Thanks for sharing Masked!
  21. Here it is, with a comparison shot with the Lando from the Home One playset (the latest Lando minifig before this one). I think the face print is just about right, it might've just looked 'printed too far down' because of the smile. And it's really nice to see how the new one is much more Lando-like with the livelier pupiled eyes and charismatic smile. ---- And thanks to everyone for the kind words about the review! Hearing those compliments makes up for all the extra effort and lost time for sleeping to come up with this review. I'll try to post more reviews of the new sets when I find the time (seeing majority of the sets for this wave have not been properly reviewed yet).
  22. Story-wise answer: Gotham is a multi-racial city so skin color vary from people to people. LEGO answer: I don't have a "young kid with nerdy glasses" fleshie head so I used this yellow one.
  23. Haha, I love this entry, particularly the hilariously effective combo of the cute rabbit mascot outfit and the cold-blooded villainy inside. (and that side face X X p print is epic!) The weirdness of the character reminds me of the likes of Professor Pyg and Baby Doll - certainly fits the crazy world of Batman! Good job and good luck!
  24. I really like the uniqueness of this fig - the unexpectedly-effective reversed helmet, cool-looking brick-built gun, and clever use of the ice skates for the axe blade - are all ingenious ideas. A well-done entry and best of luck!
