Marvel Superheroes 2015 Rumors & Discussion
agoodfella77 replied to CorneliusMurdock's topic in LEGO Licensed
This is my thinking as well. This set feels more like a UCS "lite". Microfigs and microbuilds are kind of "meh" for me. I'll be skipping this set and will be Bricklink-ing all of the figs at some point. My main gripes about the main figs: 1) No leg printing on Cap or Maria Hill, 2) the torso / leg design on Fury seems odd -- kind of fugly if I had to be totally brutal, 3) would have been nice to get the Shield logo on Black Widow's arms like Maria Hill does (not sure if I had missed it, but doesn't seem like it does), 4) Natasha's head is still not good / looks nothing like ScarJo. -

To echo another suggestion, I think that there should be a dedicated MARVEL Super Heroes thread to discuss anything / everything beyond specific 2015 sets. -

This has got to be some record for releases with the same variant. -

You are definitely not cheap to regret paying $100+ for an exclusive fig. The current prices on eBay are over $150. I'm sure with this announcement there is some serious buyer's remorse on the current winning bidders. It's really outstanding to see TLG releasing (or re-releasing) a lot more "exclusive" figs like Electro (although I'm not a big fan of the head print -- I'm definitely getting one now). -

That's great feedback, thanks. Yup, it will most likely be BL for the Helicarrier figs for me -- and it seems like there will be good company. -

Congratulations. You are quite skilled at calling people "kids" calling people "dumb", patting yourself on the back for being some kind of self-appointed mod and being judge, jury and executioner of "what the problems are and that you are right and everyone who disagree with you is wrong". Here's some advice: why don't you get off of your high horse and start contributing to the actual topics at hand now? (p.s. in case you don't realize it, you are proving my point about your own hypocrisy of perpetuating off-topic discussions -- carry on then :) Does anyone know how much figs which were exclusive to similar large sets went for on BL? -

I find it supremely ironic that your post does nothing but point fingers and is more off topic than anything you've highlighted. Let's get back to discussing the upcoming sets shall we? Thanks for this, I had no idea that this set was set to be a store exclusive. -
Marvel Superheroes 2015 Rumors & Discussion

Agreed. Very reasonably, there is a decent amount of gray area here. When talking about what is "Rumored" there can be a reasonable discussion about what is likely, what is unlikely and what is possible. After all, the title for this thread isn't called "MARVEL Super Heroes 2015 Only Things That Are 100% Confirmed and No Speculation Whatsoever" -- indeed, it has the word "Rumor" in the topic! At any rate, I am all for a general "future" thread where a broader discussion / speculation can be discussed. So, back on topic, it's odd that we haven't had a close-up shot of Quicksilver yet, really looking forward to seeing it. -

Marvel Superheroes 2015 Rumors & Discussion

I'm inclined to largely agree with this assessment (would be great to have an insider confirm). Stated again, Sony (Spidey) or Fox (FF / X-Men) only have film rights. Of course, if there is merchandise related directly with said films, then of course there maybe some kind of split. But Marvel / Disney does not split any profits from the Ultimate Spidey sets with Sony -- why would they? USM is content / production which is 100% in-house: produced by Marvel Animation Studios, distributed by Disney / ABC television. Now perhaps as an incentive to get Marvel to agree to do merchandising for Amazing Spider-Man, Sony fronts most or all of the marketing costs associated with merchandising -- who knows, but it's pretty clear that Marvel is doing its best to market products related to MCU, and if there is any merch from film content outside of MCU, I'm guessing that the marketing costs are heavily underwritten by the non-Marvel entity. But my original point stands: if Marvel wanted to do a Galactus figure, they could easily do one -- they simply stick to the Comic version (e.g. the one that appears in the video game). -

Not really. 1) What FOX owns are the rights to make films based on the Fantastic Four and X-men franchises including certain other characters. 2) The rights to the characters themselves are owned by Marvel. 3) for example, we've had Ultimate Spidey sets that have had nothing to do with Sony's ASM films. In short, TLG Marvel could do easily do a Galactus big minifig based on the comics, and probably should. -

100% agree. It is fan-EFFING-tastic. Decool stepping up. Hope to see more of this kind of stuff. SY or DC would be awesome if they did, here is a pic of regular minifigs and Hulk big fig for scale: -

Well, MARVEL killed off Wolverine (IMO a clear middle finger to FOX), so this dispute looks like it will be lasting a while. -

1) The percentage of LEGO customers that receive SDCC figs vis a vis Comic Cons is an incedibly minuscule number vs. the overall global TLG customer base. The tail will not wag the dog. 2) Even if you are correct and LEGO will never re-release any of the past SDCC exclusives, they might re-think that strategy going forward (we've already seen a number of SDCC figs make their way into "general population" even if they aren't "exclusives") 3) This is exactly why I love both the high end customizers (such as Phoenix, MR, etc.) and even the bootleggers -- they are filling the supply to meet the incredibly high demand created by LEGO limiting supply. 4) When Comic Cons were obscure conventions, perhaps big corporations could turn a blind eye to the rest of their customer base -- but in this day and age compounded by social media at the speed of light? I think they might just re-think pissing off the majority of their fans / customers. -

Got to say that I agree 100% with these comments. 1) Odd choice of exclusives (why not Coulson?) 2) The Fury jacket design does look a bit odd upon closer inspection 3) I'm very disappointed with the recycling of heads for both Cap and Hill. Especially Hill, TLG can def. use a refresh for female heads and this would have been the perfect opportunity...
