  1. Did you know, our member @Robert8 has been designing and posting dream CMF series for years now? Starting back in 2016, he has produced countless amazing designs, outstripping (and often preempting) LEGO's own. He's just completed Series W. Check it out by clicking the image below, and then if you haven't seen the rest of his work, click back to the beginning of his Ideas for CMFs topic and peruse them all!
  2. Good luck! As long as you're prepared for the frustration of them cancelling your order, there's nothing to lose. Seeing David's (SolidBrixStudio) video of the entire wave is really instructive to see the comparative size of the sets. The Vader Meditation Chamber is much much larger than I realised, so I feel more favourable towards it, though it's not something I want personally. The two location sets do come out the weakest in my opinion, just being so small for their prices, though both have cool Minifigures and with a bit of a sale will be good. Honestly though, on the whole this wave is just such a refreshing Star Wars wave and I hope LEGO keeps it up with the non-film-based sets!
  3. David Jones. They and Myer both have no shame in simply up an cancelling perfectly legitimate orders. It's something I never experienced in the US.
  4. As opposed to what, 2? Interesting that LEGO has stuck to their word and that it's finally back here, anyway. Just this morning ordered the Mando Fighter and Bad Batch Shuttle thanks to a 20% sale, though given this particular retailer's track record, I wouldn't be at all surprised to get a cancellation email. This wave has finally gotten me interested in actually buying larger Star Wars sets again after quite some time away. I think my last one over $40 would've been the previous System Shuttle Tyderium. Exciting times.
  5. Responding to these two points, on the subject of the designers having free reins, that's precisely what worries me. It seems the designers themselves are getting more interested in creating these non-playset sets rather than terrific playset ones. It's like they're a bit bored of creating the exact sets that I want most from this theme! The Deathly Hallows thing was an Instagram AMA, saved in Marcos' saved stories. It's precisely THAT he said that they find it hard to create sets from DH that's worrying. If they had something in the pipeline he would've had to say "can't talk about upcoming releases, sorry!" But he did of course leave it a bit open with a "But who knows..", so yes I expect they'd get there eventually, but not necessarily very soon. The Gringotts thing came from an interview by the YouTuber BricksByMind, but he apparently lost the actual recording of the interview so posted a summary of it. He said it with no ambiguity, but it would be better hearing Marcos say it himself.
  6. Isn't it our job to keep tabs on things and shut things down if they get really bad? We're not out to nitpick and censor every possibly "bad" thing anyone says but if things get really ugly then we'll stop it. And I really don't understand why people get caught up on others criticising a YouTuber. Some YouTubers, like Ryan, really embed themselves in the LEGO Star Wars fandom and purposefully become part of the narrative. They want to sway opinion, and they have a following with which to do so. That's fair game for criticism if/when people take issue with it! Yes, YouTubers are real people too, just like politicians and movie stars are real people, but they're public figures and fair to criticise when the criticism relates to the context. On the whole, I find our little Eurobricks corner of the internet fandom to be generally quite reasonable and balanced. I don't want to derail this thread with this meta talk either, but we mods are ALSO real people (volunteering) and anyone can always reach out if you think we're missing something. @Brikkyy13 thanks for your response to my Bad Batch Shuttle query. It's nice to here that it's an interesting build, and the space inside is certainly a plus. The speeders don't really bother me, though I kind of wish LEGO had ditched them altogether and charged a bit less for the Shuttle, leaving it as is. The green one is cool and accurate though.
  7. I'm on the fence about the Bad Batch Shuttle and wondered if anyone who had it yet might weigh in. For context I will be waiting for at least a 20% off sale (quite common in Aus), which would bring it to $120 AUD. On the pro side, the shuttle itself has a distinct look a colour scheme, it includes the whole team with good unique faces and could be the only time we get all of them, and I've been enjoying the show though not loving it. Cons: the shuttle is relatively small for the price, lacks a top locking mechanism and has slightly wonky proportions; the Minifigures have issues which significantly bug me like the helmets and printed backpacks; and despite somewhat enjoying the show I wouldn't say I care about the characters much, so could probably live without them.
  8. The thing is, we could still be thinking this if Marcos Bessa (the design lead) hadn't made statements to the contrary. From the sounds of it, for some reason they only had a three year plan to do parts 1-6 with no contingency for 7, then when that was going well they cooked up this year to honour the anniversary, and they have no particular plans for Deathly Hallows or Gringotts.
  9. Had to let this one sit with me for a bit... While I think it looks great and well-designed etc, it's not only not for me but also adds to my growing concern about this theme in light of what I personally want out of Harry Potter LEGO. We know that it's the designers who tend to pitch the ideas that wind up becoming sets, and it seems therefore that the designers are losing interest or confidence in just making traditional LEGO play sets. We already got three non playsets this year, and four playset adjacent sets with the Moments sets, and now we get another big one. I'm not trying to extrapolate too much from one set alone, but 2021 has been a year with only one great playset in my opinion (Hogsmeade), which hurts after three years filled with terrific ones. There are other sets with good stuff and good value, and I like the Fawkes set, but it's not like years past. This total display piece D2C simply adds to my lack of confidence in seeing sets I want in this theme going forward; namely, cool stuff based on Deathly Hallows and not boxy Hogwarts sets that look terrible from the outside.
  10. Jerry Seinfeld's hair piece is up Out of Stock, but with a price. Bit pricey (like a number of single-appearance hairpieces really), but nice that it's there. These are the new things I'm watching to come into stock: 79729 - Seinfeld Hair 65578 - yellow stud with handle 11601 - Halo sword yellow (search it and you'll see why I call it that) I like to note down the short code to see the other colours when I go to buy.
  11. Unfortunately the new Stormie helmet is here to stay. It's not like the Rebel pilot helmet that popped up in one set and got ditched afterward. They're committed to this one and said as much in a recent interview. I personally still have yet to get one of the new Stormtrooper helmets myself, but gosh it sure looks awful in every picture I've seen of it. The Forge looks like a great set, and like others have said, just a pleasant surprise that it exists. That said, the Armorer needs a fur piece, and the whole thing looks on the expensive side if it's going to be $30 USD. The parts count is ok, but many of them are very small and thus the overall size looks more like a $20 set. Not as bad a deal as the Mandalore Duel, but still.
  12. Two out of three sets you mentioned weren't released later, so their release didn't imply that they were major spoilers. The Tanker Truck set was held back probably because of a moratorium on including Spider-Man in advance Civil War merch so that his inclusion would be a "surprise" when that particular trailer released. Bringing in Spider-Man was a big part of Civil War's marketing, and Marvel didn't want the toys to spoil it in advance. That the bulk of the set he came in didn't appear in the movie was just another concept art issue.
  13. I can't remember which reviews they were, but I too read or watched at least a couple of reviews that mentioned getting an extra Wrecker armour. I hope that's the case for Paz Viszla in the Forge as well!
  14. It would cost the price of each figure multiplied by the number of figures in the box . I don't understand the question. Big stores don't have a special cheaper per box price. Sometimes speciality online stores will, like people mentioned MinifigureMaddness in Europe.
  15. It was down for a long chunk of time. This year has been weird since LEGO has been adding so many products to its site so far in advance. I can't remember them doing that to this level before. Usually things are just added maybe up to a month in advance but usually even less. Now it's not even August and we have stuff that's up for September and later. Given that context, I kind of get why people are concerned that the Forge hasn't materialised on the website, but in past years it wouldn't have felt surprising at all if it only popped up like two weeks before it was due to go on sale, whenever that will be.
  16. It's listed as October for Australia for some reason, but September most everywhere else. Looney Tunes also showed up in regular stores here in Oz nearly a month late, though in that case they were available on LEGO.com and from the certified stores at the same time as everywhere else. Possibly just a supply chain issue. Personally I don't care for the Disney+ shows or characters but I find a lot to like in this MCU Disney+ series, much more general use stuff than in DC. There are three great new textured hair pieces (Falcon Cap, Monica Rambeau, T'challa Star Lord), nice general new head prints including two brown ones, Old Man Luke hair in black, Captain Britain's very stylish new 40s hair, and a fair number of highly detailed Minifigure parts which are general enough to reuse in customs. Even T'challa's legs which have little boosters in the side, for example, can be reused in sci-fi or steam punk ish settings. I warrant that besides for the baby croc there aren't many exciting general use accessories, but the great Minifigure parts and prints make up for it to me personally.
  17. The comment was about the face, not the hair And for T'challa the blue cylinders would represent his boosters being on, which would definitely be nice for flying poses, but given he already includes two guns and an alternate hair piece I guess it's fair enough LEGO didn't include them.
  18. Just because LEGO still plans to release them doesn't mean they'll be widely available. The initial articles about VIDIYO's cancellation clearly stated that retailers could cancel their orders with no drama. Selling stuff at deep discounts doesn't make retailers a lot of money (that's the reason large scale retailers can afford to do it and mom and pop toy stores usually can't, or not to the same degree). If retailers have seen that they end up with lots of VIDIYO products that they're guaranteed to going to need to massively mark down, they might just up and cancel the orders. In that case LEGO might be stuck with so much product that they'll massively discount it themselves, but Bandmates S2 could become one of those things that's there for two seconds and then hard to find.
  19. Wow, holy new hairpieces Batman! Has anyone been able to tell conclusively if Tchala's hair piece is new or not? It looks like it is, but possibly the render is just weird. Interesting how many different reactions and rankings these are getting just here on Eurobricks alone. Most people are ranking Monica pretty low though, and that's one I want quite a lot! That new hairpiece is awesome, and brown female faces are still in quite short supply, so that's high on my list. I can't really be bothered to rank them all from 1 to 12, but separated into Wants, Maybes, and Don't Wants... Wants: Monica (hair piece and head especially) Tchala (useful parts all around actually) Loki (love that hair in any colour, fun head, funny Throg) Falcon (mostly want hairpiece, but the whole figure looks striking and awesome, so bumped out of "maybes") Maybe: Sylvie (like the croc but that's it, and care more about mammals than reptiles, so idk) Spider-Man (it's a really nice Spidey and the head is bonus) Captain Britain (really just want the hairpiece, so probably will get) Don't Want: Gamora (nice but parts not useful to my customising interests), Zombie Cap (completely unuseful) Bucky (dull) Scarlet Witch (hair looks bad and generally uninterested) Vision (uninterested in the character)
  20. The GWP Ideas Sailboat does indeed come with two dolphins. Nice!
  21. This is also highly dependent on region. Here in Australia I reckon the Mando starfighter and Duel sets have a good shot at going to backorder within the first day if not half a day. But then the retailer shops will have them within a couple of weeks hopefully and there will be a chance to get them for a little while.
  22. In addition to Aquaman mentioned before, the plain shirtless torso on the CMF19 showering guy first appeared in Fun at the Beach.
  23. Exactly my feeling as well. This print kind of works for Phase II because at least it looks like animated Phase II, but it doesn't work for Phase I at all.
  24. I think those were a phone order only situation, not listed online.
  25. @Gremer2 Sorry I might have been thinking about Phase I vs Phase II in Clone Wars rather than the films. In the show they made their armour quite a bit more angular for Phase II than Phase I. In the films you're right, the chest armour is nearly the same. The image on this page illustrates the show differences clearly: https://www.starwars.com/news/star-wars-inside-intel-clone-armor I guess my problem with this Phase I Commander here is really a problem with them going with the Clone Wars style in general, accentuating the area between the belt and chest so heavily. It just doesn't match the film look at all. It looked ok on the Phase II 501st because those were kind of based on the Clone Wars show, but people voiced dislike of that too. Given that Phase I and Phase II don't go together, I would have rathered they go back to the film proportions for Phase I at least.
