Wizarding World 2022 - Rumors & Discussion

I completely agree. Though I am one who didn't like the new system in general, the Polyjuice Potion set was great and I was keen to see more Hogwarts locations rendered in that style. Instead, they never followed through with the promise of that set, and in fact that set is still the only one NOT to include any roof sections. It's like they decided that all Hogwarts sets had to stand alone with a Hogwarts look, roofs and all, which is just weird. We could've gotten cool stuff in room-form to truly add into the castle like the challenges from PS to swap out for the Chamber of Secrets sections, or common rooms in this format, and so much more. Even for someone with a display of the 2018-20 sets which I greatly prefer, I would've gone for interior-focussed Hogwarts sets like that. What they've done instead does nothing for me. -
It is legit, and discussion is ongoing in the main space discussion thread: https://www.eurobricks.com/forum/index.php?/forums/topic/181550-lego-sci-fi-ongoing-rumors-speculation-and-discussion/

Good old Madame Pince in her action-packed library showdown scene. They even did her an exclusive hat hair (which could also benefit Rita), quite a lot for such a minor character. Not to mention Sinistra and the Honeydukes owners, also extremely minor characters with way less screen time than Percy and Rita. -

Nice haul! What's that head with round sunglasses and stubble, and what's the black hairpiece near the lambs? -
No it's not. It's called people have differing tastes. The first Avatar was a boring experience for me because I can only look at some spectacle stuff so long if there's nothing halfway interesting underlying it. And just because mine or anyone else's opinion: A. isn't yours and B. lines up with other people's opinions "on the internet", doesn't invalidate said opinion. I didn't go online in 2009 to form an opinion about the movie I had just seen anyway. Don't bully people out of this thread and gatekeep your particular opinion about the movie/franchise. Next time we'll have a private chat instead.
-
For my part, I don't care for this "franchise" (if you can even call it that yet with just two movies) personally but my interest in LEGO sets is almost never tied directly to my interest in the franchise they come from. I like cool new LEGO stuff like those Na'vi figures and even big blue horsey even though I have no interest in what they "represent", and sought out the Floating Mountains and Helicopter set for that reason (albeit once I found it for a full 50% off on eBay). It's also fun to engage in discussion about new untested LEGO themes from properties that are also untested when it comes to driving toy sales.

LEGO Star Wars 2023 Set Discussion - READ FIRST POST!!!

The difference is that the holes on the Mando and Phase I clone helmets are where they are basically meant to be in universe and don't interrupt the overall look of the helmet. On the Phase II helmets, LEGO has gone and added holes above where they are in universe, so the helmet now has two sets of bumps on top of each other. Instead of replacing the existing bumps with holes and making a new visor part to position properly, they've basically add the holes as a concession to the existing visor. Personally, ever since it first came out I haven't been a huge fan of LEGO's Phase II helmet. Like the Clone Scout Trooper helmet, it's actually too tall proportionally and the chin area is too pronounced. It's a bit better with the modern printing, but still not totally right. This would've been a good time to revamp the whole design instead of awkwardly drilling holes in the wrong place, though that would've caused a different uproar. -

And if you meant third in from the outside (the white one with some sand green down the centre which also looks medieval-y), it's from 80037 Dragon of the East. Here's the part and the set. -

I'm really glad to see them fix character design flaws. New much better Cedric head, proper Krum head, new specific Malfoy head, Cho in a much better skin tone. The amount of new prints is phenomenal as usual. Great injection of variety of torsos for all four houses, and new head prints where they weren't even strictly needed - all three Hufflepuffs I think, all three Slytherins, Angelina Johnson and Cho - unless some of those are not in fact new and I just can't place them, but none look very common anyway. As for the sets themselves.... These openable object sets are never going to do it for me. Didn't care for the moments sets, don't care for these. The Minifigures are more attractive overall in these than in the moments, but that's still not enough for me especially at the higher price. The Castle of Requirement - I'm torn on this one. It does convey the architecture of the room, but not really the jumbled mess of the interior because so many parts have gone into the overall structure of it instead. If the point was the interior scene, then why has it been turned into a big talk castle section. I'm glad they've shoehorned in the Grey Lady scene, but still overall, the set has a bit of an identity crisis. The Lake Task - this is a charming set and will look superb on display. I love the stackability with the two sections. My only slight criticism is that it's too much of a direct remake of the original set, down to the exact Minifigures included and a remake of that dinky boat which looks nearly as bad as the original one. Only the above-lake section has been added, which is great, but to properly convey the scene this needed at least Fleur's sister, who is part of the whole scene that unfolds for Harry. After the 2019 GoF wave did so well including all the champions, it's a shame not to get them all in their Second Task costumes here. Yes that'd mean four more figures (two champions and the people they are saving) and space for them, but I'd pay for it. It's not like they're going to do this scene again any time soon. -
Do they? All the ones I have read / listened to say "it's a big technical achievement that looks great", and everything else like the actual story (which no one including marketing material is talking about) and characters are middling, just like the first. I've read mixed takes on how interesting the design of things is too, from some saying it looks breathtaking and others saying the underwater world is exciting looking as a screensaver. Now, I also thought the first film was boring as all get out on every level and it went on to be the biggest film of all time, so this one might blow through the roof too. That said, I don't see heaps of kids sitting through a 3 hour 10 minute film to the point that it'll really support massive toy sales even if it does do fantastically well for itself theatrically. Did any big merchandising come out of the first one?

My first Pick a Brick order came! I placed this about a month ago, which isn't too bad timewise for Australia. I'm glad I spent the time looking up some picture-less parts, and found that the book-exclusive Percy Weasley hair and orange airtanks were available. -
As with each new release of these not quite enough cool stuff to justify the stupidly high price of BAM in Australia's LEGO Certified Stores. I like the bulldog recolour and it's nice to see the rabbit get recoloured, but blue is pretty useless. Couldn't they have done a brown or nougat or... literally any realistic colour they haven't done?

Out of the examples you have listed, only Sandy fits the so-called theory because it's the same exact property with the same other characters (unless he has changed sizes in the show too). The one big fig Green Goblin was based on a particular Ultimate Spiderman appearance that hasn't been made again, while minifig versions are based on normal human-sized appearances of the character. Hulk has appeared as a minifig only in polybags (at the same time and prior to bigfig appearances), for the Spidey & Friends show, and for mechs - not in any MCU-based sets where he's obviously huge and beefy compared to the humans. Thanos did appear as a minifig in one MCU set at the same time as appearing as a bigfig, mainly due to coming in a miniature version of his gigantic ship. Since then, he has been a minifig in a mech set, which all don't play by any proportional rules. So the theory doesn't hold much water other than the fact that LEGO hasn't put one in a set released "recently", but that doesn't signify a trend. After the first You Story sets and no appearances of long arms and legs, we all thought those were gone for good. They weren't, and that was with a much longer gap. Plus, people with good access to info have said bigfigs aren't going away. LEGO never announced this. One or two designers explained, after sustained fan questions about it, that the mould had been destroyed because it hadn't been fit for long term use (which is still no reason why they haven't remade it though, since they have designed plenty of entirely new animal moulds since then).

I am also wondering why that Friends set is priced so comparatively high relative to what it is, when so many of the Friends sets are very decent value. The store does look like it's an improvement on this City one on the inside, with more sensible placement of items and proper fridges using the new cabinet piece. The sliding door mechanism also looks fun. Still, I'm not keen to run out and buy it at full price of A$140 myself, and even if some stores here sell it for 10-15% off that right away as they usually do, I'd be waiting for a larger discount before I'd buy it to review personally.

Arc trooper helmet says hello. That being said, they do seem ever so slightly attuned to sort of giving people different clones at the moment, so hopefully they will do Bly. The rangefinder in the predictably wrong spot looks pretty awful. It won't look right when folded down for its actual use as a rangefinder either. The clones that use the visor attachments look fine, so I will probably get one copy of the set, but the officer helmet is bad. -

I think Lemerbrix is talking about the previous 501st set being on Walmart clearance, for plain 501st figures. It has been on clearance, or at least discount. This one could go on clearance too, you never know. If LEGO supplies as much to the US as they tend to, and keep it on shelves for a year or more, the average consumer will have gotten it and there will be plenty left. Here in Australia I guarantee it will be on shelves for less than a month and then never again, just like the previous 501st set and Mace's non-canon purple Clone tank. -

Very keen to know what's going on with the helmet for the Officer. In the images the rangefinder is attached where the old helmet bumps on the side are, and not at the new holes above that. However, LEGO's clone helmet product images have been wrong before, like with the 212th. Overall, it's cute. Still odd they went with more 501st instead of something else, but I might pick up one to work into my display. -
