But couldn't "Light" technically be all Toa? Light has been used as a symbol for hope in the past, so it could be a sign for anything that could bring hope. However, if the Toa go through that gate to get to Karzahni's realm this year, then you're totally right.

They are most likely given new masks and equipment by the Matoran of Mahri Nui. The Matoran have built crafts to explore the deep, it seems logical that they should be able to make stuff ofr the Inika. And how do they explore the reigon for finding air? They must have some sort of breathing apparatus.
