Heroica RPG - Cruel Angel's Thesis ~ Day Two
Waterbrick Down replied to Sandy's topic in The Heroica Archive
{So question here, my dear halfling, I seem to be missing something. If spells are twice as effective against us heroes and you took a hit from a light spell and a handcannon how are you still standing? Unless someone was protecting you from behind the scenes, I would have thought such strikes would have wiped you out.}- 510 replies

{Let's make sure we're not jumping the gun though, if Piro is also a light wielding mage, how do we know he wasn't the one who attacked you yesterday?"- 510 replies

{But it does make a difference my most excellent halfling. The pantless mage was killed by a lightning spell in conjunction with a hand cannon. I'd be willing to lay coin down that both attacks were from Nephilim targeting a low level experienced hero. A light spell and a hand cannon were also used against you, both were also probably from the Nephilim preparing to dispatch you during the evening. The ice spell directed at the Naga was probably from a misguided Hero. Thus we are seeking out a mage wielding a light spell or a lightning spell. Since the gnome is using an ice spell, it is highly unlikely that she is a Nephilim thus narrowing down our suspicions.}- 510 replies

{Considering that Calico it does not appear that Calico was attacked with an ice spell, I feel this would clear those mages using ice magic from suspicion, considering that she is probably one of the easier targets. There for we should be looking for a mage that uses either lightning or light magic.}- 510 replies

{Valid point, it does seem like the Nephilim are choosing the easy route. Perhaps those with shielding abilities should be protecting those that are weaker?} Werther turned back to U'dargan, {I'm in agreement that it seems fishy for two people to trust you and rather convenient for someone of your stature and experience to have such a pair of equipment. If you are truely a member of Heroica, then the Nephilim will indeed have a difficult time removing you, however if you are part of the Nephilim those gloves almost ensure that it will be very difficult for us to remove you from our midst.}- 510 replies

{Considering that we all started with 10 gold, either someone trusted you with their gold, or you took part in the attack against Heron along with some other individuals since I can't see you taking someone out all on your own. I can't see someone trusting you yet as you didn't contribute much yesterday and the chances of you attacking the same target as someone else by mere chance seems less likely than being part of a targeted scum strike.}- 510 replies

The mute assassin steps in, signing to the wereoctopus, {Not all of us are detectives, my dear. Some of us are more used to battle and using our brawn over our brains.} Waving his hands wildly Werther signaled to the rest of the group. {If we are certain that one of the magic users is part of the Nephilim, is it worth the risk of eliminating those all of them in hopes of finding whoever it might be? Alternatively if all of the magic users attacks can be accounted for last night or even yesterday can we not discover the one who joined in league to take down a known member of Heroica?}- 510 replies

{Mind you that this is still contingent on everyone agreeing to not attack anyone during the night. It should be noted that this also severely decreases the chance of someone lashing out at a possible Nephilim who doesn't want to attract attention to themselves.}- 630 replies

{Not if we agree to not use spells or ranged attacks during the day without claiming to do so. That way if we see a ranged attack and everybody has agreed to either state their actions in the open, or say they will do nothing, we can pinpoint the attack on those who didn't do either. To take the example to an extreme if everyone states that they will not do anything except for one person and we then see a ranged attack, that ranged attack can be attributed to that one person.}- 630 replies

{We have two options before us, either we each to his own devices and we let the matter settle itself that way, or we take the long and strenuous route slowly inching along checking individuals one at time with no clue as to whether or not our own results might be manipulated or hindered in some way. Perhaps we should make it mandatory that no one resorts to ranged attacks or spells during the day and that everyone must state their plan of action even if it is to simply do nothing. Anyone not going along with this plan will be attacked the following day. This will at least help to deter any of the Nephilim from attacking during the day.}- 630 replies

Werther stands to the side as the Naga springs past, {As an observation, Nord, you have made many verbal attacks against the Gremlin today and have yet to follow up with any serious action. Yet when the Monk strikes because he has felt as agitated as you did, you object?}- 630 replies

On the other hand, if you'd rather something more off the beaten path, the Mercutio's Smile circus troupe will be traveling in the High Kingdoms during that time of year and may need some protection from both men and orcs alike while on tour in the area. (Also pending Sandy's approval)

Werther steps into the middle of the conversing group and begins to sign, {While I am for this plan involving the magnifying glass, what is to keep any spell slingers or archers among the Nephilim from taking down whomever holds the glass in the middle of the day or even during the night and then stealing it from us heroes?}- 630 replies

The mute assassin answered hastily, his undead limbs moving jerkily but intentionally. {Ah, we haven't had a chance to quest together as of yet my good lady? It's Werther. OoC: No Skrall never had a diamond, I was just RPing his forgetfulness. Also note that the enemies should be hexed for this round.
