The troupe finally arrives as the sun begins its descent. "Halt right there, what's your business?" "Merely traveling entertainers looking for a place to shelter from the wilderness." "Entertainers eh? How does a free performance in exchange for a place to bivouac for the night sound?" "Splendid indeed, we'd be happy to oblige." "Right then come on in, I'll need to be holding onto those weapons I can see some of yer group is carrying though." "Ah yes, um... let me confer with my companions." Boris turned to the heroes and asked with a whisper. "Now what?"
  2. "We should have enough with us and Boris's tricks should helps us out." "Yes, yes. As far as weapons, I think we can fend for ourselves, Glup's been swallowing swords for years, Mirona could bash your skull in if she wanted to with her bare hands, Nelvin generally doesn't have any issues due to his "condition", and me, well they can't hit what they can't recognize."
  3. "Indeed, but do we know how we are going about the deed?"
  4. "Afraid not. Now which one was it? Am I going in alone, or are we all going in?"
  5. "I owe someone a favor and this has always been part of the job. I explained to you why we had to keep it quiet though. Now, you'd best all figure out what we're going to do soon, we can't stay out here all day waiting to be found by a Nord hunting party."
  6. "Take care sir, if you wish to insult the lady, do it so the whole group can hear you." "Wouldn't be too much of a problem, though they'd probably be wondering why a high ranking chief is out and about by himself.
  7. Skrall sat down at the bar of Heroica Hall and grabbed a pen and paper. To Scheherazade, As another Grogmas comes upon us, I can't help but look back and reflect on all of the journeys and kindnesses this hall has bestowed upon me. It has in some ways helped to fill the hole my past life and family left. Whether or not you're able to celebrate with your own son this Grogmas, know that the impact you have had upon your Heroica "family" is appreciated more than you could know. Please take this gift for your dedication and as a token of the fondness for you from those of us who know that this hall could never function without you. May you never give your heart or affections to any against your will. ~Skrall the Ogre Skrall slipped the Heart Locket into the envelope, sealed the letter, and left it addressed to Scheherazade on the counter.
  8. Skrall wandered through the market place picking through the wares. He didn't know what exactly he was looking for, he just felt like he needed to find something. Stopping in at Fabian's the ogre carefully picked up a Heart Locket. The sun's rays reflecting off the trinket in a dazzling cascade of colors. Skrall put down 40 Gold for the jewelry before stowing the piece in his satchel.
  9. "The Nord's stick to themselves, they aren't ones for going into town. I'd bet they've got their own personal supply of mead in their storehouse."
  10. "Ah the dear lady has both beauty and brains." "She's out of your league Nelvin, stick to ghouls and zombies."
  11. "I think an extra 150 Gold could be mustered up for you all, but I would have thought restoring a king to his family and country would have been reason enough for heroes..." "Well, if it were just myself and my companions, we'd probably wait for night fall and try and sneak our way in, as you've already seen I have a few tricks of my own." The U'kin's face shimmered before changing its form again. "Now, seeing as how we may have some more muscle on our side, a more straightforward strategy may be viable." Borris pulled out a rough sketch of what appeared to be a fort. "The outpost has a garrison of about 15 men. There's an entrance to the sea in the rear and watch towers at each of the corners. The interior courtyard is occupied by 3 buildings, the barracks (C ), a storehouse (B), and a small auxiliary building (A) where we think Grishnod is being held captive. We aren't master tacticians and honestly, we thought you might be able to provide a better strategy than what we could come up with."
  12. "We could try breaking Grishnod out on our own, but like I said we are mere circus performers not warriors. There has been some discussion between the kingdoms and the Nords about letting the orc go in order to secure Valentino's release, but from my understanding, the Nords' terms have been too great. They've got nothing to lose in this whole affair, they see no reason to be reasonable. Currently they are not aware of our presence and I'd like to keep it that way, if our actions were traced back to either of the kingdoms it would shatter the already shaky treaty. "
  13. Sandy, the Grogmas event and the updated Embassy entries are marvelous.
  14. "It's... complicated. As I said there's a lot of tensions amid eveyone on the two continents currently. King Valentino, he was captured by ol' Grishnod's clan, not but a month or so later Grishnod gets snatched by the Fire Nords. The Fire Nords aren't much for barginning either it seems, or at least not reasonably and the peace between them and the Four Boulders kingdom is fragile enough. Thus I think you can see why we didn't want to exactly advertise our breaking Grishnod out from the Fire Nords in order to arrange a prisoner swap in Baltarok for Valentino. No lying, we still need you to provide an escort for us, we're just going to make a brief detour in Fire Nord country first. Discuss it between yourselves, we'll still be paying, but we want yer assurance you'll all in, one wrong move on our part and we could end up startimg another bloody war."
  15. "He is being rather "detained" you might say by the Fire Nords. They're not big fans of letting orcish warlords wander around their camps."
  16. "Oh, here I'm sure one of these will be handy then." Borris, pulled a map out and spread it before the heroes. "As some of you may be aware, your organization was founded after the defeat of Tarokai and his orcish armies who had invaded the High and Low Kingdoms about 250 years back. The orcs were routed and those that escaped were pushed back to their homeland of Baltarok, a shattered and disbanded people. Around that time the two main factions of the High Kingdom were formed, that of the Red Lizard and the Four Boulders. Things have been relatively peaceful until most recently. The High Kingdoms have began the construction of a great bridge to span the Navaosh river connecting the kingdoms to Baltarok. As with any great undertakings there's been all the usual rumors and gossip going around. Some claim it's a step towards greater economic prosperity and peace between the two countries, others think it's just an open invitation for invasion from either side. Either way, tensions have been building on both sides of the river and to make matters worse, King Valentino of the Red Lizards was recently taken prisoner by one of the orcish clans who it seems aren't very open to bargaining. On top of all that, there's the ever present threat of Fire Nord raids all along the coast, though I believe they recently entered into some sort of treaty with the Kingdom of the Four Boulders. That's where we're at currently." Borris pointed to a point to a point on the coast just east of the Four Boulders icon. "Any who, we're about a day's walk or so from one of those Nord outposts. We're on our way to... you might say, 'pick up' Grishnod Ironnose, the diplomat I mentioned, from his stay with the Fire Nords."
  17. "Ah well, I get bored easily. Yes I am indeed Borris the Brilliant, illusionist and ringleader of our merry little group. I guess to fill you all in we're actually going to be skipping Nerstew and heading west. My troupe and I have been hired to accompany a visiting diplomat to Baltarok and we thought we could use a little help from some experienced adventures to get us there safely."
  18. The U'kin winked. "Was it that obvious?"
  19. "Can I get some help here?" "Just one sec' Mirona." The Norn moves behind the wagon to assist with unloading a trunk. Moments later a U'Kin comes round the other side. "Now where were we?"

  22. The Nord extends a yellow hand in return. "Oh, I'm sure he'll be along shortly. And the rest of you are?"
  23. "Yes, I know Borris very well. So you're the lot from Heroica then? I trust Atticus arranged good transportation for you all?"
  24. "Ah, we are but four humble circus performers." The grumpkin jumps off the wagon and lights a cigar. "Glup, resident daredevil and doer of all things dangerous." The skeletal figure stands and gives a slight bow. "Nelvin Swifttoes, elven acrobat and contortionist extraordinaire." The minotaur snorts amusingly, "Used to be, at least." "Don't mind, Mirona, she may be a rough and tough strong-woman on the outside but she's got a heart of lead. I think that's all of us in the Mercutio's Smile. And if you're not Nord raiders, who might you be?"
  25. "I say, and what pray tell would such a well equipped group such as yourselves be doing sauntering along a Nord infested coastline? Perhaps you're actually part of a raiding party yourself?" The minotaur unloaded another crate before chiding the pale figure. "Sem above, Nelvin, how many times have I told you to not go poking your nose where it don't belong? Not everybody's a threat to us." "Now Mirona, you know as well as I he doesn't mean any trouble by it."
