  1. Skrall focused his fire on Do from the back row.
  2. Boris's grip tightened on his mug, he'd been careful not to get agitated these past few days. "Ennoc, bub and I'd appreciate your not calling me that again."
  3. "Bruhalv, Boris Bruhalv and none of this mister stuff. From town or new to the port?"
  4. "Well your going to need to keep yourselves patched up, so a cleric would probably come in handy. A mage or barbarian's always good to have around for crowd control. I'd suppose a knight would be useful when it comes to fending off particularly nasty beasties." The vampire downs his mug. "I've got some free time on my hands and I haven't been down that way in a while, so you can count me in." Boris signs his name to the Unlimited Quest. "As for filling out the rest of the group..." Boris surveyed the hall.
  5. "Don't die. Pretty simple, if I know Mack he'll probably have bitten off more than he could chew. Would surprise me if he had problems big enough to eat you and your friend here whole. Still, if you need a guide..."
  6. "Sounds like Mack alright, never could stick to just simple goats and cows. Yes, chickens to be specific." Boris munched down on a biscuit at the bar. "Thinking about going over there?"
  7. It's a high damage output class in respect to other classes around it. Even at level 40 the closest class to do more damage consistently is the Barbarian Chieftain and that becomes outclassed as the Dragoon hits higher levels (assuming equal level and equal WP let's say 20, at level 40 it comes out to 100 Damage to all enemies, vs. 120 Damage to 3 enemies). Dragon's Aid isn't really trash either when compared to things like AIM, STEAL, or MEDITATE that the other classes have. Let's also not forget about SP, being able to wield shields gives a big advantage as far as surviving a fight when compared to non shield-bearing classes. Yes, they're not a reliable tank, but I don't think they're designed for that role in the first place, their SP design is more based on the Black Knight (Special Dodge/Hide) than other Knight based classes. Concerning your point about differentiation, some classes are more suited for it than others, any Mage based class is going to have more options available to it from the get go, because they can choose between focusing on Scrolls, Elemental Damage, or a special combination of artifacts and specialty weapons. If you look at a simpler class like Hunter or Raider, you're not going to see as much variation mechanically at one point you could have swapped Hunter Skrall, Hunter Benji, and Hunter Xander and mechanically not seen much difference. It comes with the territory. It also should be noted that some of the variability within classes has to do with available artifacts. Aside from 1 drop thus far, there hasn't been a single item that is specifically for Dragoon's in order to allow for more variability. I understand you enjoy creating different builds for different classes, I'm just not sure though what role/roles you're envisioning Dragoon's fill.
  8. "65 Seconds..." Boris takes another drink, "I was called out there a few months back, something about performing an exorcism on some poultry. He in some sort of trouble again?"
  9. Boris gazed at the screaming elf rolling about on the floor. He considered a brief excorism for a moment, but before he could move the elf stood upright and grew quiet. Boris shrugged and swigged down his ale before turning to Karl and Keliim. "What's this about a field? You mean old Farmer Mack Donauld?"
  10. I'd argue a Dragoon combat role is a high damage output melee class with a good deal of survivability worked in. It's slightly less powerful when compared to say the Barbarian Chieftain as far as damage output, but it has SP and High Assault in it's favor and in the long run comes out more powerful than a ton of classes. I'd stress again the class is a long term investment, even beyond the initial gaining access to it, you sacrifice utility in the beginning for being a powerhouse in the end.
  11. Boris nudges Matthias, "How long you reckon he'll be standing down there with his mouth agape?"
  12. Feel free to roleplay in the hall all you want. You'll have to wait for a quest to be posted though to actually start adventuring. Read over a few of the most recent pages of the Hall topic to find out who is currently present. Additionally there's always the Marketplace for buying more equipment, the Arena for challenging other players to PvP combat, the Library for more info on the world of Heroica, the Embassy for info on the races that inhabit Heroica, and the Treasury for some of the more interesting items that have come up in quests.Welcome to Heroica RPG
  13. I think one thing to note about the Dragoon class is that it is a long term class, Dragoon doesn't really get good till level 40 or 50. By level 60 a Dragoon's Shield roll does one of the highest damage attacks among all the classes. They aren't necessarily meant to fill a certain roll, yes they can use shields, but that doesn't make them good tanks. Yes they can wield super cool weapons, but that doesn't make them good status inflictors. Dragoons are survivors and high damage output machines and have a dragon, if you're looking to fulfill another roll than you probably need to look at another class. I agree more observation would be good, but I haven't seen anything to really persuade me that the class needs changes.
  14. "Can do." Skrall unloaded two more shots at each of the archers from the back row.
  15. Skrall fires at the Azure Tao Warrior Feong from the back row twice, if he manages to kill the warrior he fires off at Azure Guard Akavi from the back row.
  16. "Regulus, I'm up for fightin' not drinkin'." Skrall fires off a shot from his Hunter's Crossbow at Azure Tao Warrior Elu from the back row followed by a second shot if he killed the guard at Azure Tao Warrior Feong.
  17. Skrall downed a Mead and a Smelling Salt before giving 2 Phoenix Incenses to each of his fellow party members. Finally the ogre removed his medal and slipped on the pair of overkill gloves.
  18. "I'm with Regulus, what's to keep the whole country to plummet into chaos, or neighboring countries from invading during stability? I'm all for freedom from tyranny and oppression, but at what cost?"
  19. Boris walks over to the snoozing Grimwald, "Hmm... 35 seconds, I'd give it." The vampire pats the gnome on the back. "You all right there bub?"
  20. Question for those on 116, was the general quest PM helpful or annoying?
  21. This would be more appropriate perhaps for the theater, but if you ever find yourself unsatisfied with your character, that often means you've depleted their fair share of tropes, i.e. qualities or aspects of your character background that are cool as conversation pieces and highlights, but once you've used them up your character is left high and dry and sometimes boring both to read and to play. When you get to that point, one thing I like to do is take a step back and consider everything my character is going after. Characters with goals often last much longer than characters with tropes. Characters with goals have something to strive after from quest to quest, characters with tropes have situations and experiences to spotlight their weird/unique attributes but they often have to wait for those situations/experiences to come up or they have to try and create them themselves (see forced roleplaying). Reflect on your character, what drives him? Knowledge, prestige, wealth, power, balance in nature, destruction, creation, discovery, liberation, nobility/honor, order, chaos, play, service, liberation, enslavement, torment, guilt, understanding, benevolence? Figure out what makes your character get out of bed in the morning or keeps them up at night. Granted Heroica RPG isn't a free form world, so some goals, i.e. the destruction of the Dastanese empire might be a little difficult to achieve in the game, so always keep that in mind but don't be afraid to tackle something really big, granted it might take you a long time and require a lot of support and input from QM's and other players. Suffice it to say, when you've got that goal, then you'll find the reason to keep playing as your character because your character will now have a reason to keep living.
  22. "Onward."
  23. Boris looks over at the snoozing gnome. "Friend of yours?"
  24. Agreed, I think it'd be good to see Comrodary, Companionship, and Nimble added to the positive effects list.
  25. "Aren't they all, down there." Boris gives a wink and a chuckle, before draining his mug of cider. "So Matti, what keeps you busy in between quests?"
