  1. I agree seems like a good conversion and an appropriate gauge of involvement.
  2. Boris shouldered his equipment. "Misguided bunch. We all set to get out of here?"
  3. I operate by a prior art system, if it already exists and was dropped by one of the more experienced QM's I'll tend to let it fly without a check, but if it's a new effect on a weapon or mechanic or consumable, I'll tend to run them by Sandy first. I think Zepher's brought this up before, but it can be an awesome thing if QM's reuse items from previous quests. Not a lot, but two or three of a good item never really hurts.
  4. Boris accepted Keliim's help out of the sewage. "I'd hope we're getting better. Let's take a look" Boris rooted through the belongings of the fallen soldiers. Pocketing the Phoenix Essence and 15 Gold for himself he inspected the armor, "There's an amethyst in here if someone were willing to pay to get it removed. I'd say you and Karl could split the rest of the stuff between yourselves." The vampire looked over at the rogue. "Quiet, isn't he? You'd think he'd never had to deal with fanatics before."
  5. With class construction consider three things: What makes the class appealing to other players? (similar to designing loot, one shouldn't design something for one's own benefit) How will the class be distinct in battle mechanics? (i.e. what does it have to offer that other classes don't) How will the class be distinct in style? (i.e. what would help/prevent a player from just adding flavor to another already established class)
  6. Boris's final swing carried him crashing into the corpse of the soldier that Keliim had just succinctly eliminated. Emerging from the the water, the cleric wiped a blood stain from his chin before addressing his companions. "Well, that wasn't so bad."
  7. Perhaps Duelist, Slayer, Warlord, Marshal, Brawler, Bruiser? All I can think of with Gladiator is ancient Rome.
  8. I concur with Flipz about the effects, all it will take is one person to imbue a bunch of scrolls into an artifact and they won't have to worry about the downsides of the weapons they're using. Also do we think Gladiator would fit, stylistically? I like the theme but it doesn't really seem to fit with Heroica RPG, any ideas?
  9. Boris took another swipe at the soldier from the front row. "Definitely getting annoying."
  10. I'd say the second is the better of the two as it involves less dice rolling. A few additional thoughts: Job Traits: Fame: Use Diplomacy or Intimidate, we've already have job traits for this effect. Glory: Good, but maybe Money-maker would be sufficient to avoid a brand new trait. Challenger: New mechanics (i.e. Gladiating) are generally dictated in a trait (see Spellcasting, Battle Songs, Oaths, etc.) So maybe a description like: A Gladiator's skills are affected by which weapons they are currently using. Rolls: Furious Hit: I'm not the biggest fan of the roll since it limits the strategy of the class since you're locked in to a target until it goes down, but I can see it helping to balance the class out. Taunt: Enraged generally isn't a big deal for enemies as they almost always are considered to be fighting from the front row. Perhaps Dirty Fighting from Infiltrator or maybe Counter? Gladiating: Concerning the different pairs of effects, I'd also include some way for the current effects imbued by the weapons to over-ride the immunities of artifacts (slowed for example is really easy to cure and I don't think a pair of Winged Sandals is enough to offset the balance of permanent encouraged). Now onto ideas for pairs: Encouraged & Slowed: Good Hastened & Easier to miss: Why not just use Jinxed? Nimble & Weakened: Good Lucky & Fragile: Good Reinforced & ?: This is really the only positive effect left aside from Inspired which would be a little too good (can serve as an auto heal), I can't really see people choosing Reinforced over Nimble so perhaps it's counter effect shouldn't be too bad.
  11. "Any last words?" Boris swung at the leader from the front row.
  12. That's actually a concept (demons ripping through to the physical plane with every expenditure of magic) prevalent in quite a few fantasy RPGs.
  13. Different effect such as Hastened, Encouraged, Lucky, etc?
  14. So what role would the investigator play? Seems like an enemy debuffer, in which case it'll have to compete against Scholar and Minstrel. Boasts get outranked by Minstrel and Scholar pretty easily. Without a way to flee, stealing valuables from an enemy wouldn't make sense since the party will get them at the end of the battle anyways. Concerning Observvation, Lucky Chant applies the Lucky affect to the whole Party at the same ether cost. Could you expand on your 4th idea?
  15. "You know, you're really starting to tick me off." Boris tactfully retreated and attempted to heal himself from the back row. As the angel's bright flash of light illuminated the tunnel the vampire shielded his eyes. "Karl, keep the leader busy from the back. Let Keliim try splitting that bowman in two."
  16. Boris picked himself out of the filth, gritting his teeth he lunged at the Soldier again from the front row. "Righteous light my megablocks."
  17. Boris did not respond to the witch's parting words, it would seem not even his own feelings were his own alone. Sloshing through the waste and filth of the sewers the cleric focused on some of the more encouraging passages from the holy books but was quickly interrupted by the approaching armed men. "Seems like everyone's always saying that. Trust me bub it's easier said than done." Hefting his mace, the vampire brought the heavy weighted weapon down in an arcing swing on the Soldier's helm from the front row.
  18. Boris stared at the witch at the mention of his past, anger slowly stirring in him. The vampire remembered waking up with the emptiness, the loneliness, the absence of his companion. He did not know why Ennoc would test his devotion in such a way, but he had striven to live with acceptance. "I don't need him anymore." Boris curtly answered before expending another ether to patch up his sore side from his last battle. "If it is not Paladins, then I am sure we'll have no issue dealing with them. I'm ready, Karl?"
  19. Boris had been sure they were meeting with the Wolfgang, this was indeed an interesting development. He didn't mind being insulted by the witch, whatever powers she was serving probably had the firepower to back it up, diplomacy was more than likely the best tactic for the time being. "If not Wolfgang, then who? Can't imagine anyone else would want to be down here for long."
  20. The ogre hears his name and spots a blade and a face he hadn't seen in a long time, ordering another tankard of ale Skrall makes his way over to Tesni's table. "Hail Tesni, been nearly an age and a half since I saw your grimace in this hall, figured you had left to go become chieftain to a tribe of warrior giants or something grand like that. You're looking well, all your limbs still attached, that's a good thing."
  21. Boris returned Chauncey's stare, glare for glare. "If Elba and U'ors are fine with it, I don't see why not. I'm in, what about you chaps?"
  22. Boris nodded before inquiring of Elba and U'ors, "Friend of yours I assume?
  23. Well hexed enemies will attack themselves if there are no more remaining enemies, so theoretically it's possible, but you'd probably kill yourself from the damage of the original hit since there is such a large disparity between hero and enemy damage scales.
  24. Sorry to see you go Flare. Come back when you can, good luck in your next ventures.
  25. Planning a vindictive quest
