  1. Not sure if this is the correct place to post or whether it's been posted before, but I'm looking to light up my roller coaster... Just on the initial incline. I'd like a set of chaser lights running ideally. I know there's the likes of LifeLites etc, but I can't find anyone that does chaser lights. Any recommendations? Apologies again if this isn't the place to discuss this. TIA.
  2. Congratulations, and I do not say that through gritted teeth! It is a great concept well delivered. However, I do have a bee in my bonnet about it being suitable for a Christmas market... Which was what the competition was about. I've seen stalls, games and rides in a German/Christmas Market, but never a model railway. Wouldn't it be a bit dangerous to have a (12v?) model railway exposed to the elements? Anyway, well done for getting second place. Much better than my measly one point!
  3. Well, hopefully, those votes won't get counted! Although surprised at some of the choices for voting (as I feel they don't really capture the spirit of the 'Christmas Market'), I am glad that I have at least one point (more than I thought I'd get!!). My son likes my entry, and that is all that matters to me!
  4. My choices are: 20. Gazumpty - 2 21. Darkblane - 2 53. Cara - 1 There were plenty of entries I thought that were in keeping with the market/fair/fete theme, which made I incredibly difficult to choose. But these were my favourites. Good luck to all entries!!
  5. Looks amazing, but whether it fits into the theme of Winter Village Market, I'm not so sure... Good luck none-the-less
  6. Thanks for all of your comments, but I'm not expecting big things with my entry. Especially when I see the recent submissions. That said, as it's my not only my first entry into one of these competitions, but my first real MOC, I'm happy with what I've made with the time and resources available. I'm always looking to expand my village with MOCs, so may contact some of you to ask if you are willing to share your instructions (if available) - after the results are in of course! There are some great builds entered and can see them fitting in nicely. I love the Market (one of the few, apparently), Have a great Christmas one and all.
  7. Brilliant! Excellent idea... I love it! Good luck!
  8. My inspiration for this was visiting the London Winter Wonderland in Hyde Park. I was originally going to try a traditional Helter Skelter, but as it is my first MOC, I found it tricky, so plumped for something a little simpler... The kids seemed to enjoy it - but then, so did the older 'kids!!! Hand rails... Gotta be safe climbing those steps! Others want to join in on the fun... My turn next!! Thanks for viewing!
  9. Love it!! Well done! p.s. Don't enter the comp... Please! I'm putting the finishing touches to my entry which will hopefully be posted soon - and I want a chance to win!
  10. I live 5 minutes away from HQ, but no jobs suitable for me!
  11. Karting on ice is better! Local Rink did it a couple of years back!
  12. Love it! I agree with the gondolla colo(u)rs and would like to add, that the orange and blue don't really do it for me (not even on the WV Carousel), but love it none the less. Brick on!
  13. Excellent work! Care to share the instructions?
  14. I'm a relative newbie to this site (although a lurker for some time) and I find laughable at the amount of "but it's just not fair" bemoaning here! So what if you had an idea in January and thought you would get ahead of the game? Tough! EB changed the rules!! I find it funny... Maybe you should have waited until the competition was published before putting brick to plate! That said, I do like seeing other people's MOC's and where instructions (and funds!) are available, have built them and incorporated them into my village. I've had an idea for this competition, but unfortunately do not have the time (nor the collection) to build it. If I do have the time, I may do a LDD version... But don't hold your breath . Good luck to all that enter! Remember - it's fun, not serious stuff!
  15. Is there any reason that TLG don't produce more lights? I'd love to light up some of my models using PF, but I find the LEDs a bit harsh (too bright), or not appropriate. It would be helpful if they could produce a range of colours, maybe even flashing LEDs. I'm aware of some third party lights that will connect into LEGO, but there's not much choice with LEGO itself. I find that very disappointing!
  16. My thoughts too. Garish maybe? Otherwise a fantastic MOC of my favourite theme. I'd be interested in the instructions fo rthis to add to my WV collection.
  17. Amazing... Even more so in the flesh! Saw it at Steam at the weekend and was in total awe. Shame my nipper didn't take you up on your offer of a drive... Ah well!
  18. I'm still working on the Mrs after 4 years of collecting the WV... She's digging her heels in, but I WILL overcome!
  19. Got it... Love it! I think, as others have already pointed out, that it fits nicely with the ice rink, tree seller and bandstand perfectly. I'm also incorporating the Autumn (Fall) scene and the Hotdog stand polybags into it I'm already hooking it up to the motor and thinking of modding the central 'spindle' so that I can light it up from inside (not sure how i will do that yet, but looking into it). It'd be nice if the Power Functions had a 'flashing' unit which could be used in this. I think it was worth every penny. This series brought me out of the Dark Ages and I will continue to buy them each year. In the meantime, I'll be adding some MOC's... The only problem I have is where to display!!!
  20. I considered that, Couldn't see how you would do a straight edge, i.e. there are no 'half sizes' that would fill the gap at the ends.
  21. Thanks Kermit. Yes, they are the black stands. I like the idea of putting them under the buildings... this would help with wiring lights into buildings! I never said I didn't want them. I just wanted ideas as to what to do with them!
  22. I have hundreds (literally!)... Any ideas what I can do with them? They're an annoying piece that I feel I should be able to something with... But have no idea! Any help? p.s. I have no idea whether this is the correct forum as there are far too many forums to choose from!
  23. Fantastic!! Love it!! But do I really have to wait until October? I already have plans to motorise it... Then I'll have to look into how I can light it up... Then how I can incorporate it into my existing village... Then change those roofs to all white so it 'makes sense' (as someone else pointed out, the Post Office wasn't covered in snow either). Why oh why do I have to wait until October???
  24. Apologies if this has already been posted... I was in my local Asda the other day and came across packets of Pudsey Bears. I think they were originally retailing around the £6 mark, but they were being sold off at 75p. Whether this is a local deal or a national one, I don't know, but I did grab a handful!!
  25. Hi, My name is Phil (aka 'BrickBloke'). I'm a newbie to the forum, but not a newbie to Lego. However, I recently 're-discovered' Lego after purchasing the Winter Toyshop as a Christmas display - and have subsequently expanded my collection to the whole Village (and beyond!). A few years ago, I decided to let my son inherit my Lego as I didn't play with it... And immediately regretted it! I then bought an Advent Calendar for my desk at work. Once the festivities were over, I gave all the pieces to my son again, to help him build his collection... And again, immediately regretted it!! It wasn't until I was out and about shopping that we came across a Lego store which was selling the Toy Shop at a vastly reduced price, that I finally gave in and bought it. Shortly after, the Post Office came out and I bought to go alongside the Toy Shop. Since then, I have bought and expanded the village, adding a couple of MOC's (not actually mine, but other people's creations), altered the Medieval Market place and bought the Emerald Night to add a bit of action to the village. Every year I now eagerly await the next Winter set. It can never come soon enough. In the meantime, I'm experimenting trying to to build a few MOC's myself, but my problem is that I am unable to build what is in my head... I'm not that artistic!!! Anyway, that's all... That's me! Regards, Phil.
