  1. Archiving, of course. You wouldn't want a good MOC that someone built years ago being wiped off the face of the Internet just because people lost interest. Records exist in part to be rediscovered, and believe me, some of the oldest AFOL MOCs on the Net were damn good for their time.
  2. Care to expand? I can't help but feel that you're being too absolute in defining the 'Jedi' and 'Sith' archetypes, or perhaps doing it too arbitrarily.
  3. It looks to be the tomb of the Chinese emperor in LEGO - unexpected, and no doubt impressive.
  4. Exogorth. I think that, more than the size of the cockpit, the bigger issue is the angle at which it is positioned relative to the ship – it juts out too much. If you look at Flail’s 4504 mod you’ll see that the cockpit looks fine in spite of being too large. 7190, 10179, and 7778 have it in the right place, though only the latter two have it about the right size relative to the rest of the ship. Miss Kyle, you wear your hair short? Remember that a few months back people didn’t remember this scene. Thanks, Kiel.
  5. Great job, Oky! I think I like this Dooku panel more than the other one.
  6. Man, now I wish I'd finished mine. Eh, I've got another two weeks...
  7. Saved me a post. I actually did post a (hard-to-find) top view of the 5ft Falcon model on this forum last week in Hollander's Tantive IV thread; I do wish Kiel had used that... if reviewers need proper reference I've found plenty, obviously you don't have the luxury of having time to scour the Net for pics so don't hesitate to shoot me a PM. As for the set itself, I don't get how it's as beautiful as Aanchir everyone is saying but the variety of play features and solid base make up for any deficiencies in aesthetics. For a toy Falcon, this set is great; for a LEGO Falcon in general, eh... this one is much better (though it's been far surpassed in recent years by Pepa's).
  8. Having been a big Pokemon enthusiast at one time I must say your LEGO Blastoise is quite impressive! Capturing the look of a rounded anime creature in a blocky medium certainly isn't easy, but you've nailed it. Of course, there exist so many variations of the creature that I can't say much for accuracy, but it's very recognizable. As for what to build next, there are only a handful of Pokemon that would translate well into LEGO, one of them being - and I'm surprised no one has mentioned it - Porygon! You could probably get by with a red-and-blue rendition. Other possibilities include Starmie, Kabutops, or Golem...
  9. You understood correctly. Some days I'll have a "1" or a "2" next to my profile picture since someone has a PM saved, then I'll report some random spammer and when I click out of the text box back to the forum the "1" or "2" won’t be there anymore.
  10. I apologize for the double post, but I've noticed that after I report a member the aforementioned numbers disappear even though the saved PMs haven't been sent yet. Would anyone care to explain?
  11. That's the very same one. It's even more impressive than I remember it!
  12. The horror! The horror! Did you at least get the connection with the quote in my signature?
  13. A couple years back, I came across a site on which someone had depicted the entire Original Trilogy in LEGO form via a number of brickbuilt scenes for each film. I believe the project was completed well before The LEGO Group obtained the license, featuring stormtroopers in racer helmets and Artoo with robot arms for legs. Vader I remember wore a black Castle helmet. There were other things, such as an enormous and multicolored brickbuilt Falcon and some very blocky TIE fighters. Does anyone here know what I'm talking about?
  14. I was expecting something akin to this, but this is also very nice. Clever choice of parts, as usual.
  15. Can mine be 6079? Thanks.
  16. Hadn't we already established (in the PM conversation with our fellow Starwarsian BasOne) that TIE cockpits were quite spacious? I believe that was sometime near the beginning of August, well before you presented your x1...
  17. Instead of moving all related posts from "Hello! My name is..." to this thread, why don't we move this thread to the "Hello! My name is..." subforum?
  18. Well, of course - when working with LEGO it's generally more reasonable to build to a part rather than to any specific scale (one reason I presume why, aside from the podracers, none of Anio's UCS creations are to scale with each other). EDIT: Wait, what did I just write? The viewports on both of Brickdoctor's creations are the same size, meaning they are to scale with each other.
  19. It's smaller than minifigure scale. It's not to scale with his TIE x1, though. The viewport piece used in the construction of the TIE/sa studio model was taken from a 1/36 ERTL TIE x1 kit (the same one the panels were taken from) while the original x1 studio model was 1/24. Since Brickdoctor paid homage to the model makers' decision by using the same transparent 4-wide dish, the same discrepancy in scale should exist. What this means is that since Brickdoctor's TIE x1 was already much smaller than minifigure scale, the fact that a minifigure is sitting in this is hilarious. EDIT: No, it shouldn't. The idea of a minifigure in this is still funny, though. But there exist conflicting versions. For example, the original TIE/d from STAR WARS: TIE Fighter sported panels which were symmetrical along the horizontal axis, while subsequent renditions (such as this one) sported panels more reminiscent of the TIE/In. Some versions of the TIE/d also sport more polygonal cockpit balls, as opposed to renders like this one or this one which sport more spherical cockpit balls. The same uncertainty exists for any other Expanded Universe TIE craft, which I presume is why Brickdoctor considers those sources below his standards.
  20. Wait, what? Surely you meant walking?
  21. The Rule of Two is technically C-canon, so I'm assuming it will be retconned by this series. And in any case, I thought Dooku's adoption of Ventress and Grievous in the original Clone Wars multimedia project predated the 'real' creation of the Rule of Two. Can anyone clarify this?
