  1. Not necessarily. Licensed sets are part of what inspire AFOLs to make MOCs, because we know it can be done better. For example: Without parts from licensed sets, MOCs like this, this, or this would not have been possible.
  2. They were (apparently) at the Battle of Coruscant. They were also with Palpatine's shuttle at the end of ROTS. ? Why are you still here?
  3. Forgive me if I'm acting out of my place, but this picture has been around for over six months now, and the full contents are shown on Amazon.
  4. The Invisible Hand? Or the Belbullab-22? Only the models from the calendar are going to be built, so neither will be seen.
  5. Ah. I never thought to look there. In that case, that's definitely a clone scout trooper in 7261. There were V-wings, but the pilots themselves weren't visible.
  6. The white lines are very thin and act more to outline various structures, so I personally wouldn't have included that much when it isn't also present along the outermost edges of where the turret mounts would be on a CR90. But I can see the reasoning behind it.
  7. Very nice MIDI Radiant VII; you've handled the proportions well at this small size, and I love that SNOTed prow. The only major suggestion I would make would be to have less white around where the escape pods are located. You've got quite the eye for detail to have noticed the tiny orange bit that doesn't even show up in most pictures I've seen. So you'll be building larger versions of all the MINIs, then? I'll be looking forward to your Falcon and Y-wing, not to mention the X-wing...
  8. AT-RT drivers were seen on Kashyyyk. But you're probably right. Since The LEGO Group included a BARC with its AT-RT, I always figured they swapped the two and that it was supposed to be an AT-RT driver on the BARC speeder...
  9. This spam has been reported. EDIT: My apologies to the Mods. I'd like to make this post count, so I hope Hollander won't mind me asking how the bits on the side would be illegally attached if this model were built with real bricks. EDIT2: Sorry, plamen1466. But in the future, I encourage you to say a little more in your post so the original poster can really get a feel for what you think.
  10. Seeing the new MOCs in the banner, I can't help but think that Hollander's A-wing looks rather odd without a pilot in that shot.
  11. I think the fact that staff encourages clear English plays a part as well. On about nine out of ten Internet forums I've come across the threads look like the people posting in them either had busted keyboards or selective dyslexia. This may also be part of the reason why discussions on Eurobricks can go on longer and become more interesting - if everyone were to post in textspeak, for example, the implied laziness that comes with it would conflict with the necessity of a participant in a debate to properly support his or her points, which is necessary for the discussion to move forward. Not to mention the fact that there's less chance of randomly seeing posts that are formatted in an obtrusive manner, like being right justified with huge spaces in between paragraphs or in green size 7 Arial font and stuffed full of emoticons for no real reason.
  12. My language may have come across as less than perfectly appropriate for the occasion; my apologies. What I found odd was that Darth Nihilus first presented the case of obscure characters in sets as his primary argument against Max Rebo in a palace set in post #2704, with the necessity of having to include the entire Max Rebo band added on later in post #2708 as what I took to be a humorous minor point, but when met with my argument illustrating the former as the norm in post #2720, claimed to have presented the latter as his primary argument. Obviously he had changed his mind regarding which point he felt more strongly for somewhere between the two posts, but the way in which he worded post #2722 ("My main point on the Max Rebo debate is not that he is obscure, though that was a lesser point, but my main point was that if they made him, the rest of the band would have to follow, otherwise he would look out of place") made it seem as if no change had occurred. Simply put, he attempted to invert his major and minor points after he had given them, referring to the former as the latter and vice versa, without stating that he had changed his mind. This really isn’t as big of a chip on my shoulder as I’m making it sound; I’m afraid I’m just rather verbose at times...
  13. Actually, the droid from 6211 has a different dome print.
  14. The 327th Star Corps, then. In any case, my point still stands. Clearly, your opinion on the matter had shifted, but you claimed that your previous posts endorsed the same stance when they evidently did not. As valid as the argument of the mutability of the past is, discussion becomes rather difficult when you alter your memory and attempt to alter ours without first altering the posts as they were recorded on this forum. It would be preferable that we all remember what our positions on a particular issue were a few hours ago.
  15. This is sort of a nitpick, but in your list of MOCs, shouldn't it be "TIE Advanced x1" instead of "TIE x1 Advanced"? Because it's an experimental TIE Advanced...

  16. From the definition you've provided, System seems to describe a 'size' rather than a 'scale', but I suppose this is still an important distinction to make.
  17. Am I missing something? According to the list of sources, Kamino was mentioned in several Legacy of the Force books and other works set after Jedi, but never in the New Jedi Order series. And please, let's try and use the word 'canonicity' more carefully. Someone should provide a working dictionary definition...
  18. -7261 (the first set to include this trooper, which is what I was thinking of when I said 'BARC') was released in 2005 - well before THE Clone Wars. -Name a scene in Sith that features V-wing pilots (with the fully enclosed white helmets). Point proven. Excuse me? A bit more consistency in your posting would be greatly preferred.
  19. "Something about the painted face, the fake smile. There always seemed to be a darkness lurking just under the surface, a potential for real evil." EDIT: Interestingly enough, a similar discussion appears to be taking place in General Discussions. I'm somewhat reminded of the fact that there existed minor dimensional variations between the various stormtrooper helmets used in the films (including one famous "stripeless trooper") as well as the fact that Vader's helmet was not only asymmetrical but sported a two-tone paint scheme. Not to mention transforming equipment, rank badges, and even inconsistencies between props. I wonder, will these be incorporated into future minifigure designs as well? Just think, someday we’ll have minifigures of TIE pilot ”EXITP” as well as TIE pilot ”9X942”. (Is that Aurebesh on their helmets?)
  20. If I saw a person walking down the street with a head wider than his shoulders and nearly as tall as his legs are long, lacking ears, nostrils, and knees, with shoulder and hip joints that only move in one plane, two fingers per hand, stubby legs, and rectangular feet as wide as his hips, well... I'd call a doctor. Seeing as minifigures are proportionally flawed in the first place, the argument that they need to resemble humans more is a rather weak one. Minifigures feature molded parts that can't be easily modified and are generally less versatile in comparison to regular elements. Thus for them to try to become more accurate through detail is to advance a movement that is flawed at its core.
  21. As far as canonicity goes, it's probably something like 'the comic is canon except where it specifically contradicts the episode, and since the particulars were never explicitly stated in the comic, the episode is canon'. So even though that DNA guy looks nothing like a Zygerrian as described in canon, the episode never said he didn't look like a Zygerrian as described in canon, meaning that he in fact does look like a Zygerrian as described in canon.
  22. Max Rebo has an extensive backstory in the Expanded Universe. He also had a cameo in Clone Wars Chapter 22 as one of many Ortolans huddled together in fear. Aldar Beedo, Mawhonic, Gasgano, Dengar, IG-88, Bossk, Ten Numb, and Bly were hardly 'mainstream' characters. I wouldn't say Gonk droids, treadwell droids, BARCs, the 91st Reconnaissance Corps, V-wing pilots, or several of the numerous astromech droids we've had were 'mainstream' either. Honestly, I hadn't heard of any of these characters before they appeared in LEGO sets. Don't forget we've also had such 'obscure' craft as the ice cutter, the Wookiee ornithopter, the AT-AP, the PAC, and (the most baffling of all) the TIE crawler. In light of that, such obscure characters as Max Rebo and Oola are definitely possibilities.
  23. You should probably make a new thread for this, but in any case, it’s looking good. Granted, the proportions and shaping in some areas don’t resemble any TIE/ad I’ve seen, but I suppose that much leeway is permissible with Expanded Universe TIEs.
  24. How about this solution, then? The border is only a single plate thick, and the panel is mostly studless – much more visually appealing, I believe, than a one-stud-thick border. I’ve always preferred panels done this way on TIE MOCs as opposed to SNOT panels, and even more so on other TIEs like the x1 or the bomber, since the black mesh used on the panels of the later TIES (the original TIEs used black Koolshade, which looks very different) is noticeably thicker than the grey border. It's the same case as with System X-wings with SNOT wings - they just look too thick for me.
  25. Poor execution appears to be one reason. There's an interesting discussion on why some believe Cuusoo is a flop here.
