Battlestar Galactica Legos--Will we ever see them?
Fallenangel replied to TristanJones's topic in General LEGO Discussion
I don't watch the show, but I did come across a pretty good Cylon Raider a few weeks ago: This is by Mark Kelso, who also made the 231-stud-long Invisible Hand. I was impressed by how well the rounded shape of the Raider was achieved with SNOT. -
LEGO Star Wars 2012 Pictures and Rumors

Thanks to Clone O'Patra for blogging the new commercial! http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_embedded&v=PhSXm5Fjy-o *We now know how big 9493 is relative to other sets. From this view, the fore end of the set doesn't look very different from 4502, but the more prominent changes in the aft end (e. g. slopes around engine intakes) improve the look slightly. More of the underside is now visible. Is that the same white windscreen, or something else? *What's wrong with the media tags? -
You're going to want to put another 4-wide dish on the bottom to finish off the ball, but basically, yes. While you're at it, you may also want to add in some of the machinery visible through the lower portion of the viewport.

Some of these MOCs deserve their own thread! (Others would do well in the Funnies!) These two are definitely my favorite. Great bit of WWI-esque realism - I wonder how many stormtroopers actually hated the Empire, or didn't care about the war?

Why did you remove the picture?

I believe sales tax is a little higher in Korea, but it's also included in the price.

When I said that I meant it was further increasing the disparity between Oxford and Lego. 1000 piece Oxford set was running around 51,000won, 1000 piece Lego set, around 110,000 on the US site, but now 145,000 on the Korean site. Ah, I see I misunderstood. These sound more in line with the rates I've been seeing. ₩108K is a really great deal for 8404, by the way.

Star Wars: The Clone Wars - Season 4 Discussion
Fallenangel replied to XimenaPaulina's topic in Culture & Multimedia
Given Krell's attitude and the episode preview ("Rex is forced to make a dark choice when the truth about his new general is revealed.") I wouldn't be surprised if Krell turned out to be a Dark Jedi of sorts, though I would be quite disappointed in the producers. On another note... "I don't think I can court-marshal them. It will only be a waste of time, and that's something we don't have". From the beginning I've found it funny that Krell insists on efficiency yet wastes so much breath on his clones. Ordering an execution in the midst of a campaign doesn't sound very time-efficient. -
From my experience, markups in Korea have generally been much better than the markups I’ve heard of in most European countries, and looking at the prices def has given, definitely better than prices in Japan; on average, price discrepancies are usually closer to the smaller 12% you mention than the 30%. Then again, all of my Korean LEGO shopping has been in-store as opposed to online, so it’s possible there could exist something to cause online vendors to crank up the prices. Since you mentioned price per piece, I think we should all remember that that is usually not the best indicator of how a set is fairly priced (7930 and 7931 being only the most obvious example). Looking at price relative to weight would probably be a better way to go. And of course I needn’t echo the fact that LEGO is just cheaper in the U.S. for whatever reason. As with expensive LEGO in any other country, I take it as it is and keep my buying to a minimum. Bricklink is your friend...

Looking at the front view against the stock reference photo, I would say that the chin-mounted cannons look the right distance apart (though they do seem too big - perhaps lightsaber hilts or 3L bars would work better). The issue is that they should be where those 1x2 inverted 45 slopes are now - there's need of another layer of parts above and below the windscreen piece.
-
That isn't quite what I was getting at (though that piece does look better painted). Here, I'll demonstrate with pictures... Here's a front view of Eric W.'s MOC: Compare this with the stock photo of the studio model Hollander found, and a few more: Link The cockpit ball needs to be more pronounced.

LOL According to this canon source, Brickadeer is correct. -
I seem to remember that the diameter of the 1/24 studio model's cockpit ball was roughly 5", indicating 10ft for the "real" craft. So this is obviously smaller than stud-to-foot minifigure scale - but then again, the ball on this MOC appears to be undersized relative to the rest of the ship. As Mr Man alluded to, the SPUD inaccurately has the chin-mounted laser cannons cutting into the viewport, which I suppose helps explain that.
-
He said he would be presenting to us a TIE Avenger, which I presume will turn out even better than the great rendition he’s already made. I am very much looking forward to seeing more MOCs by Eric W. and more participation in the forums – from the looks of his MOCs and comments, he seems to be quite adept in the hobby! A most valuable contribution to the FOL community. That being said, am I really the only person across four sites (Flickr, MOCpages, FBTB, and now Eurobricks) who didn’t think this was absolutely perfect at first glance? Looking through the comments, I appear to be the only one to mention the size of the cockpit ball.
-
And then The Force Unleashed, Knights of the Old Republic, Shadows of the Empire, New Jedi Order, Dark Nest, Legacy...
-
It does appear that these have been posted here before during this site's early years. Who knew?
-
We have a thread for this. But while I'm still here, 7259 ARC-170 Fighter was my first Star Wars set, taking me out of my Dark Ages and into Star Wars. Those were exciting times.
-
It's probably better that you come up with a brickbuilt solution - it will probably be cheaper, and that piece isn't accurate anyway (struts should be like this)...
-
I got this idea for a community build the other day while musing on whether LEGO Star Wars could have a display of its own at the next big Eurobricks Event. Say, I don't know, around 300x300cm in size. Design a large scene in LDD (such as a battle from the Clone Wars), then split it into portions to be built with real bricks by teams of builders. These builders should then bring the built portions together at the event to construct one display to be presented...
-
I would much rather keep this in storage and only bring it out when visitors bring their kids (as far as I'm concerned this is fun to play with but unworthy of display), but if I had to I would probably have it more like this, though more head-on such that neither the fatness of the sides nor the oversized cockpit and mandibles are too conspicuous. I would also place it on a shelf well below eye level to optimize the topside detailing. I’m guessing he dusts his sets regularly. There are quite a few threads on that here; we should really have something like a “LEGO Maintenance Index” for these kinds of things. You'd be surprised how often colors of the rainbow come in useful in Original Trilogy MOCs: Red Orange Yellow Green Blue * *Now find examples for indigo and violet... EDIT: Never mind.
-
Indeed. Though I would definitely not want to display the set at that angle; as Kiel pointed out, it appears terribly fat from the side (just look at the height relative to the docking arms). It is to be expected since the interior is the main focus of the play, but it doesn't look good from the outside at all.

The UCS Imperial Shuttle is correctly scaled to minifigures; the one from 7264 is far too small (just look at the height of the main body relative to a minifigure). -
Welcome to Eurobricks, Brinstar! Are you a fan of the Metroid games, as your username suggests?

Star Wars: The Clone Wars - Season 4 Discussion
Fallenangel replied to XimenaPaulina's topic in Culture & Multimedia
In a rare bout of curiosity inspired partly by the Bloggers’ review that was posted today and a desire to watch the Umbara arc through, I sat through “The General”... and found it decent. The best points have already been mentioned – clone action, mechanical centipedes. You don’t see robotic arthropods much in the Star Wars universe, so this was interesting. As for Krell, my opinion of him at this point is more or less in line with Clone O’Patra’s: Actually, I was pleasantly surprised that ‘Hardcase’ (I think that was his name) appeared to be a defective clone. I suppose the fact that they’re sending in all the clones they can (as well as the fact that the clones care so much for their wounded) is an attempt to convince the audience that this war is actually costing the Republic something, which isn’t bad. And of course I found some of the episode previews quite humorous... “What they discover hits Anakin most of all, slavery has returned to the Republic and he will do whatever he can to stop it.” The “truth” about the new general, eh? Is he an imposter or something? EDIT: Oh, yes, and whoever asked about Krell's voice actor... this should provide a quick laugh. -
Cop this: Jedi Realism Apparently these files have been around for a while. I'm pretty sure I've heard some of these Jedi Codes somewhere...
