  1. *Sylvia lifts the loose stone to reveal a small hidden chamber.* *Sylvia shakes the hand of the statue on the left-side of the doorway to the west library. The whole arm pivots up and down quite easily. Somewhere behind the wall a pulley can be heard squeaking in conjunction with the moving statue arm.* *Samantha searches the column and finds an interesting statue in front of which is Sylvia. She is shaking the statue's hand.* *Johnson reconsiders checking every stone as there isn't enough time before the eclipse starts and he has to keep an eye on the tour group too. Perhaps an easier way to check the stones will reveal itself...*
  2. I need you all to be patient for just one more night because I'm a big liar. HAHA! The new chapter is up! Yay! Finally! I'm so tired... Enjoy kids. This is the setup for the actual "mystery" to begin. Slow paced, huh? I actually like a slower pace, but please let me know how you guys are liking the game. Perhaps I'm opening a bad can of worms here, but I'm willing to listen to and discuss feedback. I know it's been slow but I'm excited and I'm having fun. Even with as busy as I've been I want to do this right.
  3. "This is the grand chamber. For obvious reasons it has earned the nickname “Hall of Horrors.” We haven’t much time before the eclipse starts. Please stick to this room only. There are six entrances to the Grand Chamber. One we just entered through from the Guard House. To the right and left are identical entrances to the temples two “libraries” as they’ve come to be known. In the back right corner is the entrance to the Ceremonial Chamber and on the back left wall is the entrance to the area known as “The Baths.” The entrance in the back wall comes in from the courtyard." Johnson Willoughby rolls his ankle just a bit as he walks into the Grand Chamber. He radios Hector. "Hector, I've got a slight injury here. Could you run the first aid kit up to the Grand Chamber?" Johnson asks. There is no answer. "Must be off in the jungle, getting high on cannabis." Johnson mutters under his breath. ________________________________________________ Rules for Game play (borrowed mostly from Dragonator's Mystery Manor) There are to be 21 participants. If you commit to the game you are committing to contributing to the story and sticking with it to the end. I am trusting you all not to drop out halfway through, as that is never any fun. The winner will be announced at the end of the game. Players will be scored along the way on certain criteria and completion of objectives. This will not be clear until the end. Ask questions for clarity along the way, but don't be surprised if the answers are cryptic. Of course, to win, you must survive… Attempts to solve the mystery or objectives can be postulated in the game itself. The truth will be revealed at the end. If someone solves the mystery before then, the mystery will play out and that player will be given points for solving it. Throwing out constant solutions will only get you killed. If an objective is to find out who stole something and you end up posting a guess of every other player, your latest post will be taken as your solution and you will be killed anyway, so just don't do it. You must search for clues. This means that an action must be specified. For example, you wish to search a room for hidden objects. The following is an example of how not to go about this: "I wish to look for suspicious or hidden objects in this room". Instead, you must be able to specify what you want to do. For example: "I would like to open the drawers of the cabinet." It is not required for you to specify exactly what you are doing and what you are looking for, but a generalised statement will not find you anything. Act like a detective and you will be fine. Dynamic Actions: Actions you wish to carry out without all of the other players' knowledge can be PMed to the game host, Hinckley. You may or may not be allowed to do what you request. Attacking: I have setup a system for attacking and defending that is needlessly complicated and I won't try to involve you all in the specifics. At a certain point, you may want to attack another player. PM me your attack and I will answer if it is plausible or not. Some characters just would not attack another player, based on their character description. Some characters are stronger than other when it comes to defense and counter-attack. So think before you attack. Life points: I am using TheBrickster's life points system, however I will not bother you all with the details. Just be careful and do your best to live. Host response time: Please be patient. You may bring the story to a point where you need the host to further game play. I will be on top of this game as much as possible. Please be patient with me between chapters as well. The game host is always right. Please don't question the rules or the info you are given. Take the info I give you and work with it. If you're terribly confused, please say so or ask questions. But, if I don't give you any further info, please be patient with the info you are given and try to work with what you have. Stagnant game: If you find yourself trapped in a room, it is because you need to find a clue or you've missed something. Don’t argue with the game host. You’ll be there until everything that needs to be discovered has been discovered. This game is meant to be fun, so enjoy yourselves! Please try to avoid editing your posts, as it can lead to suspicion against you. Just consider what you want to say before you say it or even proofread and you'll be fine. Failure to follow these rules will result in a warning. A second failure will result in the humorous death of your character. Cast of characters: Pleas note: more character info will come to some players from the host before each chapter starts. 4. Update: Chapter 3 will be up tomorrow evening. Sorry again for the delay and thank you for your undying patience. I have completed building but need to look over the story and make sure I send out the correct info to players before continuing.
  5. Keep it up. That only makes me move faster. This set is going to be cool...I think
  6. Did I say Thursday? Did I? I should've said Friday or Saturday or even Sunday. A lot is going to happen in this chapter so be prepared... It'll be up soon. I have a lot of building to do...
  7. I'm OK with you guys building character in this thread. It helps us love the characters more. And since we're not voting people out and there isn't a hidden group of scum, there's not really much for anybody to play. And leave Johnson Willoughby alone. I make him say those things...and wet his pants.
  8. Yay! No more Book Antigua! Look for Chapter 3 on Thursday...
  9. Johnson Willoughby gathers everyone together to continue the tour. Just as they're about to leave the Guard House, a low moan seems to emit from the very walls. It turns into a soft rumble and for a split second the whole temple appears to shake. William holds his daughter close while Diesel, standing closer to Donna, instinctively positions himself in front of his mother-in-law protecting her. Diana awkwardly puts a soccer-Mom arm across Quentin's chest. Stanton looks to his Dad to see if he's doing OK. Jack Baxter thinks quickly and throws himself and Stanton into an archway for protection. But, it's all unnecessary. The momentary quake is almost over before it's started. "Heh he" Johnson Willoughby laughs tentatively, "The old temple is known to settle a bit from time to time. I never imagined it would settle so violently, but I'm sure that's all it was. Shall we continue with the tour?" As the group heads up the staircase for the continuation of the tour, a wolf howls in the distance... "Sorry young man. I have a son of my own back home. You remind me of him. It was just a mother's instinct." "Thank you Diesel." "Eh, don't mention it."
  10. *That is correct*
  11. *Diesel pushes the walls and looks for loose stones. The wall is very solid and neither budges nor produces any loose stones.* *Penny checks the parchment. It appears again to be very similar to her grandmother's handwriting.* *Checking the dark gem with her own, she realizes they are identical except for the color. The dark gem is dark green and her gem is bright red.* *None of these 8 letter words are correct.* *Penny hands the gem back to Stanton.* The _ _ _ _ | _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ | _ _ | _ _ _ _ _
  12. Thanks Jamie! Hope you're doing well. Looking forward to facing off against Swedes in the Firefighter game again soon!
  13. *Stanton takes possession of the dark gem...*
  14. *Johnson shakes the gem. Nothing happens*
  15. *Johnson holds the gem up to the light of the moon. It is such a deep green it barely filters the light of the bright moon. The gem seems to gaze back. For an inanimate object, Johnson remarks that it has a very intense energy to it. It almost looks as if something is shifting inside...almost...*
  16. *Johnson Willoughby confiscates the dark gem to stop the old man from beating up on the teenager...*
  17. *Jack Baxter opens the mouth of the statue revealing a dark gem. He begins to feels around the mouth and pull the teeth. Nothing happens.*
  18. *Jack hastily tries to put it in the mouth of the statue, not searching the mouth for any other clues. Nothing happens. He closes the mouth and puts the ring on the demon's head. Nothing happens.*
  19. Farenheit? What's that? An Australian word for January? Is it the 108th day of the Australian year? So weird...
  20. Damn it! Get back in there and sweat. Shees, stupid Australians. Hot in 40 degree weather. That's freezing! What's it like during the Summer down there? Weird weird country...
  21. *Jack puts the ring on his finger, oddly enough, considering it is large enough to fit over his head. If you were made of LEGO parts, the ring is as big as a 2x2 plate...* *On the parchment is scrawled: "See pages hired fast sword _ _ _ | _ _ _ _ | _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ | _ _ | _ _ _ _ _ "*
  22. Has Quarryman been posting? Is he missing?
  23. *Jack Baxter reaches into the vacant torch hole. He pulls out a piece of parchment wrapped up with a copper ring.* *The ring must've fallen into the vacant hole out of the perpendicular shaft when the torches were moved into the correct position.*
  24. *Sheesh* *Sheldon and Penny jerk on the appendages pulling the statue back to and fro. It does not appear to conceal anything beneath it, although it moves surprisingly easily.* *Samantha turns the statue towards the torch hole. Nothing happens* *Chris Owen, having not paid attention at all to anything that had previously happened messes around with the torches...* *Ahem yourself, this action has already been answered. :* *Richard attempts to get the sword from Diesel. While awaiting an answer he notices the vacant hole is no longer vacant...* *Stanton taps on the walls with Ingrid, although she's already been told that it did no good.* *Penny bravely searches for traps by tapping on potential triggers. Luckily, there are no traps or anything else interesting or out of place about the floor.* *Diana bodily turns the statue towards each archway and the staircase. Nothing happens.* *Jack molests the statue. Nothing happens. He joins in pushing the thing around instead.* *You will need the sword to do so...* *Donna also begins typing despite the fact that it's already been revealed that it does nothing for anybody...* *Sylvia looks fabulous*
