*Ingrid grabs a torch to illuminate the crack in the wall. After almost setting her hair on fire, she glimpses what looks like the captain's wheel of a ship...Nothing else is visible and the source of the sound is not in sight.* *The group decides to try to solve the lever puzzle while waiting for Johnson Willoughby to show them to one of the libraries.*
-
*Siegourney looks at the object. It is the small key that was found at the entrance and was being carried by Jack Baxter.* *Although, the lever puzzle remains unsolved, a consensus is made by the group to search the libraries for clues. They look to Johnson Willoughby to lead the way...*
-
*The camera doesn't make anything clearer in this instance.* *Something metal falls from the ceiling. It clangs on the floor a bit, and then rests next to the "altar."*
-
*Diana and Sheldon look up toward the ceiling. There is a disturbing amount of movement up there. It's hard to make it out in the dim lighting. Perhaps the events of the night are starting to wear on them because they both seem to see something very large crawling along the ceiling...*
-
*It is not climbable.*

*While Diesel guards the immediate area, almost everyone in the group searches the wall for signs of a secret passage: levers, a seam in the wall, etc. The wall is completely solid. What does strike them as odd though are the little chunks of rock missing at somewhat irregular intervals up the wall. Nobody remembers seeing them there before...* *Ingrid inspects the other wall to find a complete mess. She had forgotten that in the previous chapter, Jack Baxter had found a lever in the floor. When Jack pulled the lever it caused the wall in front of him to crack and begin to crumble. The lever is currently stuck and pulling the lever further would cause the wall to collapse on the person who was manning the lever. Ingrid gingerly peaks through the crack in the wall. It is pitch black behind it but she can hear movement...* *The statue puzzle opened a chamber in one of the arches which produced a stone head which is currently in Fred Thomas's possession.* *Diana examines the hidden chamber under the "altar." There is nothing more of interest to find there.*

My internet is down. I'm posting from my phone. I will update the chapter as soon as the cable is fixed... -
*A very odd set of tracks lead from the main "altar" and to the courtyard. Even more disconcerting is that the strange set of tracks comes back into the Grand Chamber and seem to disappear into the east wall...*

*He seems to have been eviscerated by either huge teeth or a very rough-edged knife. Too bad there are no medical experts in the group...*

With one death, a gruesome murder and a highly suspicious skeleton, the tour group faced its first list of objectives: Find the statues. Solve Jack Baxter's murder. Solve the disappearance of Stanton. To solve any of these mysteries, PM the host. Solving it correctly will change the game play depending on your character and which mystery you have solved. Mysteries can also be solved in the thread by the group. You are allowed three incorrect guesses before you are comically killed off of the game, so think before solving. Now that the group had a clear picture of their predicament, they looked to their fearless leader, Johnson Willoughby, to show them the rest of the temple, so they could search for clues... ________________________________________________ Rules for Game play (borrowed mostly from Dragonator's Mystery Manor) There are to be 21 participants. If you commit to the game you are committing to contributing to the story and sticking with it to the end. I am trusting you all not to drop out halfway through, as that is never any fun. The winner will be announced at the end of the game. Players will be scored along the way on certain criteria and completion of objectives. This will not be clear until the end. Ask questions for clarity along the way, but don't be surprised if the answers are cryptic. Of course, to win, you must survive… Attempts to solve the mystery or objectives can be postulated in the game itself. The truth will be revealed at the end. If someone solves the mystery before then, the mystery will play out and that player will be given points for solving it. Throwing out constant solutions will only get you killed. If an objective is to find out who stole something and you end up posting a guess of every other player, your latest post will be taken as your solution and you will be killed anyway, so just don't do it. You must search for clues. This means that an action must be specified. For example, you wish to search a room for hidden objects. The following is an example of how not to go about this: "I wish to look for suspicious or hidden objects in this room". Instead, you must be able to specify what you want to do. For example: "I would like to open the drawers of the cabinet." It is not required for you to specify exactly what you are doing and what you are looking for, but a generalised statement will not find you anything. Act like a detective and you will be fine. Dynamic Actions: Actions you wish to carry out without all of the other players' knowledge can be PMed to the game host, Hinckley. You may or may not be allowed to do what you request. Attacking: I have setup a system for attacking and defending that is needlessly complicated and I won't try to involve you all in the specifics. At a certain point, you may want to attack another player. PM me your attack and I will answer if it is plausible or not. Some characters just would not attack another player, based on their character description. Some characters are stronger than other when it comes to defense and counter-attack. So think before you attack. Life points: I am using TheBrickster's life points system, however I will not bother you all with the details. Just be careful and do your best to live. Host response time: Please be patient. You may bring the story to a point where you need the host to further game play. I will be on top of this game as much as possible. Please be patient with me between chapters as well. The game host is always right. Please don't question the rules or the info you are given. Take the info I give you and work with it. If you're terribly confused, please say so or ask questions. But, if I don't give you any further info, please be patient with the info you are given and try to work with what you have. Stagnant game: If you find yourself trapped in a room, it is because you need to find a clue or you've missed something. Don’t argue with the game host. You’ll be there until everything that needs to be discovered has been discovered. This game is meant to be fun, so enjoy yourselves! Please try to avoid editing your posts, as it can lead to suspicion against you. Just consider what you want to say before you say it or even proofread and you'll be fine. Failure to follow these rules will result in a warning. A second failure will result in the humorous death of your character. Cast of characters: Pleas note: more character info will come to some players from the host before each chapter starts. Get your dynamic actions into me if you want them to take effect before the next chapter. -
*The answers to your questions and more exciting puzzles will be coming soon in the next chapter...*
-
*The pulleys are heard again moving behind the wall. This time there is a loud thump as a portion of the "altar" drops to the ground revealing a hidden chamber. An object rolls out from the chamber. Fred picks it up to inspect it. It is the hideous head of a stone idol...*
-
*On the cover page there is a very light inscription. The words "Torches: North, East, South, West" seem to have been scratched in...*
-
"Interesting. However, Mr. Baxter and Hector are certainly dead. In Hector's case, perhaps scorpions are attracted to smoke but Mr. Baxter was clearly brutally murdered. Did his body just fall out of the sky? Where did it come from? How did that happen?"
-
*Johnsons subtely picks a rib bone off of Stanton's carcass.* "OK People. We're stuck here and people are dying. This most recent murder is just freakin' creepy. There are certain things we need to discuss before continuing. What or who are we fighting? How should we continue on? Are we suffIciently armed? Do the clues we have lead to any conclusions about anything? Have we missed any clues? Let's throw out some theories, no matter how wild, and discuss our situation before we go back to solve the remaining puzzles in the Grand Chamber or searching the courtyard any further."
-
*Rich looks through Stanton's discarded backpack. There are some books and magazines, Stanton's flashlight and compass, a Field Guide to Wilderness Survival and an old picture of Rich and Stanton at Stanton's 5th grade play...*
-
*There isn't very good news out in the courtyard:*
-
*Removing Jack Baxter's bones would be difficult since his skin and organs still cover his body...* *This does nothing.* "I must be some horrible father. It's taken me this long to be concerned about the well being of my son. I told him to wait in the courtyard. He must still be out there. I hope he's OK. I think we should stick together. Would you please all join me in searching the courtyard for my son?? "
-
*Chris Owen, Siegourney, Diesel Nolan, Zachary Fortem, Sheldon Wills, Penny Maltese and Tony Peck all retrieve their knives. Sigourney has the honor of cleaning Scorpion guts off of hers. She is silently proud the little pothead busdriver was able to take a scorpion out before they overcame him...* *The group heads back to explore the mysteries of the ancient temple.* *They pass again through the Guard House:* *And again into the Grand Chamber:*
-
*The tranquilizer gun can only shoot one dart at a time. There is a belt of four darts, plus one in the chamber.* *The revolver holds six bullets. It is loaded with three bullets.* *It looks like the ruins you are standing in front of. It is very old. You show it to everyone. There is nothing more special about it.* *Since the eclipse only just started the moon only has a sliver of red on it. The full "Red Moon" will occur around 2 in the morning...* *The group gazes at the moon for a few minutes before heading back into the temple...*

"After all of this chaos, I think we need to do a roll call and find out who is still here."
