Dr. Bloodbrick's Asylum - The Conclusion
Hinckley replied to def's topic in LEGO Mafia and Role-Play Games
I've read on Mafiascum that it's how an insane cop can check his findings, but Quarryman wouldn't let me do it in Infection. It's up to the host's discretion. -

This was a hard game for a first timer. Really, I think the game play was too advanced for noobs. Then again, see what a vet like me accomplished? Epic loss... Fair enough. -

I always get stuck in that, too. Mafia advice, never play your character. It only causes suspicion. It will take hours to copy and paste all the PMs, so wait until tonight please. Thanks. -
Dr. Bloodbrick's Asylum - The Conclusion
Hinckley replied to def's topic in LEGO Mafia and Role-Play Games
One of the most fun and highly creative mafia games, but, in my opinion, unbalanced. Consider that next time you host. Consider it's just one losing player's opinion of course, but please consider it. Thanks. For the first time ever, I had no clue what you were talking about. And you told me you didn't trust me after I defended you. And then you got all angry at us. But, finally, yesterday, I understood what you were telling us about Arjay lying. I realize now that if he had actually been a peeping tom, he wouldn't have been able to find you. That was not clear the way you put it. But, once I figured out Arjay was lying to us about his night action, it became very clear. megablocking blue arm... Yeah, I wish you would've shifted the zoom more too. And I didn't trust the PR. You had us vote him in so what was stopping all scum from voting in one of their own? It was an interesting social experiment. A bunch of us didn't trust Bear because he'd been voted in. He was the last person I would've gone to for help at that point. Hindsight is 20/20 but so is hosting. Being in the game is worlds different. I forgot to congratulate RJ, you're brilliant. Nice game. I only wish I could've seen you killed, you freakin' liar. One more complaint for def: Some consistency with Kovacs's night action would've been nice. Was there singing or wasn't there? -

Dr. Bloodbrick's Asylum - The Conclusion

Let me call megablocks on you here. There was a host-official picture of me injecting another player with a syringe. Explaining things to Jim Butcher wouldn't have done crap. People were already voting against me. It was day 2. I didn't trust our leader and didn't have anyone I trusted enough, that other people trusted to come to my defense. Anybody who tried to defend the deranged freak injecting other people would've gone down with me. And correction: I didn't understand my night action until like two days ago...and not game days... -
Dr. Bloodbrick's Asylum - The Conclusion
Hinckley replied to def's topic in LEGO Mafia and Role-Play Games
Sensitive folk, be warned, I'm going to swear. I'd like to begin by thanking Shadows for freaking out. It gave me good perspective for getting over my own bitterness. I will be taking a break from life and checking into a real asylum for a while as I deserve the "Takes the game too seriously" award, or as Rick would put it "am the only candidate" for said award. Oh, look I have four PMs, I wonder if they're from the Secret Garden Club, or the Moon Rocket club. Or if it's just another odd disjointed PM from yumiyoshi. Let me start by telling Dragonator, "You are no longer my friend. I'm serious. I trusted you and you walked all over it. What did you think this was? Some sort of game? Where the object is to lie to people? You took my trust and you treated it like garbage. I can't believe you would do that to someone. It shows what type of person you really are. I would never do such a thing unless it meant moving up one notch on the 'survived' list of EB mafia games. For shame and congratulations. Awesome game. As a matter of fact, hats off to an almost perfect game. I can't believe you talked us into letting Arjay live. I'm an idiot." Next, to everyone else I apologize, because we never ever could've won that because of my blind trust of Dragonator. Wow, what a mess. Shadows's game profile said he was Insane? Odd, I even read it and didn't pick that up myself. Going after him was metagaming. Again, I'm sorry. I always go after him because he's the scummiest mafioso of any scum that ever walked the face of the Earth. Except he's nothing in comparison to my new love, Dragonator. But, when a game starts and you can't tell anything and it's that first night, you just focus on Shadows because you're bored and have nobody else to go after. It's why I was blocked on my first night of Mystical Castle. People go after names they recognize, which is why it's probably best to stay in bed if you're known in these games. I will next apologize to my employer for doing nothing but think, dream, post in this game for the last week...or two. I don't know what came over me. I never do this, but this game ate at me. I was so upset the day I had no clue what the answer was to that stupid take-out food riddle. This game really widdled down my self-esteem. I can't count the number of days I felt immensely stupid. Which leads me to Rick. Thanks to Rick for being my rock in this and helping me keep things somewhat in perspective. Awesome job keeping everyone else out of the garden. Sorry that we both formed an alliance of all scum. You probably hate me now, but after going through that with you I feel very close with you. Rufus and Cornelius Murdock can go megabluck themselves but we are friends. My next apology goes to all the Insane who made it to the end only to die, and also to the uninfected who made it through Infection to the end, also only to die. It seems my only purpose in Mafia Games anymore is to freak out and lead people to their doom. I'm playing more though, I'm addicted and it's my new purpose in life. In retrospect, Dragonator never voted for the ones we really wanted dead. Scouts, Lord Arjay. We just narrowly missed them. Yumiyoshi, what the megabluck? Pull the trigger! Stash, my first ally, missed you very much in this game. Just be happy you didn't waste two weeks as the Sinister's puppet only to die, unclimactically in the end. To def, awesome job, I'd like to see you host another one. Character development, sets, new actions, all great stuff. I had a blast, even if I was incredibly frustrated. (Who wants me to post ALL the PMs that were going behind the scenes?) If you want specific feedback, please contact me and we can talk about some things I may have done differently. The garden was my favorite new feature, what a smart idea and having the PR have the possibility of lying to get those he trusted in to talk to Henry. That was very smart. Let me ask you, though, what the hell was with having four independents? And what mind-bending actions did they have? Anyway, I'm used to one neutral serial killer and don't understand the point of other neutrals. 5 Sinister and 4 neutrals is a lot to be up against. Bad luck really made it hard for the town to win in this one. One more day would've uncovered a ton, I think. I was feeling very positive and it is really disheartening to lose, right when we were on the brink of finally figuring things out. The town needs time to test their actions, while the scum knows exactly what they're doing. This game felt unbalanced, but that's my perspective as a losing townie, who trusted way too easily. Just ask Rick. But one more day, Rick and I even had a thread going about how we might not be able to trust Dragonator. Wow, it's true. We were actually considering it. I'm very competitive and we finally had some consistency and were finally gaining some traction. I hate losing. I hate it. But this was a very fun journey. And thank you for hosting it and putting it all together. And thanks for asking me to play. I really shouldn't have. Life is too crazy right now, but it's nice to be involved again and form friendships with new members. Walter Kovacs, too bad we didn't compare notes. I was wondering where you went. We were stalking you. We saw you online. The whole hospital turned against you while you were posting in Harry Potter's Wizarding Duel. I thought you gave up. I really thought you were going to be our first scum. Nice call on not trusting Draggy. What made you think he was lying? Too bad Arjay and Ricey were there to stop you. Ricecracker, excellent game. I hate you. Scouts and Rufus, the hurt feelings thing will not work in the future. I will rip out everybody's heart and stomp on it in these megablocking games. megablocks. Anyway, it was fun. Sorry I'm such a blind-trusting idiot. I hope to make it up to "survived 3 games" someday. EDIT: One last thing def, good luck in my game if you play it. You're going to get the most impossible role I can think up. Not because I didn't like the game, but because you're giving Shadows reason to say "I told you so." "I told you not to trust Dragonator." I hate nobody more than Shadows. -

Dr. Bloodbrick's Asylum - Day Seven
Hinckley replied to def's topic in LEGO Mafia and Role-Play Games
Sorry I mucked up the order in my theory post. I mean Tim Tam and Diem are the killer and framer/blocker respsectively. I switched them up, even though I read it over 4 times. I was just trying to use a big word. I think Tim Tam is the killer. I think Diem is the blocker or framer. Here's my concern with voting out Professor Diem. 2 is a prime number. What if it's just the two of them? We vote out Tim Tam and the weapons are confiscated. We vote out Diem and there's a possibility that Tim Tam will be free to kill tonight. Is there a town blocker? If I've been being blocked up until last night, was it the Sinister? Is Diem the framer and there's a Sinister blocker or a Sinister protector? 3 Sinister? 5 Sinister? I hope if we have a town blocker they will block Tim Tam tonight. I'm standing along side my "gang" and will unvote: Tim Tam Timmers/Lord Arjay and vote: Professor Diem/Walter Kovacs Aw, nuts... Sorry, I can post in closed threads. I suppose my vote switch doesn't count. I've lost my damn mind with this game. -
Dr. Bloodbrick's Asylum - Day Seven
Hinckley replied to def's topic in LEGO Mafia and Role-Play Games
The Mysterious Case of Tim Tam Timmers I know it’s been quiet in here today and here’s why. We’ve uncovered the Jesus Gang mole(s) and have been waiting to verify our story with the remaining members of our splintered group of trust. As I’ve told you my night action revealed last night that either Lupo or Tim Tam Timmers is a member of the Sinister gang. I was able to use my night action for the first time last night. I told the Jesus gang I would be attempting to switch Salvatore with Ryan. But I had lied. We were so commonly referring to a possible mole in our group that we had decided I would choose who to protect without letting the others know. I thought it would be smart to keep my night action a secret as well. I was not blocked and found that, since my night action only works on the unprotected Insane, either Lupo or Tim Tam are Sinister. The reason I chose them was because I was suspicious of Lupo and thought Tim Tam had proven himself when we tested him by having Professor Diem block him. Tim Tam told us how Walter had sang to him and Walter even verified it by quizzing him about what song he had serenaded him with. I contacted a couple of you today who now know what’s going on and why I asked you what I asked. Here’s where things started getting really interesting. We had learned through the garden (sorry we didn’t share it. Again, we were afraid there was a mole in our group) that the Sinister gang has a framer. They can make an Insane look Sinister when investigated. This explains Petey’s incorrect investigation results on Bear and King. (I didn’t understand that framing was a role, which is why I originally suspected Scouts to have literally framed Bear and King.) Since it was the first night I had used my night action, I had no idea how much it would reveal and it came with a little perk. I got a message today that a member of “a room without hair ( ? I know, right? ) was lying about their night action. I immediately thought of Tim Tam Timmers/Lord Arjay and how he had saved himself with his story about his night action and was verified by Professor Diem who we all believed to be our role blocker. Tim Tam lives in the chicken room and the chicken is an animal without hair. Funny that he’s bunking with Professor Diem too. In the morning, Salvatore had also mentioned that someone had climbed into bed with him last night. No singing accompanied the spooning. Professor Diem also was in bed with Dr. Ballbricker and claims to have blocked Dudley last night. Neither one of them heard any singing. In the mean time, Tim Tam is very angry that we haven’t convicted Lupo and Professor Diem want us to continue letting him block Dudley at night, since he’s convinced Dudley is the killer, since he “blocked” him last night. But, I asked our protector to protect Professor Diem last night and for some reason, neither Tim Tam nor Professor Diem seem to understand that Professor Diem was the most likely target (since it was revealed in the day thread that he was our “blocker”), so the victim may have just been protected, leaving Dudley a 50/50 for being the killer. So, what do we think happened? In case you all think I’m the anti-Christ, I’ll hold back the names of my most trusted allies, but I’ve been putting pieces together with them all day and here’s the theory. (cue Scooby-Doo “this is how they did it” music) Professor Diem and Tim Tam invent the story of the role blocker and how he sings to those he is spooning with. They make up the phony story about the song to verify Tim Tam and get the Jesus Gang to trust him. Tim Tam and Professor Diem are the Sinister framer and the Sinister killer respectively. Last night, they believe I’m going to switch Salvatore with Ryan, so they don’t have me blocked. Instead they try to frame Salvatore so the Jesus Gang will think that either Salvatore or Ryan are the mole. They also choose not to kill to place the blame for the murders on Dudley. Professor Diem offers to keep Dudley blocked while we search for the other Sinisters and they pick us off one by one until we’re outnumbered. Think that theory is correct? How’s this for a little kicker? Remember how you all insisted that Tim Tam was most likely the killer because of the blue arm in the photohraph and I defended him? Well, I apologize to you all and to the victims he took since. I hope we can right this wrong by convicting him today. His weapons will most likely pass to another member of his gang, but we’re on to them, finally, I hope. I mean, for God’s sake, if I’m wrong, I deserve to die. Really. But, after all this bloodshed, I think we’ve started uncovering the culprits. I doubt Professor Diem is our blocker. If we have a real blocker please contact me so I know we can block a potential killer. If we take out Professor Diem and block Tim Tam we can survive another night to find out more. Or we could risk taking out the killer now and the weapons being passed on. But, as mentioned before, there could be a blocker blocking our blocker I’m inclined to vote: Tim Tam Timmers/Lord Arjay I’d rather risk the weapons being passed than leaving him potentially unblocked and we’re running out of time. -

Also, our staff has become exponentially more social over time and we meet people at fan conventions who come and join the site. We meet a lot of incredibly talented people that way. If they start posting or bring us a new MOC, we try to encourage them to stay by giving them a tag. It's just a friendly way to welcome our real life friends to the site. This is probably why you see some people with that tag that only have a few posts. Again, it's certainly something our mods and regulators can take a closer look at as we head into the future. And, yes, it does bear repeating that the front page priority is news and set reviews. MOCs, while fantastic, are our soft news, we post to keep the front page from going stale. That's not to say they aren't worthy of the front page and sometimes we do find a MOC to post and wait until our news has had a chance to sit on the front page a little longer. And, of course, as our member base grows, there's more of a chance that we'll get people questioning our intentions. No big deal. We're happy to answer most things. We really have nothing to hide. We're a very laid back staff trying to organize and regulate a fun site about the fun things we do with a fun hobby. So, next time you find yourself asking "I wonder why this person has this tag or why this person is in this group?" ask yourself, "What could I be doing that would be more fun?" You may have more fun that way. -
Correct. Welcome back. Keep identifying that correct end...

We're talking about MOCs. I'm OK with staff frontpaging our own reviews, and I believe I've done it with my own reviews. Either way, I would do that and am OK with other staff doing it because our reviews are news. It is important for us to frontpage them ourselves, especially if we are the first to review a set. We try to get other staff members to frontpage our reviews for us, but if nobody's around. I don't think we have any staff members who would frontpage their own MOCs or even ask another staff member to frontpage it for them. That's one of the reasons I like the group we've put together to run the site: there's a major lack of ego in our group. -

So, you pretend to be new, but you have war experience? Why have you tried to seem naive this whole time? Acting like you don't know how to handle yourself in these situations when you are a war nurse has made you seem very suspicious. If you have such defenses, you are most likely Insane. If only we'd have known before we lost Guillermo Bolero. Nurse Pepper, please forgive us. Since we had a mole in our group, we were lead astray. -
Dr. Bloodbrick's Asylum - Day Seven
Hinckley replied to def's topic in LEGO Mafia and Role-Play Games
We have to be sure today. Not only did we block somebody last night, we protected somebody too. It could be the killer was blocked or it could be the victim was protected. I will say that Esteban Bolero was targetting Nurse Pepper/yumiyoshi. I imagine his face was scalded off with a jar of acid or something, perhaps a defensive action on her part. So, maybe there's not another independent killer out there with a different MO. Since Jose Bolero made it to the staff room, we can only assume that he was about to kill her when her defense kicked in. Unless she was warned by the Jesus Gang Mole and she was ready with her jar of acid. Perhaps she had a jar of acid like Cat Manuel had a grenade. A one-time use thing. Another independent? A Sinister with a kill protection? What do you remember from last night, Nurse Pepper? -

Thanks for voicing your concerns. I think the problem there is we stopped handing that tag out for a while. We should look through our recent MOCers and see who's profile should be updated. I'm glad that people want to build here and post their stuff to share it with the community because they enjoy it, not just because they want a tag. It's great to see so many people working hard and we try to give out the expert tag accordingly. How often do you see this happening? Can you provide an example?
