Welcome to The Forest Nights! (inspired by games host def) Players only please! The sun has set and Baxter Bulldog, Cameron Cockodile and Casey Cat have completed restoring Winter Haven's village square fountain. Everyone's happy to see the fountain working again. It's a nice, soothing presence on a day that brings such tension and danger to their happy and adorable existence. "I didn't think we'd get it done today," Cameron Cockodile says. "The painting was behind since you seemed to be slacking off today, Casey." "I wasn't slacking off," Casey explains. "I was afraid, for a while, it would be my last night on Earth, so Maurice and I had some carnal escapades out in the forest. Meeooooow!" "Maurice!" Baxter Bulldog exclaims. "Your back is all scratched up! Are you OK?" "Did she take any big chunks?" Maurice asks. "I'm afraid she might've carved some off for dinner. She loves me but her instinct is to eat me." They are interrupted by a shrill scream. Everyone freezes, fearing the worst... ...but it's only Ernie Elephant shrieking as a drop of water from the fountain lands on his nose. "Oh help!" He shrieks. "Get it off of me! I'm terrified of water! It's on my tunk!" "Tunk?" Ralphy Rabbit asks. "Which part of you is a tunk, girlfriend?" They are interrupted by a shrill scream... ... but it's only Gilda Goat screaming in surprise as Cameron Cockodile gives her rump a playful bite and accidentally tastes a full taste. The night is interrupted once again by a bellowing moan, followed by a high-pitched squeal... ...but it's just ... ... this. The Winter Haven village square is empty and the marble statue reflects the light of the moon. A glow emanates from within the water in the fountain and the statue comes to life. "We'll start with an easy one," the statue says. "Betray wife fore hex. _ _ _ _ _ _ | _ _ _ | _ _ _ _ _ | _ _ _!" Puzzle Rules PM the answer to Hinckley & Foog using your role PM. The answer must be received within twelve hours of this post to be valid. Those who answer correctly (on the first try only) will proceed to a second round puzzle. All those who answer correctly will move on with no benefit to anyone who guesses first. Day One has begun. You may not vote in the first 24 hours. Objective: The Cultists win when they have outnumbered the Villagers, including any third-parties and the Villagers win when all of the Cultists are dead. The Rules: Each player will be given a character to play, who will be aligned with either the Villagers or the Cultists. To win the game, the Villagers must kill off all of the Cultists, while the Cultists must outnumber the Villagers. Any third party player will have win conditions that are detailed in their role PM... Each day you will be able to vote to lynch a player. Voting should be done in the following format; Vote: Character (Player). Similarly, unvoting is to be done in the format; Unvote: Character (Player). No other format will be accepted. You may also proxy your vote to another player, using this format; proxy: Character (Player). Naturally, unproxying a vote is also possible. The player with the most votes is lynched. In the case of a tie, there will be no lynch. A game day will last a maximum of 72 hours. You may not vote in the first 24 hours. The day will not end when a majority vote has been reached. If there is time left, a majority vote can be over-turned. After the day has concluded, a night stage will commence, which will last a maximum of 48 hours. Night actions must be sent to the host in the first 24 hours of the night stage, or they will not be accepted, no exceptions. The alignment of lynched players, as well as those that died during the night, will be revealed at the beginning of the next day, barring any interference. You may not quote or pretend to quote anything sent to or from you in PM with the game host. This includes all the details and pictures of your character and role, as well as any night action results. Role claims and reporting of night action results are acceptable, but in your own words only. Do not attempt to use the structure of your role PM to your advantage. You may not quote PMs from other players. Paraphrasing is allowed but no direct quoting. Please refrain from quoting PMs in the game threads and in private. Do not play the game outside the thread. Similarly, do not post out of character inside the thread. Game tactics and roles may only be discussed in the game thread or via PM with other players. Private discussion is done at your own risk and should be treated as part of the game. If you are dead, you may not post in thread or discuss the game with any of the players. Any information you had becomes void, and may not be passed on. Violation of this rule will result in a multiple game suspension. If you are converted, you must accept your new affiliation. If it's proven that you gave up your new team after conversion, the whole game will be null and you will most likely not to be asked to play one of my games again. You may not edit your posts. The sun is setting and the Village has decided to lynch Petey Panda (darkdragon). Everyone gathers in the Village Square surrounding Petey Panda as he sits on the river bank next to a tub of tasty fish he caught just for his friends...who have just killed him. Mindy Mouse eyes her friends in the tub. "Marcellus hasn't built any gallows. How are we supposed to lynch him?" Someone complains. "We could beat him with a blunt object," someone offers. "Or maybe we could suffocate him with something," another someone suggest. "We have a sheep. A sheep could suffocate." "We all know the legend of Azufre," the local legend expert offers. "They tied a rock to all the suspects and pushed them in the river. They were all witches in the end. Except for that handsome Henry." Suddenly Petey stands up and screams, "All I did was say that lynching was sad! And then I asked my friends for help! Why is that so wrong? Somebody help me!" "He's asking for help again," somebody whispers. "Knock him on the head and push him in the river." "I just knew you would all do this to me!" Petey continues. "I wasn't acting weird! Why me? I don't want to die! I'm not a poor player, I make plenty of money! Who will catch fish for you when I'm gone?" "Um, me." Edgar says. "You're all just jealous of my sexy panda body!!" Petey screams, "A dick is a dick. I'm just paranoid and sensitive and careful and sad and sensitive!" "There there now, Petey," Firuz Fox says as he works his way through the crowd. "Your friend needs comfort during this trying time." "You just relax. Have a comforting cup of cocoa." Firuz says, gently. "Oh thank you, Firuz," Petey Panda says. "Sorry I freaked out. I'm calm now. I'm just so sad. I'm going to miss playing with all of my friends. That's what suck about these games...of life. I can't stand to see us standing around lynching each other." Shawna Sheep tries to be re-assuring. "At least you don't have to see anybody be lynched," She offers. "That's something, isn't it Paul?" "Aw, poor sad penguin," Carly adds. "I'm not a penguin and my name's not Paul," Petey Panda yells. "My name is Petey Pan..." And then he abruptly stops and goes rigid. "Petey Pan?" Someone asks, "The boy who never grew up? That's you??" Petey Panda falls limp into the river and floats downstream. "Is he dead?" Marcellus the Monk asks. "Firuz, did you poison him?" "Someone had to do something," Firuz answers. "You all would've been here discussing how to kill him until morning..." Night One has begun. There is a 24 hour Night Action deadline, so get them in ASAP!

I get the concept and I understand the definition of the term, Nick. I'm just having trouble figuring out how my camera does anything manually. Lisa, am I stupid? Or is my camera actually fighting being controlled manually? I see no manual settings in the menu. Every focus is auto. I guess I need some basic instruction from you. I'm feeling rather dense.

I don't see a butterfly in your lesson. Am I looking in the wrong spot?

While I've always been able to achieve this effect, it's always hit or miss. I'm not sure how to manually control where the focus is. Any advice? I'm using a Sony DSC-H10.

Interlude It's the late morning. Gordon Gorilla is trudging home after falling asleep tanning while wonderful smells fill the air. The Bakery had been vacant since Kenda Cat disappeared so Portia Poodle takes some of her groceries down to the bakery and fills the Village Square with the inviting and comforting smells of bread, cakes and pastries. It does a lot to boost the Villagers' morale and several people come to fill their grumbling bellies with a late morning treat. The reviews come in quickly. "Your pies suck, Portia," Someone says. "How could something that smells so great taste so awful?" Another person asked. "Don't do us any more favors, please," Yet another person requests. As everyone tries to politely dispose of their snacks, Mindy Mouse runs by with a basket of fish, attempting to save them. "They're transient beings!" Mindy shouts. "0, their knot tranent beans," Pennie Pigs scoffs as Mindy disappears down the road. Meanwhile, in the Village Square, Cameron Cockodile, Baxter Bulldog and Casey Cat are repairing the Village's beautiful fountain. At least, that's what they should be doing. Becka Bulldog exfoliates Cameron's scales. "Exfoliate is a better word than polish," Cameron Cockodile admits. "I don't have that word accessible since I'm not gay." Baxter Bulldog, Casey Cat and Seamus Sheepdog are engaged in a three-way butt check after all the talk about worms today. A four-way throat clearing interrupts all activity. Four angry spouses stand in a row, glaring at the naughty animals. You may now vote. The day will last for 48 more hours. The person with the most votes at the end of that time will be lynched.
