  1. Excellent idea. They should do this when they finally get around to doing a new Vader mold.
  2. Looks like a formula one car to me....
  3. Always good to see more Aussies around.
  4. Anyone else think this would be a cool place to display vintage Lego car sets? ;)
  5. Holy crap that's awesome.
  6. Just buy the Planet Series 4 mini Snowspeeder to get a gunner :)
  7. A young boy and his dad were looking at the Lego section the other day and I overheard the dad say "Now remember, you've saved up $35 so that's what you can spend". The kid was debating over 2 small city sets (it's Australia, the Octan tanker is $30!) so I picked up the 9466 Monster Fighters set and told the dad "this one is on clearance for $36" and the kid's eyes lit up "That's huge!! Dad, dad can I borrow a dollar?!" "Sure you can" "You're the best dad ever. I'll get mum to pay you back when we get home" LOL
  8. I'll second what everyone else said: the x wing, tie and a wing are all awesome. I love the original trilogy and now is a great time to collect the iconic ships from those films. I'm almost done building the Falcon, it's brilliant too.
  9. As long as he's playing the song from the original cut of ROTJ and not the horrible "Jedi Rocks", I'll be happy!
  10. I've gotten in the habit of buying a second set of stickers from bricklink whenever I get a new set. Makes me care less about screwing up applying them!
  11. Holy crap I had forgotten about The Magic Portal! That was one of my favorites as a kid, they used to play it frequently on SBS.
  12. Girlfriend just bought me a black 16 fig case, which is now full of SW minifigs. These things are great!
  13. Awesome it's Time Cruisers R2!
  14. I really hope that they redesign the DeLorean in the BTTF set, it could look so much better than it does.
  15. Just got one of these for my girlfriend (who loves pandas but only really collects minifigures) and the smile on her face was worth far more than the $13 I spent. I'm really hoping this gets her hooked on building :)
  16. I quite like this one, got it last week. Snowspeeder: 10/10 Probe droid: 9/10 Snow bike: 9/10 Satellite dish: 8/10 Big gun: 7/10 Trench thingy: 4/10 Minifigs: 8/10 Luke is great, Rieekan is awesome, love the snowtroopers and tauntaun but I would have liked a gunner for the snowspeeder.
  17. The second Technic supercar from 1999 (?)
  18. Finally found some series 10 in my local shop, picked up 8 of them for my girlfriend, including a Medusa. No Mr Gold in the box though!
  19. I found it hard at first but IMHO it's much easier with a pic to reference, say on your phone or even the display box art. For most figs you only need to identify one part.
  20. 1999 (14) to 2013 (28) for me! I remember being very underwhelmed by the stuff that was coming out at the time, the Star Wars stuff looked okay but seeing it up close was a big disappointment. Nothing in the Technic line looked particularly interesting to me (apart from the red supercar, which was waaaay more expensive than the 8880 supercar I already had) and I thought the Slizer stuff was absolute rubbish. The next year I took up guitar which made music and record collecting my number 1 hobby. Despite checking in occasionally to the Lego aisle whenever I visited the shops, nothing grabbed my attention. All I saw were more <insert that tiresome argument> pieces, less and less Technic, and some really awful looking licensed sets. This year though I got my girlfriend hooked on Collectable Minifigs, thanks to buying her one randomly from the "impulse items" at Target. In one of our searches for them I picked up the 9493 X wing and was blown away by how much better it looked than the old Star Wars sets. Since then I've bought about 8 original trilogy Star Wars sets, a Technic dirtbike and all of the Shell Ferrari sets. I really don't want to get into any other lines (like modulars!!) as I don't have enough money!!
  21. Come to Australia, Collectable Minifigs are $5 each here!
  22. Got the 7965 Falcon from Amazon. $165 shipped sure beats the $250 retail price we have in Australia, and that's if you can even find one!
  23. I was sort of interested in it as an exclusive but didn't want to pay Australian Lego Store prices to get what basically looks like "Boy Scout Leader" Han..
