I really like that you re-created the Beach House in LDD. And even fixed so the mail was in the mailbox Is it re-created exactly like the original 4996, or was some pieces missing in LU mode? -
I have no idea what mini-mod badness, bad alldarker etc means, but sorry for posting in the wrong forum. I thought I found the right one, but missed the "Star Wars sets anyone". It's the second time I messed up in the SW forum - feel like a complete noob. I better stay away.

I think the issue with the minifig head has been discussed here (along with some other problems with the new palette): http://www.eurobricks.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=40468 Anyway, all the issues have been reported to the LDD dev team, but I don't know when they will be fixed. The proposal about the name of colors in the palette is a good one.

@ JunkstyleGio: Just got back from out of town, so I didn't see your post until now. The problem was that the liftarms of the chassis was not spaced correctly - there was a small gap indicating that the entire trailer chassis wasn't "pushed together" tighlty (it would have been so easy to spot and remidy with physical bricks . Anyway, see picture below. If you close the gap, it will all work. LDD is pretty stringent about not allowing connection of bricks that are not supposed to connect, and personally think its actually a neat feature.

Hi Darkhoodness Firstly - Great to see another LDD fan joining in the discussion! Welcome. And I think your analysis of LDD and the intended usage, and hence the limitations and restrictions are spot on. Regarding the above quote - can you please give some examples of the problems you are experiencing with collision errors. There are a few bricks I know have collisions errors, but personally I have discovered that many of these "collision errors" are simply that LDD is quite strict in enforcing Lego Legal buildint principles (Check out the LDD Index thread - there is a link to a very nice document there). Also, as a side note, could you please make the images your posts a bit smaller - just to conserve realty space. Thanks! PS: Adding LXF-files for others to download gives you a golden star in my book! -

About This post contains some info on the color availability in LDD Universe Mode and instructions how to get access to an extended palette including Lime, Old Gray, Sand Red, Maersk Blue etc. Backgrounder LDD actually supports all Lego colors, also the OLD that are no longer in production, such as Old Brown, Old Grey etc. It’s just that you won’t find them in the Color Palette Tool – but they are there, under the hood. In LDD are also several NEW/UNKNOWN colors that are not in production but can be found in the Color Palette Tool. These have Lego Color ID’s ranging from 321 to 326. If these colors are Lego internal colors intended for LU designers working with Digital Media, or are hints of new colors for upcoming sets, I don’t know. For us LDD users they are pretty useless for now as there are no physical bricks in those colors. And finally, LDD also supports CURRENT colors even if they are missing in the color Palette Tool. Examples of this include Lime. The workaround to get access to these colors has been discussed here at the forum before, but instructions are below as well.. What it adds up to So, what does all this mean, and how can I access and use all the colors? To simplify your life, read the instructions and download the attachment below. How to use the LXF-reference file: 1. Download the file below 2. Open the Color reference LXF-file. 3. Copy one or more bricks with the colors you want to use. 4. Open the LXF you want to work on (or create a new one). 5. Paste the brick and then use Color Picker Tool to copy the colors. For quick access to colors, you can also use this cool tip Q&A Q: Why should I care about exactly what color I apply. If I want a Light Blue color, can’t I just use any of the light blue colors that look right? A: Well, you could. But if you ever want to order the physical bricks and build your model, than you need to be more precise. And I guess also it’s just good practice to use the right color The download The attached zip-file contains: 1) Color Chart LXF-file with all colors, from which you can copy them as described above. 2) An excel sheet with the LDD colors names and corresponding BrickLink colors. Some examples: - Not allowed to put stickers that cover multiple bricks - Bricks must be connected - Not use bricks that will required to much force for a kid to put in place, i.e. a putting a 6x16 plate on another 6x16 plate. - Not use too many simultaneous studs connections, for example using a 4x12 plate as the final top piece on a house, which would require aligning 28 studs. Instead use three 4x4 plates. - Must withstand being played with (if not a show piece). - Minimize part type count. For example instead of one 4x4 plate and two 2x4, use three 2x4 - Not use modded parts (sawed, cut etc) - No clone brands (obviously) To name a few....

Well, yes that was the "floating" solution that I was talking about, but it's not Lego legal. And the stability will be OK, but not top notch. Look at the wheels holder plate and how it will hold up. Not good. Actually, the whole underside needs to be strenghtend to become Lego approved. So there are still at least three other ways to do it. Keep up the good work, and keep trying. If there is anyone else here at EB that wan'ts go give it a go, please do so.

First, you're on the right track, that's one solution. Naturally another is not to use the "1x1 brick with vertical pin" at all, just letting the upside down pieces "float" interlocked inside the other bricks. That's a clever solution in one sense. But...it's not a Lego Legal building principle, so in my book it's not allowed. I strive to design models that Lego would say "Yes, we can put that in production - It's Lego Legal, it can withstand being played with, it can be built by a kid, it looks good and it only uses molds currently in production". Putting those constraints makes designing models much more difficult, and that's what I like. Getting back to the Mack Truck - the problem with the solution in your LXF is that the back of the truck will look bad because the striping will be interrupted. Also, since you're using 1x4 tile, the stability will suffer. So, you need to come up with a solution that 1) allows striping all around, 2) ensures that the upside down parts are connected to the rest of the truck in some way that is Lego legal and 3) is sturdy enough. Now, the solution in your LXF IS Lego Legal, but then it was that thing with the striping . There are at least three other solutions. Keep trying and let's keep in touch.

@the crazy one - but if people have those massive signature, many of us have to turn them off to follow the thread discussion. That's the problem. And then we miss exactly what you're pointing out - intetersing and good links/pics in the more modest signatures. -

I think Siegfrieds signature is the maxium size. Anything over that is to large. I also think all text in a Signature should be italic and of one font size. This to make it easy distinguisable from the post text. It's kind of funny I suppose (hope no one gets offended), but with all the avatars, badges and signatures with colors, fonts, sizes and pictures in every possible direction, sometimes if feels like you're watching Borat's webpage. -
If you could post the ID of the bricks you mean, preferably with a link to BrickLink or Peeron, that would be helpful, or which of the Atlantis sets. Thanks everyone for your nice comments. ! I can also add that: - All models are designed purely with Lego legal principles. i.e. only the ones allowed to the Lego designers in Billund - I strive to make the cars and boats playable, i.e. will hold together also when my kids play with them. The challange is to get something that looks good AND is sturdy. - I use only recently produced colors and common parts - no super rares ones. @ samurai turtle: Yeah, the color chart had been posted before, but it was buried so deep down in another thread, I wanted to post it again in my own MOC thread. @ ILikePi: yes, asterixes means the color is discontiuned

A tip to reduce the total height of the Signature could be to place any text to the side of the pics, like in Siegfrieds signature. But then the question: How do you do that? Table in HTML? -
