  1. That is true, no Human outshoots a Forestman, but mayhaps you have forgotten the skill of the Elves? Your prowess in the gladiator games was most impressive, having been defeated only by an automated behemoth, but the Elven Rangers are second to none with a longbow, and intend to demostrate this at the tournament.
  2. Thanks Z and Thanks MikeyB! I agree that we have a lot of solid entries this round. I am glad I finished my embassy when I did, because I have been SO busy with work lately. I have only had time ot look at about 3 entries from the last 3 days. I'm happy to bring some gold coins to Avalonia through the Gladiator Games (and thank goodness for my lucky rolls ) I look forward to defeating this mysterious opponent on the internet, and I can't wait to hear what the next challenge will be!
  3. This is a beautiful Embassy! I love the way the roof slopes all the way to the ground, and the sheer amount of dk green in this build screams Avalonia. Very inventive building, I really like the balconies inside and the chandelier (I've been meaning to do this with my Dwarf build someday). Very nice MOC as usual!
  4. What a Wonderful idea! This is a perfect Mitgardian festival. I agree that these civilian/cultural MOCs add a ton to their respective Guild. i really like the little boats too. Great job!
  5. It appears that the Dwarven craftsmanship of this War Golem was magnificent, as advertised! The Elves will be investing in these for their army - although it might not have been wise of them to exhibit all the strengths and weaknesses of the Golem for the Drow.... What have they done! Now the Drow must surely know how to defeat these Automatons. The Elves have shown their hand, and the Drow will be prepared. The Elves must reconsider their plans... Great contest Angeli! I loved your descriptions for all of the fights. Thanks for putting in all the effort and supplying the loot. I was also impressed with the variety of contestants that entered. Happy Drow Valentine's Day?
  6. This is incredible! I love your SW Mocs. So much detail, and such a great recreation. Amazing!
  7. This is just beautiful. You've done an amazing job with the Kaliphlin building styles and colors. I love the bazaar, and I love the story in the form of a letter. This is such a polished MOC, I love it! I agree, this is one of the best Embassies so far!
  8. I think that the prices are definitely skyrocketing as of the last 5 years, but Lego has in turn been producing nicer high end sets (Modular city, Diagon Alley, Medieval Market Village) and brand new molds all over the place (Collectible Minifigs ) and I think the three are related. I think that the new Jabba's palace is a BEAUTIFUL set with great new figs, but I don't think we ever would have seen something of this caliber had the prices not risen. I think you do get screwed on the low end - (BPs jumping 10% every two years, and a $25 skiff) but I also think that this goes hand in hand with higher end sets (UCS Falcon and UCS Shuttle) and tons of new figs and molds. You can't have one without the other.
  9. WOW! The big window looks great, I can't imagine how long it took you to get those in place. The floor and the side windows are amazing! I may need to borrow the side windows for my church when I eventually build it. The lighting is well done too - Great job!
  10. You've gotta visit a ton of garage sales to find Legos, they can be found but they are rare. The best thing to do is visit Craigslist constantly. That is where I've had the best luck.
  11. I too am to the point where I can't afford to Bricklink for a little while. I dropped at least $100 on each on the first two contests, and I've been buying parts for miscellaneous builds to come as well. I am loathe to tear down my Embassy, but it has some key parts that I will need to build my next big MOCs. I'm trying to come up with small MOCs, but I can only think of big ways to do them. I think I am going to try a few indoor - interior only builds, which theoretically would be much simpler to build... we'll see about that. I have been trying to focus my BL orders on universal pieces though - I figured the tree parts for my Embassy would be useful for tons of things, and I went from having 10 1x1 modified bricks with 1 stud to about 400 now in assorted colors, which I hope to start using in traditional Avalonian buildings.
  12. You caught that, eh? I didn't notice it until it was too late. I usually catch those things before I post, but not this time. Gabe: When I start Bricklinking for my next contest build or my Albion build, I will pick up some hull pieces. I do have some ideas for larger vessels, but my collection of hull pieces is rather light at present.
  13. I could really see parts of Nocturnus looking like this. The skeleton horse rider reminded me of a Sleepy Hollow-esqe flavor, and I really like it. The windows and frames are very well done, and I really like the top of the roof, the fencing out to the road, and I think the use of the mini-Golems is Brilliant! Very nice MOC - it will be a great addition to Avalonia!
  14. I Really like this build. The building is very well done, especially that upper section with all the windows. I like the red roof, it goes well with this color scheme. There is a lot going on here, a nice story, and a lot of great details. Excellent MOC!
  15. You've done a great job on this MOC. How has this not gotten more comments? I think maybe everyone's focused on Embassies right now. I love the what you've done with your rock face there. Very original. I also really like the tower and the shrine. Just a good solid MOC overall, good landscaping, nice border, lots of activity and original character, Nice job!
  16. You've done a great job on this MOC! I really like the road leading up to the tower, the bridge is very well done, and there's a lot of stuff going on here. I really like the story. This seems like something out of the Redridge Mountains in WoW. Love it!
  17. Quite the collection of 1x1 plates I see . Well I think you hit the nail right on the head. This definitely looks Avalonian with a spice of Kaliphlin. I agree that the upper floor beams are beautifully done. The tree is great, as is the landscaping around the building. Very nice MOC!
  18. I agree, this is definitely the way to get ideas flowing. I usually have no shortage of ideas, it's just that I can never get the bricks to do what I need for said ideas. Half of my MOCs usually come from looking through my collection, and considering every piece for one usage - i.e. the landscaping on my Embassy. I knew exactly what I wanted with the water, but I had no clue what to put for foliage until I started looking through my pieces.
  19. Indeed. I have friend's that live close to yours, but it's a 5-6 hour drive, and a good 2.5 - 3 hours to the Chicago suburb location - although there is a Lego store and a non-lego store within half a mile of each other, and they each have PAB walls, with different pieces, so it is usually worth a visit.
  20. Lego just announced that there opening a new store IN MY TOWN! It will be less than 5 miles away! I will be making so many excuses to visit that mall, and probably blowing my paychecks on the PAB wall. So Excited!
  21. Wow! This is enormous! I can only imagine how much you spent on BL for this. I love the dome, it is beautiful. I also like a lot of the details, like the windows and the mosaics. Great job!
  22. I love it. Amazing again. All of the brickwork is fantastic, and the color scheme is great. Simply amazing.
  23. I eagerly await an appearance in one of your MOCs Z!
  24. I don't know how I missed this when you posted it, but I saw Z's reference to your letter and went searching. I like your use of Kaliphlin as your location, and I think you've done a great job of capturing the locale. I really like the tower, and I love the windows and the stones over your door and window. The letter is a stroke of genius. Great MOC!
