  1. I cannot wait to see this feast! I would love to send an Elven emissary if you would welcome one. I love the owl roasting and the owls and parrots hanging form the wall. This is just such a great scene. It just fully embraces the comedic and I love seeing these posts!
  2. I started posting with Flickr pictures instead of Brickshelf today since nothing is showing up. I know Brickshelf goes down every so often, so I might stick with Flickr from now on.
  3. The residents of Bruluum Harbor would welcome an infusion of inter-guild culture. If you have any questions, just PM me. If you're Embassy goes up before I have to tear down My mini of the town, I will try to add it first.
  4. Lol! Thanks for the bump Niku. Thanks for the comments Ska, Niku and Roboku! I had wanted to build a tree-fortress, and figured I could make it work as an embassy. I am so glad to be finished with this challenge! I enjoyed building it, but it's been taking up all my building time for the last month and a half. There's always something to add, or improve, so I figured I would post it once I got all my foliage from BL. Now I get to see what everyone else creates (and there are some great Embassies already.)
  5. Finally got my last BL order in today for my Embassy, and finished it up. It is located in Nocturnus, in the swamps of Moruth. Check it out! I also have a high rez gallery on Flickr, since Brickshelf appears to be down
  6. Deep in the Eastern Swamplands of Moruth, resides one of the ancient oaks of a past age. This oak has survived the great plagues that have beset the lands of Nocturnus under the watchful eyes of the Elven clans. Different clans have inhabited the oak over the years, and the current clan in residence is the Rustling Leaves Clan of Avalonia. The Oak has long served as a meeting point with the inhabitants of Nocturnus who need the assistance of the elves. Over the past centuries, Nocturnus has fallen into darkness, and the ancient Oak has been forgotten by the Nocturnii. It is quite a site to behold for those few that happen upon it. The fortress built into the heart of the tree, was built in the style of Old Dallaenus, as shown on the exterior of the fortress. The swamps long ago flooded this land, and the Ancient Oak is the last remnant of richer, healthier times. The surrounding land is populated by indigenous swamp species of flora and fauna. Once the land became flooded, the elves built a pier beneath the Oak, to allow access to the fortress. There is a stairway up to the fortress that can be raised in times of trouble. The first floor is where guests are seen and issues addressed. Varis has traveled to the Ancient Oak, so that he may ascertain the situation in Nocturnus, and the recent activities of the Drow. He is currently meeting with one of the Dwarven clans, a representative of the Reptilians, one of the Minotaur tribes and an Orc Warlord. The minotaur bodyguards are awaiting their leader in the entry room. The standard of the Rustling Leaves Clan adorns the wall in the entry room. The Orcs and Dwarves also brought contingents, who await them in the antechamber. Varis is meeting with the various representatives, discussing the potential alliances and actions that may be undertaken. Altaris, the commander of the fortress, watches as the discussion ensues. The 2nd floor of the fortress consists of living chambers for the elven inhabitants, and provides access to the balcony. The balcony has a small garden, with a statue of Dallaenus, the great Elven Lord who founded this fortress. The Ancient Oak has provided a great outpost for the Elves, from which they have been able to once again establish tentative ties with the inhabitants of Nocturnus. The Elves hope to reverse the present course of death and destruction that runs rampant among many of the lords and ladies of this land, and someday eradicate plague that is the Drow from this world once and for all. I have a high-rez (kinda) folder on Flickr since Brickshelf appears to be down.
  7. I've got an order I've been waiting on since November. All the comments say the shipping takes forever and comments keep getting posted from bricklink order numbers before mine. Waiting....
  8. Derfel pulled a willow off, but I've never seen close up pictures of how he did it. I believe it was in Durnovaria http://www.eurobricks.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=63861
  9. Bruluum Harbor would welcome any foreign emissaries to their small port if they wish to establish an embassy. http://www.eurobricks.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=64885 (Brickshelf doesn't seem to be working right now, so you can check out some low rez pics on my flickr page.) http://www.flickr.com/photos/29025875@N06/
  10. I love how a lot of us are going to end up with fifty or a hundred of one piece, that we may not use again. I myself ordered 50 lime green cheese slopes for my embassy, among other things that are slightly more usable in future MOCs
  11. The unseely (I think that's how it's spelled) Phantoms/Fantoms Darkeners Chillwraiths...
  12. Wow, I love the bridge, and I like the tower. I myself have been trying to figure out some alternative tree ideas. I like the willow, but I think the bley hinges are just too blocky. Black hinges, might fit in better, I'm not sure. I really like this MOC though, thanks for posting it!
  13. This is a Beautiful MOC! I am amazed by the interior of the ship from above, the way you have attached the upper hull. This is a pretty nice looking capital ship, and you've done a great job recreating it! Can't wait to see your future builds.
  14. This won't be a purchase for me. It's a prequel set, and while I do like the concept of the set the only thing I want is Nute. I'm disappointed in the torso printing though, maybe I only need his head/headpiece. We'll see how my Bricklinking fares. Thanks for the review!
  15. Hmmmm... I wasn't even considering buying this set, as the sand troopers would not match any of my other Stormies, and I have tons of R2s and C3POs... I really like the new sand trooper print AND the shoulder epaulet. It looked like these just had one hole and would kind of hang off the shoulder, so I was going to just avoid the set, but they really do look great. I am also a sucker for the new C3P0. If he didn't have the eyes, I wouldn't care. I don't know how he'll work with my other 3-PO units though, so we'll see on that. I'll definitely have to pick up one of these at least. Thanks for the review!
  16. I really like this MOC! It goes well with your other scene, and I really like the backpacks and the trans-blue orb in the middle. I would love to see more of these. Keep up the good work!
  17. Very nice review! I have to admit that it is a beautiful looking set, but I only buy the minifig-scale sets, so I'll have to pass on this one. I agree that the minifigs are an attempt to lure in collectors, but I wish if they were going to have new figs, they would have put in all the bounty hunters. This would have made sense for this set, and then we'd have Zuckuss and 4-LOM instead of getting hinted at them being included in sets every year and then never seeing them.
  18. Thanks for the comments! I will be receiving a BL shipment soon, so I can replace the red roofs with black ones. I wanted to build something with the pieces that I had instead of waiting on orders. This actually got built because I was watching football with my wife all day, and I wanted to work on something that required a few drawers - 2x4 bricks, gray and black 75' slopes, etc. By the time I was done though, I had a good 20 drawers and containers out in the living room, but I was pretty happy with the results. The only thing I am changing is those roofs. The black roofed buildings have tiles or shingles, while the yellow roofing is straw thatch.
  19. I can't wait to see this finished. It is a very large scale building, and I really like what you've done with the exterior so far.
  20. I'm pretty sure that the other guilds still think we are oversized. I'm not sure on the member counts, but I thought Nocturnus was still much smaller than us mine was still a somewhat broad idea, but maybe I'll actually buckle down and build it once the pieces arrive. I have lots of things I want to build, I just need to focus on the little ones, instead of spending all my time on the large scale MOCs. Derfel, any chance of any small MOC challenges? I'm not thinking of contests as much as themed builds like the Executioner and High Lord of the Elves. There wouldn't even need to be titles awarded, it would be more the challenge of building within constraints on a smaller scale than the bi-monthly contests.
  21. You are beating me to the punch again. :) I just ordered parts for a travelling carnival (very small - wagon or two) but you're way ahead of me. It has been pretty dead on the Guild forums recently. This was replacing facebook for my wok break visits, but there are times when a half a day goes by without any GoH posts. I hope it picks up again soon. I only have so much time to build, but plenty of time to post. (although phone = can't view MOCs :(
  22. This MOC is AMAZING. I was hoping to build something in the Enchanted Isles, and this is exactly the sort of thing I envinsioned (But had no clue how to build.) I am just blown away by how beautiful this MOC is. Gorgeous.
  23. C.J. - I really like the MOC. Nice use of vegetation Doorn - Great idea with the small tournament in the small town. It is a nice change from all the big tournaments we've seen, and the building adds more character to the MOC Rolli - I LOVE the base of this tower. I especially like the curve of the stairs. I can't wait to see this completed. Andonii - I'm sure we will have 10 or 20 gladiators entered from Avalonia. I will definitely be sending one, but I have to choose carefully who will best represent the Rustling Leaves Clan.
  24. Looks like a nice set. I had already planned on picking it up for the Baris and the Gree, but it looks like there is a significant number of pieces in the less common reds and browns, that I will need to pick up (not that reddish brown is uncommon, but I need more of it.) Thanks for the review!
  25. Looks like a pretty great convention. I have yet to make it to any of these myself. I love the giant MOCs. Thanks for the pics!
