  1. I will be bringing something of about 64x64 up to 100x100 stud square base size
  2. Doorn - Can't wait to see close up pics! I am planning on entering for the 3rd Challenge, but I haven't started anything yet. I've been quite busy, and had no time for MOCing lately
  3. I think there is a TON of compatibility between castle and other Lego lines, so there is a pretty wide range of torsos, heads and hairpieces to choose from, albeit a lot of the torsos would fall more into the tradesmen/guildsmen class or higher. I think the unique pieces would be the key to a great castle CM, and headgear is the way of the medieval future, IMO. New accessories would be nice, but I think new headgear would add enormous variety to the common folk. Here are some thoughts I had one some of the ideas presented: Bard with a lute or lyre, and with one of these types of headgear http://www.starcostumes.com/lgimages/RS3504-10.jpg http://www.revivalclothing.com/ProductImages/sockHat_BlueTweedWool.jpg http://www.revivalclothing.com/ProductImages/acornHat_OrangeWool_2.jpg http://images.costumes.net/robin-hood-hat.jpg Shepherd,(female) with a cane and lamb, and a new dress and torso. I would like to see some nice headgear worked in with this fig as well such as one of these http://www.revivalclothing.com/ProductImages/barbette_hat_0009.jpg http://www.revivalclothing.com/images/products/display/vikinghood_WhiteLinen_display.jpg http://www.revivalclothing.com/ProductImages/thumbnails/wimple_small.jpg Monk or Druid with a tome and new walking staff piece, with a hood neck piece that would be down in back, or http://www.revivalclothing.com/images/products/display/hood_BurgundyWool_display.jpg http://www.revivalclothing.com/linencoif.aspx I would also like to see a new more warrior-esque female figure - like the female forestman, or In terms of tools, we already have hammers, picks, shovels, knives, hatchets, brushes, pots and pans... most things are already covered. Although musical instruments are usually one-use per MOC, we already have a flute and bagpipes, and we still need the 3 other iconic medieval instruments - the lyre, lute and horn. the staves and tome would be usable with more figs, as would the lamb. IMO, LEGO has done a stellar job thus far with Castle CMs. The Elf alone is such a huge addition. The Minotaur is amazing, and the new dwarf is also excellent. The Valkyrie and Highlander are both nice figs that, while limited in utility, are both very cool The Witch I could do without, while I am excited for the new armor and shield of the Evil Knight, but these two both have very good mass appeal - like the generic outlaw and the generic space characters. I also say look to the Monster Hunters line! There are some great new figs coming that are very usable in medieval MOCs, assuming you go for the Supernatural.
  4. Very nice MOC! I would love to see a straight on shot of the wall (even though there is an angled shot). I really like the border along the bottom. Great job!
  5. (I'm sure this has already been said, but....) I would definitely buy an OT Star Wars Chess set, but probably not a prequel set. It would also depend on the quality of the chess set - I'm not going to buy C-3PO pawns, or just re-releases of existing figs, but I would love to see a higher end chess set ($250ish) with actual bases, and maybe even some new figs...? Edit: I also didn't realize that this thread was 4 years old.
  6. This is AWESOME! I Love it!!! You've done a great job with the Ewok, and the scene is great too. This is fantastic!
  7. Derfel - that is simply amazing. I look forward to seeing all the details. Beerbeard - I look forward to seeing your Disney style. Meph - I like the Executioner build. Very good MOC with only a few pieces!
  8. Great job everyone! It's nice to see those free builds pay off! I think we were in second or third until this round of free builds.
  9. I know the scoring is split up into 3 categories, and I think they fall along these general lines (but don't quote me on this) 1: originality, style and overall guild-ishness 2: Building technique 3: Presentation (including photography) I know the criteria has changed as the guild has grown, but there has been talk in the different guild forums at different times about what the builds are judged on. As MikeyB said, the scoring criteria has not been laid out specfically, and the free builds are much more ...free... , So you can build whatever you like.
  10. Nice build! I like the cathedral and the church and the distinctiveness of each district. Some great ideas here!
  11. This is a beautiful Micro-scale build. I really like your piece usage for trees and plants, and the palace is original as well. I like the 1x1 round plate towers as well. I think the best thing though is the base for all of this, the way you have created roads and parks and lawns. Excellent work!
  12. You've done an amazing job here! So many details within the micro-scale. I love the towers and the palace and the houses... pretty much everything. Great MS!
  13. I love all the activity, again, in this build. You have a very nice clean design for the exterior of the wall. I'm not sure of your use of pirate figs though....
  14. Great job on this! I love uniformity to the front, and the details for the alcoves. I also like all the activity on the inside, but I'm inclined to agree with Beerbeard in that the back ends of the interior plates have nothing going on. Maybe some balconies on the interior courtyard? Just a thought.
  15. I really like the windows, and the way you've utilized the different colors to show more of a patchwork. I agree that the only thing that needed work was the roof, but you've done a nice job with it on the 2nd pic. You can either utilize some reverse slopes under the roof slopes (which can lead to a very thick roof) or maybe put plates parallel on the end of the roof piece, with the sides parallel to the angle of the roof. I like the addition of the balcony!
  16. This is beautiful! I LOVE the cheese slope window in the top, and the curved 1x1 round/2x2 brick technique - they both look gorgeous! Then of course there are the great floor details, the front pillars, the ninja star technique. You've packed a ton into a small model, and a bunch of original building ideas to boot! Great build!!!
  17. Sorry I didn't vote in time guys. There was really nice work on the myths - although I'm surprised there weren't more entries (like I'm one to talk). Thanks for sponsoring this contest SI-Mocs! Very generous! Mikel - I really like your tower - nice use of... whatever that round gray piece is. I didn't see an individual post, hence the commenting here.
  18. Nice build! Nice foliage, and I am intrigued by the shifty halfling. I would love to see where the story goes from here.
  19. I've commented on way too much in one day (sorry about that folks) but I tried to comment in order, except this one, hence the bump.
  20. I LOVE this vignette. The story is great, and the scene is beautiful, with the moon and star in the background - nice use of perspective. It's too bad this wasn't done it time, as the story seems very original so far... Would love to at least hear the rest of the story. I might post my own myth too, once I complete it.
  21. Great job on this! I love all the sig-figs in attendance. You've really portrayed a gala event. I am sorry that Varis was otherwise occupied (should have posted my sig-fig earlier )The beer cart is great, as is the chapel in the background. As usual, your foliage is top notch, and I really like the pond. Excellent build yet again!
  22. I love this build! The wyrm idea is brilliant, and you've done a great job of conveying it here. I really like the Wyrm erupting out of the sand. Excellent MOC! (I was considering throwing a myth together on the last day, but I just clicked on one to get an idea what was being built, and it happened to be yours. I thought to myself "never mind, I can come up with a myth, but not that caliber of build." Upon seeing more of the builds, I was definitely right.)
  23. I love this tale! It was very amusing, as your builds usually are. I really like the monster, as well as the room with all the gold. I especially like your patterning along the walls. Great build!
  24. Very creative. I love the sun and moon concept. You've done a very nice job of portraying a more mythical tale. Very nice job of integrating the most important things in Kaliphlin.
  25. Some nice window and roofing techniques on this build. I really like the main door. The use of the arches for non-windowed walls is a great idea - I might have to try that. nice build! It's always nice to see new building techniques.
