I've never commented on the large scale fig builds like this, because I prefer the minifig scale, but I LOVE the Mynock. You've done an amazing job with it. Excellent work!

Another great MOC deGothia! I really like your 4 different window styles, especially the sunken windows and the propped shutters. I also really like the little inner courtyard. I love all the different things you've done with this build!

Very nice tavern! I love the stonework in the road. I also really like the cellar door. I would love to see an interior on this. Good work!

This is another great Warhammer-esque build. Amazing as usual. The turquoise roof looks beautiful, I love the stream and the grate, the cellar door, the chimneys, the trees and the border of the build. Your bricking, panelling and windows are awesome, as always. Gorgeous Build!

I will be attending Brickworld. I will be driving down there, so I will have not problem bringing something larger.

Here is how my thought process worked for guild selection: Kaliphlin - I like the desert theme, but I would not want to be limited to desert only MOCs, plus I own no PoP sets. Nocturnus - Swamps and mountains with a labyrinth - again I can think of some cool builds for each of these, but I would not want to be limited to swamp MOCs. Mountain MOCs would be fine, but the guild just had more of an evil tinge to it, and my character always tend to be lawful good or chaotic good . So that brings it down to Avalonia and Mitgardia. The Camelot theme of Avalonia did not appeal to me, and I was inches away from declaring for Mitgardia, because I really like the rugged northern climes - forests, snow, glaciers, etc. As I was putting together my sigfig to post, I realized that I would have a really hard time incorporating yellow and green into my builds. Yellow = hay/thatching in my book, and I almost never want to use it for my buildings. Green I have in abundance, but I'm always using it for foliage and landscaping, and I prefer to use different colors for my buildings. Plus I still think of green as a being a scarce color among standard pieces (even though I know it's pretty common now.) At this point, I went back through and reviewed the guilds again. I'll have to admit that I loved Derfel's building guide, and this made me take a harder look at Avalonia (although at this point, I hadn't seen any builds by the other guild leaders.) Then I saw it: Elves! Avalonia has Elves! They are not explicitly mentioned in the other guilds, and I associate Dwarves with Mitgardia and Nocturnus, and Drow with Nocturnus, but Avalonia is home to the Elves. (I cannot tell you how unbelievably excited I had been when I saw that Lego had an Elf fig in Series 3, and made so many visits to TRU and Bricklink to find Elves.) This was what pushed me over the edge into Avalonia - I could use my Elves, and I really liked Derfel's building style, so that's where I went. I think that the Camelot theme appeals to a lot of people, as do the Elves, Forestmen, and yes the forests. I would expect Nocturnus to be the lowest populated guild, because I would think the Swamp/Dark lands theme would be less popular, but there would be a small core that would love it. I also think there is a lot of grey area for a Nocturnus building style since it could be more Tim Burton/Sleepy Hollow, or Southern U.S./Bayou or more volcanic/lava/mountainous, or even just villainous lair/fortress. I would expect Kaliphlin and Mitgardia to compete for 2nd, since Mitgardia is still your typical forested - Medieval European landscape - exactly what I would envision for a castle theme, and the desert theme would provide a nice alternative to the greener landscapes. Additionally, PoP came out recently, and Tan bricks are pretty common. Also, the building style is very stylized, and I can picture exactly the style I would use if I were building in Kaliphlin. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- In terms of membership participation - (sorry this post just keeps going on forever) - I'm guessing we have a few levels of involvement: - Members who posted initially, but will never post a MOC again - Members that will be reading the forums regularly, but only post when there is a roll call (they may rarely post a MOC, but they are still enjoying the forums) - Members who will consistently create an entry for each challenge, but not much else. - Active members that post at least a MOC a month, and/or post at least weekly on the forums. I would not be opposed to some cleaning of house with the guild memberships, since there are a lot of people that posted initially with Avalonia that I have never seen another post from. Beerbeard just asked for sigfig posts in Avalonia so we know who is still active. I think this is a great idea, since it lets you know who's still paying attention. I would say as long as members will still post for a roll call, they should still be included in the guild. I for one, would be open to creating a sig-fig for another guild, but I know this would split my time, and there would be numerous reasons to not allow this.(I hope I'm not opening up a can of worms here..

I think mini-challenges are meant to improve your building skills and provide comparable builds for members to critque and compare. You are building to display your builds, and if you're lucky - get a title too. Mini-builds are determined by your guild leader, and they would be the ones having to buy prizes to give out (I would think). Some guilds have had numerous mini-challenges and some have not. I, for one, would not want to limit mini-challenges by requiring prizes for them. The big challenges are where the prizes are at, and this makes sense to me since the entire guild participates, and it requires a substantial quality build to be competetive. In terms of first challenge scoring, the top 5 towers and free builds from each guild were scored, and that is where the gold coins for the guilds have come from (I think there may have a been a few more coins from other things, but I'm not sure.) The scoring mechanics have never been revealed in detail, and I'm not sure how much they will be revealing with this. There was a lot of discussion over the top 5 towers for each guild after they were revealed last round, which I think is why the guild leaders will now be giving points for all the embassies entered. They didn't pick 5 entries from each guild this round because the builds are all so varied, and can be very difficult to compare and rank. I'm guessing they will only be revealing the top 5 for the guild and I think they are planning on revealing a bit more about the scoring and free-building challenges, but I'm not sure. Remember too that this is a work-in-progress, and it will get smoother with each challenge. Even though this isn't too clear, I hope it clears things up for you a bit. -

Thanks again for all for the congrats! I know that my Albion build is going to be big, time-consuming and costly. That's why I haven't started on it yet. I would like to build other things for Albion, but I wasn't sure if that would be OK. Plus, I have friends coming in this weekend, so I will have no building time until next week, so it's not like I could get something up that soon anyway. Plus, there's a 3rd challenge coming up.... so much to build, so little building time . I too have been skulking around the forums all day hoping to hear the 3rd challenge revealed. -

My MOC index caught some eyebrows I guess . MikeyB, I had passed your PM along earlier, but then got promoted, and forgot to go back and fix them myself. They are taken care of though. You're the only person that's PMed me, so maybe the rest are correct (I can only HOPE I was that accurate.) -

I did immediately check the original Watto on Bricklink, planning to include him in my previous post, and was surprised to see he is still at $35. I could be wrong, but I will probably unload my GGs anyway JIC. -

Rob - when I found that spanner, I said to myself "Viola." And I agree that Angeli will disagree. VP - I'm intrigued... what will the Assassin's Guild be up to next I wonder. Very excited to hear challenge 3, I'm thinking maybe our 4th challenge may build off our own personal 3rd challenge? Just a thought. -

I'm collecting them to use in builds. I would rather use the newer - better looking ones. I have gotten burned on a couple of these - snow troopers, endor troopers - but I've managed to sell them before they lost too much value. I think I lost about $2.00 a piece on these, but I was able to pick up more figs anyways (buy at $10 per snowie = 32 snowies, sell at $8 per snowie = $256, buy 23 bps = 46 snowies). And I disagree, they are not as collectible once the better replacements are out. Look at sebulba, snow troopers... Endor troopers have dropped $2-3 already. Watch Gammorreans. They will drop once Jabba's Palace is released. -

If you can't see the scene from the outside (Executor with bridge attached) I think a scene in a UCS is fine. Of course I don't really view the Death Star as a UCS set, even if it's called one. Even though the UCS label is used for most really big sets, I feel it is more appropriate for the highly detailed/oversized sets. The Death Star II on the other hand was a very good UCS set. I would have preferred a UCS Falcon and Imp Shuttle that actually had interiors. -
This thing is unbelievable! You've packed this space both vertically and horizontally. I LOVE all of your arches and towers. I especially love the tower with the white droid arms circling it - brilliant. This thing is amazing, and I would love to see a lot more pictures.
-
I really like this! You've done a great job with the paneling and I really like the ivy along the walls. Not a lot of gatehouses so far (Z's is the only one I can remember) and you've made an excellent one. I may have to add this to my loooong list of MOCs to make.
-
This thing is huge! You've done a great job with the walls and the panel work along the top, but I love the courtyard wall. It looks great - it's so hard to get rounded walls and features, but you've done a great job with this one. Excellent MOC!

I'm sure you realize that wagons are the main source of commercial transportation, the main mode of personal transportation for the lower classes (after walking) and the only viable form of portable habitation. Even though it's camel, camel, camel in Kaliphlin, that is not representative of the other 3 guilds. -

This is Awesome! I love the round design of the first wagon, and the tiny door on the back. I also like that the lead and tail wagons have covered seats. The monkey wagon is a great idea too. Great job with the circus here, I look forward to seeing the next build with these! Ecc - I agree. I cannot get over the fleshies. They are the worst thing to happen to Lego since Dk Bley. -

I would love to see a blind Han. That head would have a few uses outside Han too. I really like the Gamorrean guard, but I picked up lots of early SW figures that keep getting remade - making me have to replace them all. -

Too funny MikeyB. I too worked on my wagon yesterday. I didn't even consider the rounded style - I really like it! I was looking for a nice smooth design, and the curves are great on yours. I don't have the back story up yet, and I am probably at least a couple of weeks (BL orders) away from posting the final scene, but I too will give a teaser. C&C welcome! -
I really like this Shop Xyver. I had seen it before, but neglected to comment - as I wanted to read through the description first. I think your description adds a lot, and I like the layout of the shop. I like the use of Atlantis bricks, and the walkway on the side, as well as the merchandise displayed out front. I too would like to see more of an interior. I would suggest perhaps using hinges to slope the 2nd story roof, as you've done with the 1st floor. I know those corners are tough, but maybe some wedge plates may work? Nice build!

Great job with this Embassy! The terrain is great! I really like the staircase and the balcony, and the pond is very well done too. The round 1x1s are very popular with Avalonians. Excellent MOC!
