Avalonia Guild: Homepage, Sign-up and Discussion
Rogue Angel replied to Derfel Cadarn's topic in Guilds of Historica
Long have the Elves refrained from our campaign to rid the world of Drow out of respect for Avalonia and the peace of the four Guilds, but we have long prepared to end the blight that is the Drow. They shall soon feel the bite of our blades and deadly kiss of our arrows! Let the caverns flow with Drow blood! -
Avalonia Guild: Homepage, Sign-up and Discussion

Yes please! -
Nice build - I like the forced perspective and the emotional aspect. I would say that adding green baseplates on either side, so the the final green line is unbroken might enhance the effect. As it is, I can see that a 32x16 baseplate is ending. Just my thoughts.

Beautiful build again! The tower is beautiful in it's simplicity (1 color, just good use of slopes and arches and such) and I like the chains stretching to the building, and the re-inhabitation by it's previous owners. I too would like to see more close ups, but it's a gorgeous build, nonetheless! And there's always a dearth of new builds after a challenge ends, so thanks for starting off the 4th Challenge Season so well!

If I had the time and initiative, I would create a whole story line like this contest. I would love to see more creations like this.

Now I see what the Guild leaders must go through with the challenges! I had a very hard time coming up with my 5 favorites. 4: Erynlasqalyn - My favorite story 7: ZCereberus - my favorite individual build (ruined church) 10: Lisqr - tied for favorite Guardian 11: Cara - tied for favorite Guardian 33: Taz - collection of great guilds with a great guardian I have been wrestling with this for the last 24 hours, and at different times, these entries have also been in my top 5: Beerbeard, Mikel Kalores, Gabe, Basilicus and Angeli. Great work by everyone else too, there were a ton of top notch entries!

Quite the story! I love all the D&D references you make throughout the adventure, and the overall humor. I really like the druids staff, the 2 trees made with green tiles, the use of wedge plates along the river, the dunes in the desert, and all the plants in the 4th chapter (I think) - very original!

Crystal Quest Chapter 6: The Earth Crystal
Rogue Angel replied to Jason Cicchini's topic in Guilds of Historica
I really like the different chapters to the story and the way different characters joined as the story continued. I also LOVED the meeting between the Avalonian lords - Very well done! -
I was very impressed by your temple when you posted your WIP pic with the beautiful transitions from blue to white, but I was just blown away when I saw your dragon - The sword wings are a stroke of brilliance (as are the mechanics with which you attached them.) Add this to the beautiful scenery and staircase and the wonderful story and this is definitely a top 5 entry at least! Amazing!

The cracked floor is excellent! I love the insulting mummy as well as the rest of the story. I like the way your characters have very creatively used magical items to defeat the guardians. The initial part of the ice bridge looks really cool, and un-brickish. Very entertaining entry!

Round 3 Altar of the Earth Crystal
Rogue Angel replied to Captain BeerBeard's topic in Guilds of Historica
Excellent Entry BB! I really like the house, it looks very Avalonian without looking like other Avalonian builds. Your landscaping is always fantastic, and this is no different. I like the guardian, but I too look forward to seeing it apart for the scene. I like how all the other knights look very unique. Great job! -
Quest for the water crystal - The isle with no name
Rogue Angel replied to Gabe's topic in Guilds of Historica
I love your guardian - the island is beautifully built and the shell is wonderful too. You've done a great job with the lighting, it adds so much to your pictures! The uses of forced perspective are well done, and I love the throne/bed thingie. Your story is excellent as well, and I like the way you use the dream and incorporate your previous MOC. Awesome entry, once again! -
I enjoy all of your MOCs, and this one is no different. The bathroom is Very well done, and I really like the cliffs as well. I like the use of the Roc as the guardian, and I was really impressed with what I could see of the mother Roc. Great Entry!

Great entry Mikey! I really liked the story, and the way your characters have recurring roles, it really gives you a connection up front. I like that you put the hippy hair to good use (I was choosing between the hippy and the bride for the flower, but I couldn't see ANY use for the hippy - now I see what I missed) and I really like the way she is sitting - may have to use that myself. I like the sword over the fireplace, the bird and the treasure trove. Excellent job!
-
Without a doubt, one of my favorite entries. You floored me with your Embassy entry, and sadly, you've only "really impressed me" with this entry because I now expect this high of caliber from your MOCs The worm is one of my favorite guardians, and you've done a fantastic job with the lava, the stone archways into the cavern, the demon pillar itself is superb - It does indeed look like it's writhing and undulating. Stunning entry!

This city is immense! As usual, you have created another beautiful city. There are a lot of cool techniques, windows, mosaics - so much going on! I liked the story with the 3 brothers, and the sacrifice of the mother for the daughter. It has a very - greek mythology - feel to it. There is just so much in your builds. Incredible!
-
I agree, the arch work is pretty cool. You also always do a good job with your color scheme, and the story was interesting as well.

This is a great entry! The scale is immense, and the foliage is very well done. It looks completely filled with greenery without being too busy or repetitive. I really like the towers and the building that houses your guardian. The story was told well, and the fight scene was exciting, and not just a "thwack and it was dead." Good work with the guardian too. Excellent work!
-
Excellent work! The waterfall is top notch, especially the at the top where the river flows over the edge. The stalactites and stalagmites are also excellent! You pulled off what I was trying to do in my cavern, but did a far better job of it. The bridge is cool, as is the staircase. I like the way you used the new headresses as well. The story is very well written and intriguing, and I appreciate that the ape is a weaker guardian, but it portrays humanity as well. Very well done!

Nice Entry! The bar is well done, with nice little details, and a lot of character. I agree that the free-build is great! The ruined look is accomplished well without making it look run down. I will have to take a look at the free-build page to get a closer look. I really like the way you portrayed the rocks sticking out from the wall in your final scene - it works really well. Like others, I like the way you tell the tale through a bar patron. Well done!
-
Beautiful landscaping, as usual! I love the tree in the first scene, and the arch-work is wonderful! I like the flooring in the tomb, and I also like the way you incorporated the Mitgardian colors in your tomb. I have to say it again though, your grounds are fantastic! I love the pathway, and the way it transitions to the snow. Excellent job!

Thank guys! I was going for a hay/straw floor, as deGothia guessed. I chose the scenes to further the storyline, so I think that helped make them more relevant. I wasn't that happy with the stained glass window, but the lighting really improved it IMO. I acutally made the final chamber first, and then remade it completely to get the walls to fit better. All of my building time over the last month has been spent on this entry and before that I had real life getting in the way. I hope to produce some smaller builds soon, but I'm going to be working on my Albion build, and my High King of the Elves build for Brickworld next month. Thanks for pointing out the arrows BB - I'll take care of them when I get home from work tonight. (and now that I look at it, that anvil is way too big )

Adventure time! The search for the Water Crystal
Rogue Angel replied to Erynlasgalen's topic in Guilds of Historica
This is, without a doubt, the best story I have read so far in Challenge 3. It really sounds like a professional short story, and the humor is artfully done without being too over the top, or taking away from the rest of the story. Great job! The build are well done too. I really like the temple, the fountain/river through the temple and the guardian. Excellent entry! -
I LOVE your story! It is so original and unique - it's brilliant to quest in a dream. Great concept! You've also done a great job with the flowers and the dreamscape. Well done!
