So my M factors are: Series 1: 1 (probably at least 6 if I'd ever found S1 packs ANYWHERE!) Series 2: 1 (10 if I could find packs) Series 3: 30 (Elves) Series 4: 5 (Musketeer and Hazmat, do 30 Wolfman hairpieces count for anything? ) Series 5: 23 (Evil Dwarf and a few Gladiators) Series 6: 17 (Minotaurs; Legionnaires and Highlanders) Series 7: 22 (11 Space Marines, 7 Evil Knights, 4 Aztecs and an extra Valkyrie) Series 8: 18 Anticipated (7 Vampires, 5 Thespians, 3 Divers, 3 Conquistadors - This will depend greatly on my luck finding them in stores though.

LEGO Collectable Minifgures versus traditional themes?
Rogue Angel replied to Dorayaki's topic in Special LEGO Themes
It is inevitable that most CMFs can be associated with an existing theme. I believe that the goal of the CMF line is to present a selection of figures somewhat independent of the existing themes. This provides a stand alone collectible for those looking to only buy the CMFs, it gives a great starting point for those just getting into Lego, and it augments a lot of the existing themes. I don't think Lego will ever base a theme off a CMF figure(s) although there may be somethong similar (Monster Fighters) -
Yes, the price ranges from about $30 to about $70, and there is a limit on size.

You're right, I missed that one! Mods, feel free to merge mine over if you feel appropriate. Yooha, Gabe and Itaria - thanks for giving your scores - it's always interesting to see other people's methods/results. MikeyB - I'm interested to hear your results. Lightning - You are correct, this calculation method is totally not necessary. It is only for those of us that like to over-analyze things. As for your alternative methods, a couple of observations. - The amount of impact a single fig can have is based off of the maximum value, so for Yooha, the best figure (10 pts) is 2.5 times better than the worst figure (4 pts), with my system the best figure is five times better (0 value not considered) because my rating of a series is based more off of a few good figures out of each set (this also applies to giving out more 5's and 4's) - If you give every figure a minimum value of 1 (or 4 for Yooha) then this also lessens the impact of individual figs. - If you can give figures negative values (Athos system), then really bad figures can offset really good figures. I feel this is relevant if you collect the entire series as many people seem to. This is a very good way to rate the series as an entire product since I do feel that some of the reprints/repeats really detract from the CMF line. I just treat the figures I don't care about as non-existent since I only buy the ones I like. - I really like the multiple factor, as well as the a/d ratio. I'm not sure how I would apply the a/d ratio to my values, but I will definitely be determining my m-factors Thanks for your input and rankings!

Avalonia Guild: Homepage, Sign-up and Discussion
Rogue Angel replied to Derfel Cadarn's topic in Guilds of Historica
I like SoTs version of illegal building. I think stacking is OK and it has been prevalent in cheese slope use here in the guilds. Breaking and gluing would be illegal IMO and stressing is touchy because a minifig holding a tile would technically be stressing correct? Either way, Meph - your appear to have mastered cheese slope building and your stable looks beautiful! -
So I have devised a way to rank each series to determine which one I like the best, and I thought that others maybe interested in trying it as well (despite the amount of time it takes to calculate it). I have always thought that series 3 was the best, and when I first saw pictures of series 8, I thought it was a somewhat disappointing series, but the more I thought about it, the less certain I was. So here goes... I figured that each figure that I would purchase should have a value of 1-5, 5 being the best. A very few figures that I did not purchase, I still gave a value of 1, since I thought they were pretty cool (statue of liberty and circus clown for me.) Any figure I would not purchase would be given a value of 0. I then added up the values of the figures I purchased to give me an overall value for the set. The next paragraph cover how I weighted my values, so please feel free to ignore this part if you want. In my opinion, the quality of a series is determined mostly by the top few figures, and so I tried to be sparing with my high rankings, with an average of one 5 point per series (8 total) and one 4 point per series (8 total) I ended up with about 12 figures with 3 point values, and about a 1/3 of my remaining figures were 2 pointers, and the rest 1 pointers. There were a total of 51 figures out of the 8 series that I gave a 0 point value (6 figures per series on average, or a third of all CMFs produced thus far). There were a coupld\e of instances where new parts were introduced, and so I gave value to the figure, even though I did not purchase it (1 point for the new flower introduced with the bride/hippie, and 4 points for the wolf-man, since it provides a brown elven hairpiece - of which I picked up 30 of through Bricklink) I tossed around the idea of ranking the elf at 10 points, because it is hands-down my favorite figure, and I would give up every other CMF to have the elf, but this is my own private anomaly, and I would not encourage doing this for more than 1 fig if at all, because it will throw off your series ranking. I am really big on Castle/Historical and that has played the biggest factor in my choices. My 5-point figures are as follows: Elf, Spartan, Zombie, Evil Dwarf, Minotaur, Space Marine and Musketeer. My 4-point figures are as follows: Hazmat Guy, Roman Legionnaire, Aztec Warrior, Old-school Diver, Thespian, Man-Bat, Wolf Man (for the elven hairpiece) and the Evil Knight (Shield, armor, and a copy of the new sword) Most of my 0-value figs were townspeople or re-issues (Native Americans, Explorer, Diver, Ninja, etc) So my ranking were: Tied for 1st place with 24 points: Series 7, Series 6 and Series 4 In 4th place with 23 points: Series 8 In 5th place with 21 points: Series 5 In 6th place with 20 points: Series 1 In 7th place with 18 points: Series 2 In last place with 15 points: Series 3 so apparently I have liked the series more as they have advanced, which would make sense as LEGO is taking more chances as they progress. I was really surprised that series 3 was at the bottom of my list, since I have always thought of it as my favorite with the Elf fig. I would be interested in hearing other people's results but beware, this will take a while to figure out. I hope others enjoy this as well.

LEGO Collectable Minifgures Series 8 Rumours & Discussion
Rogue Angel replied to Piranha's topic in Special LEGO Themes
After seeing the close ups, the fairy is significantly better than I thought, the face is pretty well done, the torso's not bad, plus these wings look more stable than Twitch wings. I guess I'll be picking this one up now. Also, I do like the trader/businessman more and the Alien queen's torso and dress will be usable in SW, so I might pick her up now too. On the other hand, the vampire bat's face is significantly different than the man-bat's face which is a bit frustrating. -

They should be attached in the bag, just like a normal torso. For the monster fighters fig, the torso with arms attached was sealed in a small bag but I doubt they will package it that way for the CMF. -

NOT attached to the torso - unless they are planning a new mold for some reason. The brown Man-bat has separate swiveling arms that are removable. -
Lego Superheroes 2013 Rumours & Discussion
Rogue Angel replied to CorneliusMurdock's topic in LEGO Licensed
Pretty disappointed with the new Marvel lineup in SD - I was really hoping to see some more X-Men since they specifically mentioned them in the press release. Doctor Doom looks very well done and Venom looks OK, but the tentacles look horrible IMO. -

Good thing I bought 4 man-bats off BL I could've just waited if I'd known they were going to recolor them for $3 a piece. Best: Thespian, Conquistador, Diver, Bat - 4 VERY solid figs IMO. I will be picking up the evil robot, which I think is a much better recoloring than some of the other one's they've done - at least it's a unique mold I see the appeal of the pirate, since I liked the evil knight from S7 Bavarian Boy has potential depending on the coloration and printing Worst: Santa Claus (really?) Female Alien (bad alien when it first came out, why bother with second?), Fairy (this had SO much potential, but this is so blah...) so overall, a solid series. -
What're your favorite and least favorite Star Wars sets?
Rogue Angel replied to Loco de Lego's topic in LEGO Star Wars
Frankly, I'm surprised no one has mentioned the original Hoth Rebel Base! A speeder and a big set of doors? It did have the snowies, hoth troops and rebel pilots, but come on! The only redeeming quality is the fact that you can combine it with Hoth Echo Base. And in defense of Hoth Echo Base, I think it is very reminiscent of playsets you used to get for He-Man or Batman, and it has a lot of features that little kids would like. Also, it is not that different from Cloud City, which no one has mentioned (even though Cloud City has rooms, it's pretty similar). I also agree that the early sets were all amazing steps forward for Lego (Except this piece of junk), especially the original Slave 1 and Jabba's Palace. These were so awesome when they came out! You can't really compare preprint molds to print molds IMO. And of course who can forget old bow-legged Motorized Walking AT-AT which just looks so wrong to me. I have only chosen OT sets even though I despise minis, midis, busts and half the Prequel sets - but that's because of the movies, not the Lego versions, although Palpatine's Arrest is looking pretty miserable already. -

I really don't think it will be a fur trader either. Just wishful thinking on my part. -

Whether it's fur with fur or fur with antlers, the hat would work for a fur trader. And it is a dwarf - Bilbo is the only hobbit. -

I don't know, with that dwarf hat that just surfaced, I'm thinking there is a pretty good chance it will be a fur trader. -

I agree with MikeyB - the door frame was the first thing I noticed. It's pretty sweet. I'm really excited to see the building in the background. Looks like a beaut! -
SoF: Spinel Fox - The Pink Faerie Fox
Rogue Angel replied to Siercon and Coral's topic in Guilds of Historica
That is just gorgeous, although I think I may gag from all the pink. -
Thanks for the compliments guys! I was pretty happy with the interior overall, but I was not that happy with exterior. I thought about adding in interspersed white bricks on the masses of white walls, but ran out of time. Those white stretches of wall just kept catching my eye, and when I set in next to ZCereberus' highly detailed buildings, it looked really boring. I will be working on that for my next builds.

Thanks for posting this BigCam! I only saw you on Sat evening, there was talk about coolers... and I left shortly thereafter. I'm definitely getting a table or two myself next year, but this is my first time at BW, and you know what they say about hindsight.

Avalonia Guild: Homepage, Sign-up and Discussion
Rogue Angel replied to Derfel Cadarn's topic in Guilds of Historica
I had always assumed we had a mix, Mitgardia was coniferous, and Nocturnus was deciduous (some scrubs in the mountains) I've lived in Wisconsin and Oregon - beautiful forests in both. I'm thinking temperate rain forest (like Oregon) along west coast of Avalonia, mix in the great forest, and more deciduous on mainland, but this can change mile to mile. Southern Wisconsin with farmland and forest interspersed seems perfect for mainland Avalonia IMO. -
Down with fleshies! You know how the fleshies always make you yellows lookly sickly and pallid, and how they always seem to be more expressive and think they are "prettier"? It's time to take a stand! Many of those fleshies are two faced, always looking to replace our yellow visages with "newer and better" faces. It's time to fight back! Yellow forever!!!

How much is your SW collection worth?
Rogue Angel replied to Admiral-Ackbar's topic in LEGO Star Wars
Brickset puts my collection at $10,000, and I would have to guess that roughly half of my sets are Star Wars so probably in the $5000 range, although this does not count my additional figs that I have picked up outside of BPs.... How can I see the value of my Star Wars sets only on Brickset? I was rather disappointed to see that I only own 34% of the sets, until I saw how many little mini-sets, UCS sets and collections there are. That plus I avoid most prequel sets unless they are army builders or stand out sets (AT-TE, Gunship, BPs) or Jedi laden. -
