Nice build! I love your vignettes, and I really like the way your stories intertwine. It's what I have been meaning to do, but I keep coming up with new characters instead. I like the cart, and you have a nice presentation here. Nice job!

I'm currently uploading pictures here: http://www.brickshelf.com/cgi-bin/gallery.cgi?f=505873 and here's a low-rez version of the ghost ship while my gallery is pending: Sadly, my camera was not up to the task, and produced a wealth of blurry pictures. I posted the least blurry ghost ship picture I had.

Congratulations Pirate folk, Rufus, Pandora and SI-Mocs! Your builds were amazing, and you definitely deserved the nominations and awards! (BTW the pictures can't do justice to how awesome the pirate collaborative build was. It was truly stunning!)

Try using this format: [ img ] hxxp.xxx.jpg [ /img ] (but without all the spaces) but make sure you do this with low-rez versions of the pics. -
LEGO Star Wars 2012 Pictures and Rumors
Rogue Angel replied to XimenaPaulina's topic in LEGO Star Wars
I regret to inform you that I was at Brickworld, and saw not hint of new sets. I may be wrong, but Brickworld is more of a MOC display convention, and I don't think they really showcase any new items there (other than worthless Minecraft ) -
I should be arriving around 6 or 7 - brown hair - GoT shirt.
-
If you mean this piece: http://www.bricklink.com/catalogItem.asp?P=6028 I should have one I can bring. I should be showing up Thursday night or Friday morning.

Samsonite, I was way off. -
I was going nowhere with my GoH build, but I scrapped my initial idea, and completed the rough shell (rough enough to place my BL orders for missing pieces) and I should be GTG for BrickWorld. I was worried there for a while though :

Name: Varis of the Line of Dellaenus, Rank: Lord of the Rustling Leaves Clan. Age: 157 Years (human reckoning) Weapons of Choice: Mounted (Dragon) combat: Heavy Lance Mounted (Horse) combat: Telnath (Weighted Elven sword designed to pierce Dragon Scales) Melee combat: Dragon's Fang (double edged blade) Varis' ancestor Dallaenus, led the first contingent of Elves to arrive in Historica. Their descendants are the modern day Elves of Avalonia. Following the Wars with the Drow, the Elves were scattered into isolated tribes throughout Avalonia. Adrava, of the line of Dallaenus, founded the Rustling Leaves Clan. His goal was to create a small Elven bastion where he could rebuild his strength and bide his time until the Drow once more became a threat. Since Adrava, it has always been the duty of the Lord of the clan to support and protect the Elves of Avalonia, and prepare for the eventual destruction of the Drow. Varis is the 7th Lord of the Rustling Leaves Clan, 16th in the Line of Dallaenus and First of his Name. In his youth, Varis defeated the Orc Warlord Gudock Bloodfist and his horde when they ravaged the Avalonian mainland. He sailed on the Gel Fennan vessel "Sea Whisper" and helped capture two vessels of the Marauder fleet. Varis' father passed on when he was 72, at which point he became the Lord of the Rustling Leaves Clan. As Lord, Varis has expanded the defenses of the Enchanted Forest, including the revival of the Elven Corsairs. He came to the aid of Gel Cidra when they were threatened by the Mitgardian Necromancer Grevelheim and his undead minions. Until recently Varis has remained aloof from humankind, not wanting to reveal his strength and gamble the safety of his clan. He worked behind the scenes during the "Time of Troubles" until Artorious Rex arrived. As the Drow become more bold, and their numbers swell, Varis prepares his Elves to engage the Drow, and drive them back to the Hell from whence they spawned! -

LEGO Star Wars 2012 Pictures and Rumors
Rogue Angel replied to XimenaPaulina's topic in LEGO Star Wars
I wouldn't be surprised if it froze after he hit reply - has happened to me a couple of times, and the posts are only 1 minute apart. Edit: Doc beat me to it. I personally am very disappointed with this set, since there is nothing to it but a few non-CW figs. If there would have been a few new molds in it (Ithorian, Whipid, not that it would be appropriate for the set) it would be a little more exciting, but I definitely won't be buying it. I will probably Bricklink the Agen, since I don't have one yet, and probably Mace's head, but that's about it. If this were a $50 or $60 set, I might consider it but as it stands, it's a pretty big waste of money for a couple of heads and torsos. Now Jabba's palace, for $50 more, give you: 1: a new Jabba 2: Salacious Crumb 3: a new Gamorrean Guard 4: Bousch disguise 5: Oola 6: Bib Fortuna - a pricey fig. Now that's well worth the money to me, especially when you consider that you get an entire palace playset! -
Nice build! I really like the whole scene along the river bank, and so much activity going on down there. I also really like the way you've built the main building along the bank, and I agree that house-front is a great option to add a lot of character without taking up a lot of space. Excellent entry!

Great build! We haven't seen many historic MOCs yet, and this one is a great story and great build. I like the use of the LOTR horse for Orthus, and the water and landscaping are great. I also like the selection of torsos for the mercs. I especially like the row of archers firing from the far bank - the placement of the figs in this build is excellent - You can definitely see the horsemen charging into the Mercs. Excellent work! I had the red ford listed in my more expansive history, but then took it out when I streamlined it into date bullets. I will add the red ford back in to the history one of these days.

Thanks guys! The torso is from the new Valkyrie figure from series 8.

VIP Exclusive 850458 LEGO® Minifigures set
Rogue Angel replied to Thego's topic in Special LEGO Themes
I know this has been said a million times, but... Horrible figure choice. Obviously surplus series 3 figs, with the elf thrown in to improve sales. All they had to do was change the hairpiece or the torso on the elf and these would have sold like hotcakes (to me at least) but I won't buy a single one now. If they would have had one more army builder fig (zombie, spartan, roman soldier) then this would have worked, but I don't see any appeal to this at all unless the elf fig were ever to hit $15 on BL. -
Very nice ending, and very timely indeed - and the other guilds question the Drow menace, Hah!

Great build Soccerkid, indeed your building skill has just sky-rocketed! I really like the rotated bridge, the snot work and the nice variety int he stonework of the tower. I LOVE the roof though, I've been wrestling with different ways to do roofing and I really like this one. Agreed! I like that the tower is all light grey/bley. I think that color mixing has it's place but I agree that the stone from this could easily come from one source, and the surrounding stone may not be suitable for building. Great MOC!

See, this is what happens when it's cold and dark for .... 12 months out of the year - you have to entertain yourself. Great job! I love it!

Great article! Great Idea! I'm thinking there will have to be reports to follow on the stances of the other 2 guilds (Maybe even with interviews? )

Might you be the reason that double concave (I think) black slopes are at such a premium on BL right now? I had to revert to a gray roof for my current build instead. Ah well, I am envious... -

Rogue Angel replied to Derfel Cadarn's topic in Guilds of Historica
Some of you humans have such short memories. Do you forget that the Drow have already conquered Nocturnus once before and were on the verge of enslaving the whole of Historica? Do you think the Drow have changed? They have not, they are inherently evil! They dispatch barely veiled threats and you wave them off as bluster. If you wish to sit back and profit off of your trade with these foul creatures and pretend that you are more noble by choosing wealth over warfare, we Avalonians will defend Historica and prevent the looming catastrophe you choose to ignore.
