Togensu - Guild of the East - Togensu is an oceanic continent located east of Nocturnus and Kaliphlin. Two great mountain ranges run the length of the continent, and shelter the heartlands from the bulk of the stormy weather off the oceans. These mountains have also served to isolate the residents of Togensu, who have dwelled there since before Kaliphlin was settled (for a second time.) History: This continent has been populated almost as long as Avalonia and Nocturnus. A small sailing fleet bound for the lands of present day Mitgardia, was blown off course and stumbled upon the bay at the north end of the continent. They settled the area, and their descendants comprise the Sataka people that inhabit the northern reaches of Togensu. Although there were other small groups of explorers and sailors, the only other major migration occurred a millenia later. The ancestors of the Pamibia people lived in the deserts of present-day Kaliphlin and worshipped the gods of the night sky. When they first encountered Drow, they took them for sacred emissaries and welcomed them in. The Drow soon began kidnapping whole villages, and this eventually turned into a full scale assault. The drow were vastly superior in skill of arms and numbers, and the remnants of the Pamibian ancestors fled to the sea. They followed the signs of their most powerful God - Father Night, leading them east in hopes of finding new lands of their own, and eventually discovered the lands of Togensu. They eventually settled on the great plateau that one day bear the name they would adopt themselves: Pamibia. The only other large concentration of people in Togensu are the gnomes that inhabit both the mountain ranges. Noone knows if the gnomes always lived here, or if they came across the seas, but they have lived here since before the first histories of Togensu were written. Geography: Kokando Basin Nestled in the southern mountains is a great basin that straddles Historica's Equator. The basin's tropical climate provide the perfect locale for tall palm trees, giant ferns and other plants, which fill the basin floor like a lush carpet. Time seems to stand still in this prehistoric jungle, and it's rulers have reigned here for millenia. Great lizards inhabit the basin, and are the dominant life here - humans have never more than sparsely settled these lands. Some of the jungle tribes even capture the lizards and use these as mounts... at their peril. Small walled settlements have started springing up along the coast over the last century, but the inhabitants must wage a constant war with the lizards for survival. Pamibia Plateau Along the north side of Kokando Basin looms a great cliff over a mile high, that runs between the two mountain ranges. This cliff marks the beginning of the Pamibia Plateau - a great grassland that cover the middle of the continent. Great winds scour the plains, and the temperature is significantly lower at the high altitude. What appears to be a barren grassland is in fact teeming with small mammals and birds, and there is an abundance of rivers and lakes dotting the land. The Pamibia tribe is spread across the plateau, with great herds of horses and nomadic villages. There is a short growing season, and the relatively fertile soil and heavy rains have made this the agricultural center of the continent. Lately, the Pamibia have taken up the merchant trade, with the assistance of the gnomes, who build great cogs to cross the oceans. This has led to an influx of people from the other guilds, and the capitol city of Ombaho is slowly becoming more cosmopolitan. Sataka The two mountain ranges of Togensu meet north of the Pamibia Plateau, and then split again to the northeast and northwest. The land between these two northern ranges is composed of many foothills and valleys that slope down towards a sheltered bay with pebble beaches and isolated coves. Great evergreen forests blanket the lands, and the cold water of the bay teem with fish and crustaceans. The Sataka villages dot the forests and hills, and many mountain valleys. The Sataka were some of the earliest residents of Historica, but uniquely have been almost completely isolated for most of their existence. Their lives are steeped in many ancient traditions and rituals that would seem alien to other Historicans. They worship the dragons that live in the mountains of Togensu, and believe these creatures to be incarnations of their Gods. Of late, the Sataka have had regular conatct with the Pamibia and the gnomes which has led to a small crossover of culture and thought. The most notable export from this exchange has been the adoption of wooden buildings of Sataka architecture by the Pamibia who had relied primarily on tents and earthen structures. Ruler: The current ruler of Togensu is Embora Dahl, Queen of the Pamibia, Brightstar of the East. She has held power for the past 16 years, the last ruler being Kosado of the Sataka, who ruled until his death. Embora Dahl was the royal daughter of Ramo Dahl, the former Brightstar of the East. Embora spent her adolescence at sea, aboard the Flagship of the Pamibia merchant fleet - Dark Moon. The Dark Moon was attacked by pirates out of Nocturnus, and when the captain was slain, Embora rallied the crew to beat down the pirates and capture their ship. Unbeknownst to her father, Embora spent a great deal of her time at sea as a privateer of sorts, hunting down the marauders that always skulk off the coasts of Nocturnus. When Ramo fell ill, Embora sailed for home, but returned days two days after her father had died. In the wake of his death, one of Ramo's closest advisors launched a coup and took the throne for himself. By this point, Embora commanded the loyalty of her small fleet, and with the help of the common people, took back her throne. Three years later, with the passing of Kosado, the throne of Togensu lay vacant, and Embora made a bid. The Sataka royalty were split between two bitter rivals, and could not muster sufficient support to forestall the loss of the throne. Since her rise to power, Inter-guild trade has flourished, and there has been a great influx of wealth to Togensu. The Captitol has been relocated from Imperial City to Ombaho. Embora has built up the navy and merchant marine, and expanded the military forces, and strengthened them with the Pamibia homeguard. Standard: The Togensu standard is blue and black. The blue signifies the great oceans to all sides, and the black represents the Great Dragon for the Sataka, and Father Night for the Pamibia. The lands of Togensu are diverse, and this vignette represents the different aspects of it's peoples. The first tier represents the ruthless fight for the survival that the savage tribes of the basin must endure every day. The second teir shows how the Pamibia give their Night Gods credit for all they have accomplished in this new land which the Night Father guided them too. The third layer represents the unique traditions of the Sataka as well as their largely solitary existence as a people. The fourth tier demonstrates the ingenuity of the Gnomes, and how they can make great leaps forward in technology, but this progress is marred at times by disastrous folly. Kaliphlin Guild: Homepage, Sign-up and Discussion
Rogue Angel replied to Si-MOCs's topic in Guilds of Historica
So sorry to hear about your wife's health. I hope they can determine what's going on soon. I know caring for a loved one can be a lot of work, so stop by here as often as you like. Building is optional anyways - almost more Fantasy than Lego here. -

Ecc & SK - those are some great creations! Ecc-It is unbelievable how many of these beautiful Ondyllion MOCs you keep pumping out! I love your building style SK- I thought I was going to have one of the only multi-level entries for the 5th guild, but yours looks great! -
This is Amazing Gabe! There are so many details to this, and the story is superb! I LOVE the waves below and the rain/clouds backdrop, among many many other things. I'm so glad you finished this, but I hope you finish your Challenge 5 entry in time - you always have great contenders! Awesome MOC!
-
Great job on this! I think what strikes me the most is just how sprawling it is, and how it encompasses the whole party. I too love the use of the bucket handles for benches. Excellent work!
-
In TOR It is different. There are many nonunique Sith - the equivalent of an Imperial Stormtrooper kind of.
-
I dislike CW as well, but it should be remembered that the Star Wars license would probably not be so profitable without CW. I think that CW is the reason that the Star Wars Lego line is still going after 13 years.
-
TLG sure has it in for me! First Star Wars, then Indiana Jone, X-Men & LoTR, now the Lone Ranger? If they start making James Bond Legos, I'll know it's just a conspiracy to make me go broke! I loved the Lone Ranger when I was a kid, I just hope that it's not too far fetched in the Disney version. It should be nice to get some updated western pieces either way though!

Time to add in my two cents... I would say that a drop off is inevitable. I think Mr. Statham has hit it right on the nose with Novelty. I think that most people have a very hard time staying committed to something consistently for a long period of time. Everything is always more interesting right away, but it loses it's luster. It is easy to stop in every day at first, then every week, then once a month.... and soon you haven't visited for 6 months. I usually tend to go through phases - I'll be really into Legos for 4-6 months, then I'll get into video gaming/MMORPG for 4-6 months, then working around the house.. I rarely keep up a sustained effort on one particular thing for this long, (kudos to the Guild Leaders and all you GoH members that keep me interested!) I think it is very easy to fall away from this the longer time goes on. I for one have to make a conscious effort to keep building things, and even that has not worked very well lately. The contests are what keep me going. I want to remain a contributing member, and so I feel obligated to compete in every major contest, and what small ones I can (I really was planning on entering yours SK, but I ran out of time ). This is a good thing though, because otherwise I might not build anything at all. I have tons of ideas floating around, but just not enough time to build them. I personally would say that the largest factor that keeps me interested is the interaction with other members. Add this to the fact that people like de Gothia, Legonardo and Ecclesiastes are posting new MOCs constantly, and I am always eager to see what's new in the forum each day. A forum is only as good as it's members.

I would always go looking for a $15-20 set in January in hopes of getting the full sized catalogue. If S8 CMF is any guide, Lego is getting much better at preventing preliminary picture leaks.
-
Nice duck! I like the trans plates under the grass, and the tree technique works well here. I actually like the horizontal tiling on the tower - it makes it stand out. I can see wooden fortress/wall techniques being horizontal or vertical.
-
This is Awesome! I love all of the supports and towers, and I like the use of the stepped angles (on either side of the front door for example) - it works very well for this build!
-
IMO, As long as they release each figure (Fellowship is out, just want Saruman and some of the Elves/Rohirim/Gondorians) and the main scenes, I'm less concerned with tons and tons of sets. Obviously there are many Hobbit characters (Smaug please!!!) that I would want as well. In the long run, I can see how this may have a negative impact on future endeavors, but there isn't really much we can do to affect sales for the current sets...
-
I don't thing Lego would have time to design and produce (and everything that goes with it) 2 new Hobbit part one sets unless they had planned some in a later wave. Also, I don't think Lego would be that. Concerned either way. They don't always match up to the release timelines (Dark Knight Rises) anyway. I have spoken with one of the managers at one of the local Lego stores, and he said that LoTR sets are not selling nearly as well as they were expecting. The Hobbit movie will hopefully help boost sales though.

Duce - That's an impressive castle army you have there! I am envious of your Green dragon army force! You've got more crownies and new lions than me as well, but I'm less concerned about those (although I'll have to pick up the crownies someday...) Lawrence - You've got orcs galore! I'm not sure If I'm going to army build LoTR like I do Castle and Star Wars, but you've got a force to be reckoned with! I am envious. Natesroom - I am impressed by your collection of older figs (black falcons/shields/wolfpack/forestmen) You have a good representation of the classic sets. Any plans for a large battle scene?

A teaser of my 5th Guild...

This is magnificent! I love the fantastic feel of the whole thing. The walls are excellent, especially the cheese slopes in the seams (as many have mentioned) and the variety of crenellations on top. I also really like the layout of the different towers, and the upside down snot floating islands above the lime green swamp - the colors work beautifully here. I too like the moat denizens and the sphere on top. Superb!!!
-
Nice build! I like the use of the cmf stands for the roof, and the chains in the road really make it stand out. The sign has to be my favorite part though. Good work!
-
Beaut! I love the use of light bley and dark bley - it really makes the details pop. This is a grand castle, nice large scale. I absolutely love the 2x1 plate/cheese slope usage on the arch! This may be a widespread technique, but it's the first time I've seen it. Great build!

I'm not a big fan of the Turbo Tank, plus I have not liked either of the Lego incarnations so far. I do have the first one squirreled away somewhere though. -

Rogue Angel replied to BillytheKid's topic in LEGO Star Wars
So my friends came to town for the weekend, and I had to reassemble all of my star wars sets for their kids, so I figured I'd take a few pictures while I was at it. First my Clone Wars starships: My Separatist Ground Forces My Republic Ground Forces And most importantly, my Imperial Ground Forces And a few pictures of my Star Wars Legos set up for the friends' kids I still want to get a couple more hailfire droids, a couple more droid carriers, at least one more Geonosian tanks, and some spider droids for my separatists. I'm also planning on making my own version of the tank droid, but that's still a ways off. My Republic army is pretty good although I'm still a little light on figures and I need another 1-3 swamp speeders. My imperial force is still in dire need of more AT-ATs, but I want to mod the original and then BL the parts for a couple more. I still have some work to do with my Imperial Fleet and my Rebel Fleet, and my Fringe forces. -
I must say, that would be pimp-a-licious - a grand alternative to my idea! Grand idea indeed, Yes yes.

I meant that Mitgardia has had the highest voted entry for 2 challenges, hence: glove/gauntlet what have you. -
This is a fantastic build! I love the gabling on the 2nd floor, and the technic brick technique always looks nice. I love all the activity in the yard, and the creative use of pieces with the timber planks and the stone wall along the side. Beautiful as always!
